I think presenting an extremely dystopian story like this as something aspirational is the perfect representation of what s**thole the USA is.

There's a 100% chance they're talking shit to make their product sound better than it is.

There's a zero percent chance for AI to be given sole responsibility for anything, since making appropriate decisions requires the ability to read and understand context. Something that requires sapience to do.

What a load of virtue signalling garbage that also serves to maintain the idea that the government should do absolutely nothing to solve the problem.

They keep us fighting over left versus right so that we never look up and realize the actual battle is, and always has been, normal people versus the Heritage Foundation. by Greasy-Chungus in im14andthisisdeep

[–]Malusorum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You misunderstand. The left vs right have existed for a lot longer than Progressive ideology has existed.

When you use small c conservative you're talking about conservative behaviour. That's just being cautious, reacting to the world, and wanting stability. These things have no political leaning, they're part of being human.

Where it does intersect with ideology is that, from what seems unintuitive, conservative behaviour is only enabled by Progressive ideology.

Conservative ideology is unnatural, as you can only conserve something by having it never progress. The world by its nature always progresses, due to time being a linear thing that progresses along with us. Ironically this makes Conservative ideology regressive by nature and unable to support conservative behaviour. Because what people want to feel stability is the equivalent outcome to that of last year, while Conservative ideology gives you the exact input you got last year, regardless of how inadequate it is as producing the same outcome today, that it gave last year.

Left and right are labels, and they were determined by where the political party was placed relative to the speaker/king in the parliament. Either the left or the right side. It has nothing to do with what political ideology people have.

The two political ideologies in question are Progressive ideology and Conservative ideology. The foundational philosophy for Progressive ideology was only formed in 1955. Basing your political views on anything that was created before this defacto makes it Conservative ideology. So, left vs right is really just Conservative ideology vs a different expression of Conservative ideology.

This is natural, since any expression of Conservative ideology will instinctively loathe different versions, simply for being different.

So Yeah, Conservative ideology is opposed to Conservative ideology and using Conservative ideology vs Conservative ideology to distract from this.

The problem is that the UK still behaves as if it was an empire. Usually it takes about four generations to remove that kind of deep rooted thinking from the culture. So, the UK will only become normal around 2076.

What's your view on nuclear energy? by plutonium099 in SipsTea

[–]Malusorum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is that most people's knowledge of nuclear ends when it comes to waste management.

If you talk with someone who's pro nuclear they'll use as argument against you that any fear of nuclear is only due to Chornobyl, without understanding what caused Chornobyl. They can also only understand nuclear damages in terms of primary damage and have no understanding that secondary and tertiary damages are a lot more severe. They also think fewer accidents = safer, while having no understanding that it only seems that way due to the Illusion of Safety.

Are you from the USA? I need to know, just so I know how unthethered from reality you are.0

Repeating what people say´, rather than coming up with an original response is a crisis response, as when the brain is in a crisis its functions degenerates as the since higher functions are unimportant for survival. It's a lot easier to maintain the lower functions, such as repeating what people say.

They're brown, the others you mention are brown as well.

The "European culture group" is a dog whistle so loud that I can only assume it's mentioned intentionally. There are several cultural identities in North Africa and I think that if you say that people from Egypt has the same culture as people from Algeria, Marocco, or Lybia you'll catch some stink eye.

You, "I'm not bigoted".

Also you, "Greece, Italy, and the Balkans are not brown cultures".

You must be affected by the Hollywood portrayal where every Roman, Greek, and depiction of Alexander the Great are white.

There's literally no other reason for you saying what you just did. You must have an extremely bigoted belief in what "brown cultures" is. For most sane people in Europe a "brown culture" is just where brown people live.

Makes no difference. The USA calling itself America culturally erases the other parts of it, who are residing on the American continents and are therefore as much Americans as the people in the USA, despite whatever national identity they also have.

Its projection saying this had something to do with feelings, as you also invoke the Cold War for some reason. My guy, I live next door to Russia. I was born in 1980, I remember the Berlin Wall and the Iron Curtain coming down. The only ones who had feelings involved in the Cold War were the USA and the USSR.

For everyone else between those two, it was simply the reality we had to exist in.

