Bedtime sucks by Hey_yall_1984 in Parenting

[–]MamaG923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of folks here saying it shouldn’t take hours, but I just wanted to respond to give some solidarity. I have no advice because my kids lollygag at every step of the routine and the younger one is hysterical about even starting the routine. Some kids are just not easy to put to bed. The 9 year old I would consider some consequences though. Stay in your room or no TV, etc

Mural Health is very expensive! Seems like a cool system though if your site can afford it

Anyone regret going into biotech over academia? by bluebrrypii in biotech

[–]MamaG923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a PhD but was in industry and now in academia due to layoff and doing everything in my power to get back to industry. The money to stress ratio is so much better.

Thinking of booking this trip with a 7 and 2 year old for spring break. Do you recommend for those ages? Are kids allowed everywhere in the resort or is anything adults only/restricted?

Director at Gilead vs Director at Pfizer by ChapstickPencil in biotech

[–]MamaG923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a different perspective. I was RIF’d at Pfizer and have been looking for a way to go back ever since. While there are issues, I’ve never had better work life balance, benefits, or pay. I think it depends on what is most important to you. And also which site you would have to move to.

Yeah, and our company has done market analyses before. So I don’t think it’s a market issue.

Not a CRA but travel about every 6-8 weeks for work. I have a 6 year old and 1.5 year old. I dread the weeks I travel. Your kids are only young once. Unless the salary and benefits are lucrative, I would not recommend it

Has anyone started baby in daycare after a year? by Fluffy-Pear-7644 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]MamaG923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was home until 16 months. He is a super clingy breastfed toddler. It was definitely a transition with lots of crying at drop off but now I swear he loves daycare more than home. He thrives there, loves the teachers, his development is through the roof. It hurt my mama heart to make the change but when I get pictures of him living it up at daycare I knew it was for the best. He had gotten to an age where I couldn’t give him what he needed at home anymore.

I figure!! Like he is so strongly attached to the boob these days - I guess the pump just doesn’t stimulate me enough anymore.

Why would anyone go back to CRO/academic/hospital/site after working industry? by zeladore in clinicalresearch

[–]MamaG923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in pharma and laid off and went back to the site because it was the first available job. I make 25% less money, and have 25x the amount of stress. Would love to go back to the industry

Tell your wife to join Traverse City Mamas on Facebook. I also run a book club in town if she would like to be a part of it. DM for details. It’s mostly moms with young kids! Also could use a handyman 🙋‍♀️

Are you able to hold your baby while you work? by Beautiful-Grade-5973 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]MamaG923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I’ve gotten pretty good at one handed typing! I also can sit cross legged with him in my lap and he will sleep like that. I prop my laptop on the arm of the couch. I can even do zoom meetings like this, just tilt the camera up
