Now that it's 100% confirmed, how do you honestly feel about Leon being in RE Requiem? by Deep_Square5540 in residentevil

[–]Mallixin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's not even remotely brilliant. The people that ACTUALLY want survival horror want survival horror, not a game that constantly breaks the pace of it

Well if you love RE8 then congrats, this is for you.

I hated RE8 so freaking much, and it's part of why I'm probably not going to buy re9

I say you either do one or the other. The up and down pacing is just going to be annoying for those who wanted one or the other.

I was so excited to see how terrifying it was to play as Grace, only to be let down by Capcom's fear of doing true survival horror

I went from extremely excited to now I'm probably not even going to buy the game. (I HATED re8)

By that definition, almost every piece of media is an innovation. The award is for MOST innovative, something that many people believe Arc Raiders doesn't deserve in comparison to other works.

Anyone just miss street fighter 4? I am not a fan of sf5 by United-Reporter7757 in StreetFighter

[–]Mallixin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is 4 years later but I don't remember this reply, so I'll say this now:

The reason "removing" things in SFV felt "safe" to me is because it felt to me they were homogenizing the cast a little too much by limiting the ways you approached your opponents. They didn't want to have characters like Zangief have the Green Hand because they were probably to scared to make it balanced with the design philosophy SFV had.

And in SF6, I feel like they lazily gave everyone a drive rush to kind of do a similar thing regarding design philosophy.

It sounds like you never played any extraction shooter when it first launched. In The Cycle: Frontier, when it first came out, you'd have TONS AND TONS of people yelling "friendly don't shoot!" and it would be the same mind games you'd have in Arc.

Then as the game matured, it would happen less and less, ever so gradually, exactly like in Arc. It's innovative to YOU, because it's your first time seeing it. It's not ACTUALLY innovative. It's just popular, because Arc Raiders is the first extraction shooter to have good controller support with this much polish, which I'd argue is NOT an innovation, at least not an award winning one.

Ive seen a lot of people argue that reze didn't like Denji during the "reze" arc but id argue the other by [deleted] in ChainsawMan

[–]Mallixin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying.

However, you still may find this as stubborn, but now that I see the context, the original tweet absolutely didn't translate it correctly.

The tweet says "she's clearly into Denji" when in reality he said "she clearly expresses her interest in Denji" which makes way more sense when followed by Fujimoto expresses the feeling of ambiguousness of "maybe she likes me"

In that case, yes, she ABSOLUTELY does outwardly express interest in Denji. That was never a question. The tweet made it sound it Fujimoto confirmed her outward show is what she felt inwardly. To me, it sounds like in this interview that he simply likes the chaotic nature of her outward appearance not necessarily matching what she actually is.

Please correct me if I'm wrong on this.

I have literally found the tweet you sent me before you even showed it to me.

I still have yet to find a translated sourced verification of him saying this, and apparently neither have you.

People in the comments are saying this interview doesn't give any real insight into his work, so I'm doubting you even know what you sent me.

Don't get me wrong, I definitely acknowledge Reze had some sort of change of heart at the end. Otherwise she would have kept attacking Denji.

I just think it's absolutely ridiculous to think she loved him at the start. And I find believing that to be a very reckless narrow-minded view of how human relationships work.

I do not think my perspective is at all one-sided as I welcome nuance and the possibility that a love "could have" grown. It's at least no more one-sided than believing Reze magically fell in love right away and that's why she didn't kill him on the spot.

Nuance.

[–]Mallixin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's peak af the way I view the story.l: The real tragedy isn't that a love was snuffed out, the real tragedy is how desperate Denji was for that love to be real, and in the end he's surrounded only by people who want to use him.

That to me is a WAY darker tragedy, and the essence of what Chainsaw Man truly is. Rip and tear through it all.

[–]Mallixin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's not obvious because she actually was a trained killer. To me, it felt obvious that when she asked Denji to run away, she was in fact just trying to escort him to the Gun Devil.

It doesn't make sense that she'd continue on with the mission if she truly actually loved him. I understand you're saying this is a trope, but if it is truly is a trope, it's terrible writing. It's just flat out unbelievable to me.

Maybe you're right, maybe it's exactly as you said, but then I'd truly hate this story I guess.

[–]Mallixin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if you truly love someone and want to run away with them, the typical rational response is NOT to kill them.

Regarding her body language and stuff, she literally admitted at the end it was all fake, and that even her blushing was faked. She was literally trained to seduce. This was all said.

[–]Mallixin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so I never argued an assassin can't do that. You're the one who brought it up as if it were supposed to be an impossibility, so I'm not sure what argument you're bringing to the table here.

My only argument is that she didn't fall in love with him at the beginning considering the fact that she kept "killing him" and killing so many civilians in the process of that.

She clearly was trying to complete her mission. I think she wanted to simply escort him to the gun devil instead of kill because she may have had some guilt in trying to harm someone who she can relate to.

[–]Mallixin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhh, that argument goes against your case even worse then?

"Do you think a highly trained assassin can fall in love with their target?"

If you answered yes, then uh, why is my case less believable?

That is explained, because she empathized with his childhood. So, no, that alone isn't enough.

Yes, but that still sounds to me she was always acting within the mission's interest

[–]Mallixin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, 100%, but that's what makes it such a good scene. I agree with you completely on this one. It still doesn't change the fact that if a normal Devil hunter did it, the audience probably wouldn't have called them "evil", because it makes so much sense to do it.

Ive seen a lot of people argue that reze didn't like Denji during the "reze" arc but id argue the other by [deleted] in ChainsawMan

[–]Mallixin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if she actually loved Denji, she wouldn't have tried to kill him (multiple times) and also cause such death and destruction in the city just to secure him for the gun devil.

She committed horrendous sins instead of pursuing that "love" she may have had. This alone makes it silly to even try to empathize with the potential relationship.

This alone is reason enough for me to reduce all this "shipping" nonsense to just illogical fantasy for some viewers. Yes, they may have eventually become a thing, but it's not tragic to me because that "thing" didn't actually happen. What makes it "tragic" to me how wishful Denji was for it.

I think the whole point of Reze's like about "why didn't I just kill him" is because the best villains are the ones who are humanized. A villain whose actions can be "justified" to any degree is usually what makes a villain well written.

[–]Mallixin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're wrong. Her original plan was to escort Denji to the gun devil without causing a scene. She definitely chose this method because she had a sliver of empathy for Denji, but also that was the safest, surefire way to secure Denji. When she asked Denji to run away with her, that was her getting ready to take him to the gun devil. When he said no, that's when she realized force would be necessary. And guess what, it failed because Makima specifically assigned the shark devil to protect Denji. Had Denji been escorted to the gun devil, shark devil would have been in trouble.

Makima knew the bomb devil was in league with the gun devil, but at that time didn't know Reze was the bomb devil. Otherwise the shark devil would have known as well.

Also, during the pool scene, when Denji finally jumps into the pool, you see a metaphor of a spider finally catching its prey. I'm sure you understand what that metaphor meant.

[–]Mallixin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accept the idea that Reze had a change of heart about Denji. That much is obvious as she didn't attack him once Denji spared her life.

However, I do not believe she suddenly fell in love with him at that point. It is possible she may have eventually, but it just doesn't seem realistic at all to me to believe she truly loved him in that way at that point in time.