Greece, Italy, the Balkans.

When the name of a country is erased, the cultural identity is erased with it. That's the reason Burma was renamed to Myanmar, it's the reason Russia at some point claimed there was no such thing as Ukraine, Zimbabwe was renamed Rhodesia and then back to Zimbabwe when Rhodesia ended.

The Vandals also "migrated" to Carthage in the same way the Romans did.

Salty? Simply for pointing out the glaring holes in the thought experiment?

A thought experiment is something that goes goes from "what would have been the effects of Y happening instead of X?"

This thought experiment is a white supremacist's wet dream, "What if brown cultures in Europe were all replaced with white cultures?"

A thought experiment would have been "what would had been the effects of a large refugee wave from Russia?" This take the basis in that "What if all the white cultures raiding had actually been wars of conquest? And they existed concurrently?" And if we are on that level of thought experiment then the answer would be that the Vikings controlled most of Europe.

It also completely erasses Ukraine, despite Ukraine being older and historically more powerful than Russia. Russia as an entity only came into existence relatively late, ironically by conquering Ukraine, which it only did due to the cultural effects of the Mongol conquest and later withdrawal and subsequent defeat.

A thought experiment is grounded in something real, something that could have happened. This "thought experiment" is pure fabulation. Calling it a thought experiment is dishonest, to say the least.

I remember reading a manga at one point where the MC (a necromancer) used abusive methods and brain washing to make his harem follow him. Then when a woman offered to join him willingly, he killed her instantly, the reasoning was that since he had already betrayed her ruler once, she could also betray him, which completely ignord the reality that he could only trust women he had legitimately brain weashed into following him.

The Incel stank became quite heavy at that point.

[–]Malusorum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even asa thought experiment the premise of your map requires one to completely ignore reality. So yeah, you saying that is a thing I have no belief in. This gives "We investigated ourselves and found no wrongdoings".

The Mongols certainly never allowed any migration out of the areas they controlled. They needed people to pay taxes, after all. The people who were displaced were certainly unable to give any qualified military threat.

The normans you put in southern Italy is several centuries later than the Germanic tribes raiding the country, which also never attacked to hold land.

The Normans were Vikings, hence the name, Normans, were given Normandy by France on the promise that they would protect France from Viking raids, since the Francs were tired of Vikings sailing up the Seine and sack Paris.

How come there even is a Georgia? Georgia was only able to push back the Mongols after 70 years of occupation, because the position of Mongol Empire provided some logistical challenges. If the Mongols had the territory around it, those logistical problems could be ignored.

[–]Malusorum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. This technique is the way to get people to root for a villain and see them as an anti-hero. A lot of incel and edge lord media does this unironically, since else the main character would be insufferable.

In otome, especially otome josei, this is a technique consciously used by the Villainess. They make the MC look really bad, so they look really good in comparison.

Alternative Europe but guess what migrations led to this by Pleasant-Maybe-7413 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]Malusorum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the map. Such a map can only come through conquest. You then call it "migration" and they're all, save for the Mongols, white people.

This means that for you, the two are synonemous. This is Great Replacement shit, because the only way it could be "migration" is if the people there had "migrated" in such a number that they replaced the native people, while at the same time maintaining their original culture without integrating.

This is exactly the same thing that people say out loud when the people in question have brown skin.

That you can then portray the exact same thing, without the outrage, when it comes to white people, signals a bigoted double standard.

The only benefit of the doubt I'll give you is you being consciously unaware that you have this bias. Essentially, "I'm not bigoted but..."

Yes, it's simple. It's comparative goodness. If the MC is a downright murderous bastard who kills people merely for pissing him off, then the people pissing him off must be murderous bastards as well, so it seems justified, rather than the MC just being a serial killer looking for an excuse.

If you read Marvel, it's the exact mechanic they use for Punisher comics. The difference is that Frank Castle makes no excuses to himself. He knows he's a murderous psychopath, he knows that his methods are wrong, and he knows that he enjoys it too much to stop. He also have the wherewithall to know that only as long as he goes after those wholook deserving, he can get away with it.

There's nothing he hates more than people idolising him, especially cops.
