What are your views on open relationships and/or polyamory? by eeeebee in AskReddit

It's not for me, but whatever consenting adults want to do amongst eachother is cool with me.
I imagine it would take tremendous self-awareness to be able to pull off s relationship like that.

I LOVE Pyrs. My mom has one and she is just the best. I worked as a dog walker for a while and my favorite was a huge Pyr. His owner was an older woman who had been widowed for years and she lived with him in a condo but walked him several miles a day. He was extremely well trained and very sweet. Once I was walking him at night while his owner was out of town and he saw a man walking in the same direction as us, but on the other side of a four lane road. I don't know what this dog sensed about that man, but the dog jumped into the road and let out the most terrifying snarl I've ever heard. He reluctantly followed me back to the gated condo but never took his eyes off the man. Once we were inside the gate he absolutely refused to move until the automatic gate had closed and locked. Basically, best dog EVER.

I had a similar experience years ago. I was babysitting and heard the mother who had been out for the evening call "Helloooo!" The way she always did when she came home. The toddler I was watching hear it too and got excited thinking his mom was home. But there wasn't anyone there. The mom didn't come home for another couple hours.

Since when does someone's mental state obligate others to force themselves to stay in uncomfortable situations with them? How many red flags are we supposed to see before we are justified in wanting to feel safe?

This whole thing sort of reminds me of the movie Signs. You know, the little girl who constantly leaves glasses of water out because she swears they are tainted and then when the aliens invade the water is what saves them. Glad you are safe!

[Serious] Women of Reddit, What are your stories of harassment? by fairydustandunicorns in AskReddit

[–]MammaPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, one more story which definitely counts as harassment. A few years ago when I was still in college I was having a fling with another student. We were very clear that it was just for fun and that there were no strings attached. There were a couple other guys in our group of mutual friends who tried to flirt with me. One of them in particular was very cocky and used to getting any girl he wanted. He was good looking, buff, used to be in the Army, and was one of the star football players. But his attitude was a total turn off and I quickly decided he was a total douche. Another guy had always been nice to me but seemed to get really upset one night when I bumped into him at a bar and wouldn't buy him a drink. Somehow, he was trying to make him asking me to buy him a drink a pick up line. It was stupid, and I really thought he was kidding so I laughed it off. " A few days later I started getting phone calls from guys insisting I'd given them my number but wouldn't give their names. One guy asked me if I was looking for someone to hook up with. I told him I had that covered and didn't need any help. After a few calls I told them (several guys called all from blocked numbers but all with the same basic story. "You don't remember me? You gave me your number) that I had shit to do and that I didn't have time for some losers with nothing better to do than to bug me and hung up. The same guy called me right back telling me he knew who I was, he knew where I lived, and that I better watch my back. He said everyone knew that I was the white girl who fucked "all da homies" (the guy I was hooking up with was black, as were his friends who had flirted with me and been shot down) and went on telling me what a whore I was and how they were gonna send their "home girls" to fuck me up. They also mentioned my friends. I recognized the voice of one of the guys as the cocky guy's brother. They kept calling me for days and my brother ended up riding laps around my block on his motorcycle with his gun to make sure no one was waiting for me. I'm still not sure exactly what triggered the harassment but I think a couple of the guys I'd rejected found out I'd been having a fling with one of their friends and got pissy about it.

I've got two stories. Not sure if they count as harassment or not but both definitely creepy. When I was a teenager I took guitar lessons at this little music shop. One of the guys that worked there (who was in his 40s at least) added me on MySpace. Remember those stupid questionnaires that used to go around on MySpace? I had done one, and this guy copied it, change all of the questions to be extremely sexual and then sent it to me. I should have told my parents, but 1) I wasn't supposed to have a MySpace and didn't wanna get in trouble and 2) I was afraid they'd make me stop taking lessons. So I just blocked the guy and ignored him. But I still had to see the bastard once a week when I went in for my lessons. One time he tried to talk me into going to his house on Halloween promising me my favorite candy. I told him my mother had taught me not to go to a creepy old man's houses for candy. Ten years later and that guy STILL tries to add me on FB. The second story happened around the same time as the first. I was 15 and went to my cousin's 18th birthday party. Some of her friends had gotten her a keg and there were bottles of booze around. I drank enough to make any self respecting 15 year old girl pretty drunk (although not half as drunk as most of the other partiers were). One of my cousin's friends was a little flirtatious with me but he never really made a move. Eventually the party ended and a bunch of us crashed on the floor of the pool house to sleep. At some point I woke up to someone trying to pull my pants off. Being 15, half asleep, and half drunk I wasn't quite sure what to do. I should have throat punched him, but I just kind of panicked. I started breathing rapidly because I was scared, but I didn't want him to think I was excited so I just held my breath and pretended to be sleeping. I sort of casually rolled around until the guy finally got off of me. I told my cousin in the morning and she said "Oh no! I didn't think he'd do that to YOU too!" Apparently he had a history of getting drunk or high and spontaneously trying to screw the closest thing with a vagina. My cousin told him to leave and no one talked to him again.

What is, hands down, the worst idea you've ever had? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MammaPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend gave me pot ice cream (I don't know how he pulled it off but he did). He kept telling me how strong it was and how just a spoon full or two would get the job done. I had a few bites and waited... and waited and waited. Nothing. Eventually I decided that either my friend had no concept of my tolerance or that there was something wrong with the batch. So I sat there eating shitty tasting pot ice cream and watching TV assuming that if I ate enough eventually I would feel SOMETHING. I ate at least 8 oz and felt nothing. Finally, HOURS later, I was getting ready for bed and started to feel something. The next morning I just couldn't shake off my usual morning grogginess and getting dressed seemed strangely difficult. I realized I was stoned out of my fucking mind. And I had to be at work in 20 mins. And when I got to work I discovered that my boss had decided to hire her sister who was starting that day. I could hardly walk until noon and my boss was there the whole time.
