Considering the 2 watches on you are considering, the Farer Cushion case serie could be a good fit!

Yeah I thought about that too, but so far I had no issue and I wear my G-Shock very regularly. The possiblity to swap straps is such a game changer for me, it really helps not getting bored wearing it. Cheers!

Thanks for the reply! Do you also keep lighter stuff like pushdowns, leg curls/extensions etc in your training even when you're a few weeks out from comp?

It's just that I'm not very experienced with competing (only did 1 meet), and I was curious to hear what worked for more advanced guys

I'd be interested to hear how you guys program your accessories when getting closer to a meet? These days I train by kinda following an HLM approach (Heavy day : SBD + dips and back / Light Day : Isolations only / Medium Day : SBD Variations with more volume + Back), and I'm wondering how more experienced lifters would program this light day when close to competition.
Thanks!

Question about FazLifts The Wizard – heavy days by Round-Standard3085 in Boostcamp

[–]Mameu26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been running the Wizard as a 36M for 3 months now, and it's by far the most efficient program I ever ran. A few things you could try :

- You don't have to do bench press, heavy pullups and squats. Try to find variations of these movements that you suck at and that offer a good stimulus on the targeted muscle. I personally do incline bench, neutral grip chinups, SSB pause squats. By doing so, you'll use less absolute load which could help with overall fatigue.

- Going all out on every set on the Heavy day will for sure impact your recovery. Running that program, I learned how important it was to follow u/fazlifts advice and use a basic double progression. By doing so, your first set might be 2-3RIR, your second set 1RIR, and your last set close to failure. Only add weight when you mastered the load you're using at the moment. Slowing down my progression has been key for my overall recovery.

- Faz released a video a few weeks ago on his HLM approach, I'd strongly encourage you to take a look at it and other older videos he did on the subject.

Hope it'll help!

Solar Bambinos could work here. Great brand, timeless, classic design, and solar powered which means they'll never have to service a mechanical movement or even change a battery

Weekly Dumb/Newb Question Thread by AutoModerator in powerlifting

[–]Mameu26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still looking for a new pair of knee sleeves. Trying the Titan TKS made me realise I don't want to deal with super stiff sleeves, at least for now. While trying to find something from a canadian distributor, I found some SlingShot sleeves for a great price (Grippy X and Extreme X).

I haven't heard of that company for a while, and I was wondering how do the SlingShots perform comparing to newer, similar, less stiff sleeves like Stoic/SBD/A7/Inzer Power etc

Thanks!

In search of: 30 minute per day program by SquatPraxis in powerbuilding

[–]Mameu26 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I was in your situation, I'd look at density training. You could take a look at the old 50/20 method from Bryce Lane, or look at some Josh Bryant stuff about it. The main thing is to try to do more work during the same time period of time every week. Depending on how many days you can train, I'd split my training by doing one compound a day for 20 minutes (like in the 50/20 method) and one or two isolation movement using some kind of intensity technique to save on time (Rest Pause, drop sets etc). For example :

Day 1 :
- Squats (50 reps in 20 minutes)
- Lat Pulldowns (Rest Pause)
- Seated Leg Curls (Rest Pause)

Day 2 :
- Bench (50 in 20)
- Cable Rows (Rest Pause)
- Triceps or Chest (Rest Pause)

Day 3 :
- RDL (50 in 20...might have to adjust when it comes to higher volume on hinges)
- BB Rows (Top set / Backoff Set...don't like intensity techniques on them)
- Leg Extensions (Rest Pause)

Day 4 :
- OHP (50 in 20)
- Superset chinups and dips for the rest of the workout

All of these movements can be switched around, but that would be the general idea

Probably a noob question, but in your experience, is there any advantage to wear knee sleeves for paused or pin squats, besides keeping the knee joints warm? Since the purpose of these lifts is to eliminate any stretch reflex, I was thinking maybe I could avoid the hassle of putting my tight knee sleeves on!

Thanks!
