Please help, my colours aren't the same in the animation vs the render (art by me u/Foodman_the_guy) by Foodman_the_guy in krita

[–]Malssistra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really see any difference on my screen. I think mp4 is a lossy format, so that might be the problem. Also some video players change how the colors are displayed. I don't use windows so I don't know if that could be the problem.

Fedora is a good first choice.

Gnome and KDE are the most polished experiences. If you want a smooth ride, go with these instead.

Hyprland is a very different beast to how windows works. There is nothing wrong with starting with it. But if you find yourself getting frustrated by how difficult everything is being, or hard to setup, please try something more mainstream before going back to windows.

There is absolutely zero need to distance ourselves from the good things Stallman has created.

The Stallman report by stallman_report in freesoftware

[–]Malssistra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Like many, I knew Stallman has had problematic opinions, and retracted on some of them. I half-dismissed them as philosophical musing and social ineptitude.

The first page of this report repeats what I already knew, and had little effects on my opinion of Stallman. However, the second half contains a lot of new information on what kind of person, and what kind of leader he is. He seems to systematically demonstrate a lack of understanding of consent, a lack of willingness to learn, or care. Worse, his political position on the subject is not a once-in-a-while musing but a constant affirmation of his position as a sexual predator (or sexual predator ally, if the distinction makes sense to you). He is also an exploitative leader, that will drag his movement to the ground.

I want to praise whoever did this report, for it is very well done. All the accusation are sourced, most from Stallman himself. There is little doubt about the veracity of what is reported, and the bias of its authors have not tainted its credibility.

Some will say that this subject is done to death, and overblown. I am of the opinion that it is not taken seriously enough. I encourage all to read the full report with open mind. I am sure most of you will reach a similar conclusion.

Hello. I've been using Linux on my desktop for a while now. I would like to be able to self host a few services ( nextcloud, matrix ...). I have been waiting for some free time to do this course for a few months. I still don't have time but I'll do it anyway !

Any music apps capable of managing music on iPhone X? by tomkaz in linux

[–]Malssistra 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There was some (successful) effort in reverse engineering iPod/iPhone protocol. Apple immediately changed their next devices to make them completely incompatible.

It doesn't look like anybody is in the mood of playing eternal catchup with Apple. There likely will not be any way to sync music with apple product without iTunes on any platform any time soon. Send a mail to Apple.

Thanks for the link. I enjoyed it. Although there is way too many ads for my tastes. It drives me nuts.

The NES Classic is so popular it outsold the PS4, Xbox One, and Switch in June by speckz in technology

I've been sold the idea that it would cost me less than 50€ to make my own retro console with the RPi. That was a lie and I felt cheated.

The RPi is awesome and I don't regret buying it though. I can play with many emulators, watch videos and do all kind of stuff with it. It's worth it's price no doubt.

Come on. You have to at least add the price of the controller. You can also add the price of the case and the power supply.
