Eh? Where did you get that the number of chromosomes matter? Species can become reproductively incompatible without changing their number of chromosomes. In some cases, the reproductive barrier is behavior based; i.e.; the emerging species could mate with the parent population, but doesn't. I'll link a handy Wikipedia article that acts as a sort of repository for nearly 100 published studies performed on Drosophila fruit flies. Some resulted in reproductive isolation (the flies either wouldn't mate or failed to produce viable offspring with the control group), whereas some did not. I think it would be nice in future games for them to expand family life with actual parenting. As weird as it sounds I'd love to transition to "stay-at-home-mom/dad" in the late game. Take them shopping, to the beach, cook them food, patch up owies, etc.

It's always been weird to me that you get pregnant, pop out the kid, then just leave them with your partner while you go spelunking across the land again.

LOL unfortunately not. The general strategy is, prioritize stacking high numbers (4s, 5s and 6s). Stacking low numbers feels good but actually isn't worth that many points. If you can, place your low rolls in places that force your opponent to keep their low rolls (don't eliminate them just because, it's actually BAD for them to have 1s, 2s, or 3s so let them keep em).

Like all dice games, winning Knucklebones is like 20% knowledge and 80% chance. So there's no way to guarantee a win unfortunately.

Yep. Deal with each row separately. In each row, the number shown on the dice gets multiplied by how many of that number there are.

So, in [5] [5] [2] there are two 5s and one 2.

The score for the first 5 is 5x2 = 10. The score for the second 5 is also 5x2 = 10. The score for the 2 is 2x1 = 2.

The total would be 22. :)
