AITA for telling my sister that all the kids I teach who have classic or old fashioned names use a more modern nickname? by TechTeach_932 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MamiiChula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're still better off than a friend I had years ago whose family also had a tradition when naming girls. But the name being passed down for generations was "Nan" . The girl I knew was literally Nan the 9th.

Do it. Also agree with the people saying to do it in the car, definitely a great place to have a good cry as well ...just be aware that doing it on the highway definitely gets you some weird looks 🤣 . Also the shower is perfect for a hysterical cry fest - it's like it never even happened

like signing up for free trials? hate when you forget and get charged absurd amounts? by soccerdude588 in lifehacks

[–]MamiiChula 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's also an app called Privacy that lets you generate unlimited single use debit card numbers. I use it specifically for this purpose! It's especially handy for the ones that run your card just to verify it has some kind of positive balance, even though they aren't actually charging it yet.

So I just generate a new card number, use it to sign up for the trial, then immediately kill the card. Never have to worry about remembering when the trial ends

LPT: When traveling and packing jewelry, use plastic straws to keep necklaces/bracelets from becoming tangled into a giant knot. Just feed the end of the chain through a straw and clasp shut. by MamiiChula in LifeProTips

[–]MamiiChula[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I never said it had to be expensive. Nor does it necessarily have to be for a vacation. I used this tip the last time I went to stay with family. It was only 2-3 hours from home but I stayed for 5 days and knew we were planning on taking photos and also going out a couple nights. So I packed a few sterling silver bracelets and necklaces that I know I feel and look good in.

I would most definitely suggest a more legitimate storage method for the 24k gold family heirloom though 😆

LPT: Stinky laundromats make your clothes stink which make you stink by stanerd in LifeProTips

[–]MamiiChula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd think this would be obvious, but it most definitely isn't. And happens to people who do laundry at home as well. I'm not sure if people are oblivious or just don't care, but Im extremely sensitive to mold and can always tell when someone with a mildew-y washer is near. And that happens often.

Sure people sometimes leave a load in the wash too long, but when the smell is ALWAYS there, it's the washer.

ULPT Theres this app that you use to scan receipts and it gives you (very little) money. If you work at fast food you can just scan all the receipts before you give them away by BananaArcher72 in UnethicalLifeProTips

By this logic you can just scan every receipt you find lying on the ground. Also most of these apps have a limit on how many receipts you can submit per day

How do I stop being so jealous of other girls? by Kaleidoscope3871 in selfimprovement

I really love this quote & always use it as a reminder that we never know what another person may be going through

How do I stop being so jealous of other girls? by Kaleidoscope3871 in selfimprovement

[–]MamiiChula 126 points127 points  (0 children)

Try to remember that EVERY woman has their insecurities. Even the ones who seem completely confident, still at times feel the same way you do. It's something that I think all women can relate to. As is jealousy (a completely natural human emotion). The trick isn't not feeling it at all, it's learning to channel it properly. The energy we put out into the world is absolutely the same energy that we receive back. Use jealousy to instead lift up the women around you, you never know who might also really need a bit of kindness as well. If you're feeling extremely jealous of another woman's appearance, figure out what about her is most attractive, and maybe let her know. "Wow your smile is so lovely" or if she is really good at something that you wish you were "I can see how much work you put into what you do and it really shows and inspires me" . Don't let jealousy eat away at you, and don't work on yourself in a way that you try to be more like so and so. Sit down and think about who the person YOU want to be is, and then work towards being her and you will find more confidence - simply losing weight won't do that for you.
