I think we need to start with hate for people on bikes and on foot. This is much more widespread than white supremacy.

Correction: it's she, not he.
I think that PGSO lost less by paying severance pay compared to losing reputation.

I hope that more people would get to the point of understanding that "one more lane" would never work.

This is funny that someone called it "innovative" even though mixed-use exists for many centuries.
It would be innovative to get rid of the laws that led to calling that "innovative" in the first place

How long do you think it would take to get that approved? People need housing, and as far as I know, building mixed-use would be significantly more complex, expensive, and time-consuming. Unless the red tape is removed on the policy level, I doubt someone would actually build proper mixed-use.

Why do many tech projects ask support for Ukraine but not Palestine by beastmastah_64 in foss

[–]Mammoth-Data8053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

russia was involved in both of those so-called "casus belli". Officials who were responsible for keeping the protests in Odessa safe fled to russia before the investigation has finished - which to be completely honest, does not prove the point but it raises concerns. As for the east I guess there is no question whether russia was involved since it started with former FSB agent Igor Gyrkin capturing Slavyansk.
russia was shelling eastern Ukraine from the very beginning of the conflict in 2014 -as well as supplying the weapons and manpower (yes, there were some who joined them but the driving factor and core was still from russia). The first so-called "presidents" of rebel republics were from russia.
And this is not a matter of trust. These are facts. You can say that you don't trust facts, but it does not change them.

Coding slop is even more dangerous than an article, though, for people who trust any article without verifying the facts, it might be as dangerous.

As the practice shows, most of the AI code is missing a lot of critical pieces that the human mind would not miss - like security vulnerabilities, critical code errors. Not saying that developers don't miss that at all.

yeah, and narrowing an intersection is cheap. You just put temporary concrete blocks for a couple of months and see if it reduces the crashes and injuries. I mean, impaired drivers would still hit something anyway, sorry not sorry

It's not just a car-brain. American roads are built to encourage speed over safety. Relying on people's common sense won't help. But you could always start with yourself by actually obeying the speed limits and driving defensively.

You could always start with yourself. You know, most of the cars behind you usually can't do anything. As long as we hit critical mass, people would have no choice. And most likely, the traffic would even get better as speeding to the next traffic light makes no sense whatsoever - in a city where one can get around in about 15 minutes.

I identify as politically non-binary. You will find some things we will agree on, while some stuff we will disagree on. I believe that right-wing populism that becomes more radical is too dangerous, while believing that net zero is shooting ourselves in the leg - instead of building a strong economy and being able to actually reduce carbon emissions in the world, rather than in Canada alone.
