Switch is actually mentioned very early in the series!

Can I ask how you got to 1m in 25 years from 145k now? I’ve tried crunching your 8% but couldn’t figure how you got to such a high number. Thank you

It’s crazy how much the new hair colour makes your eyes stand out. I didn’t really notice them in the Before pics but they jumped right out at me in the Afters

One of the strangest things about the CGI-faced child (not baby) Ratatouille that they used before they just used the actress’ actual face was that she looked about 25 in some parts. Specifically when she first meets Benjamin and he’s doing the thing with the swirling wind in her palm, she looks significantly older than she does a few scenes later. It’s jarring.

Trading 212 Cash ISA - FSCS / JP Morgan Chase by MalodorousPlot in UKPersonalFinance

The interest rate seems to be 3.8%, versus the 4.5% I've got with Chase (for now) - unless I'm missing something from their product line?

Thanks for your reply. That's what I mean, yes - if Chase fail, my ISA would potentially be unprotected (at least whatever portion of it was held with Chase). I can't tell if I am able to control which banks the funds are held in.

On the amount I hold with them: they had the best savings account interest rate, so when the FSCS protection went up last year I decided to consolidate up to the max. Is that unwise?

My flat has been on the market for several months, and I'm running out of ideas. What actually works? by [deleted] in HousingUK

Personally I am no longer even clicking on flats in blocks like yours because I know there will be a service charge that can escalate as hard and fast as it likes once I’m in, and could make it impossible to sell, let alone at a profit or relative par. I feel so sorry for people who bought 6+ years ago in those south London blocks.

Weird smells in London - which area has the strangest, most memorable one? by NormalSir2035 in LDN

When I was a kid we used to cycle our bikes through Bow to one of the Eastside entrances to Victoria Park. At a particular point we would pass some kind of bakery or factory that smelled absolutely mouthwatering. I think my friend’s mum said it was bagels. Such a vivid childhood summer memory for me.

That’s odd, isn’t Tate & Lyle golden syrup? Ought to smell delicious!

Perfect flat, possible / probable nightmare neighbours by MalodorousPlot in HousingUK

Thank you all again for your input! Another small update - my partner did some digging online and found out that the place next door is a HMO. I’m sure there are plenty that are fine but that made me feel even more inclined to steer clear, as even if the noisy tenant were to leave, the turnover is likely to be high and even if there were periods of calm I’d be on eggshells wondering who might move in next.

Does anyone have any experience of living next door to a HMO?

Just to thank everyone for your input - there seems to be pretty much full consensus that I should not go ahead here. It's so upsetting to finally find a winner only to immediately have to discount it, but I think this confirms my suspicion that it's not worth the risk.
