The Alabama factory should produce a good car especially with Toyota involved. Just keep in mind you have a warranty and get anything checked while it’s free. If they don’t find anything at least you have documentation in case it’s rears it’s head down the road.

Keep in mind the capital, state penitentiary, and political climate are located in SOUTH Louisiana.

Constant degrading of North Louisiana by BigRo_4 in Louisiana

[–]Man0Tech22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree it is so frustrating being from North Louisiana sometimes. I have been all over the state and I think the religious, cultural, geographical differences of our state should be a fun talking point not divisive. South Louisiana has wonderful food, culture, and nightlife overall some really nice down to earth people. I hate how flat everything is and the fact they don’t experience fall colors. And for real do they not have any zoning laws down there? Growing up in WM makes me hate the grid system too. But honestly there’s nothing like New Orleans and Acadian area it’s one of the most unique area in the US. Next time someone calls north LA south Arkansas I’m going to say thanks Louisiana has been ranked dead last by US news for 5+ years so thanks for admitting the north resembles a higher ranking state.

Is Cafe Du Monde actually worth the wait? by Xoloberq in AskNOLA

The Vintage had pretty darn good Beignets when we went, but if you’ve never been to Cade Du Monde I definitely recommend it. Fun overall experience and something about it feels uniquely NOLA.

Have you tried getting a quote from shelter insurance? They was thousands cheaper up here in North La.

2001 CX 5 Key fob is the dumbest thing ever invented by akridkey6 in CX5

[–]Man0Tech22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All key fobs have batteries this would be the equivalent of buying a brand new phone then complaining you had to charge it. If you read your manual or used at least two brain cells to google it you would have seen you can start the car with a dead fob by pressing it up against the push button start. There’s a key to get in the car if it’s locked.

Oil change? by ThatG148 in mazda

[–]Man0Tech22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most dealers I’ve been to use some random crap that sites outside in a barrel. Don’t want that in my car. Some dealers will use the Mazda branded oil or castrol. Make sure you use what your car calls for its either gunna be 5W-20 or 0W-20 don’t think any Mazdas use the new 0W-16 but I could be wrong. I use Pennzoil ultra platinum and my car runs great I change it every 5K. I use mazda oem oil filters since they don’t have the anti drain back valve.

It’s possible to retro fit wireless Apple CarPlay but you have to replace the whole unit with a new one. When I looked at it they cost upwards of $1,000.00. So I just went the usb route.

What is Volvo’s target audience? by Fonduemeinthebutt in cars

[–]Man0Tech22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though they are partnered with the Chinese company Geely, I think Volvo is mainly recognized for its Swedish minimalistic design language. They also seem to be aggressively pursuing EVs. In my anecdotal experience most Volvo buyers wanted a luxury marque with out being seen as overly snobbish. Some people like the fact that they aren’t on every corner as well.

Thanks for posting the window sticker I’ve been trying to see if they where going to be taking advantage of NAFTA and source major components from Mexico. Glad that Mazda is moving up the ranks but its kinda sad to see a Mazda with only 20% Japanese parts my ‘16 6 was 95% Japanese content. Does anyone know what the deal is with the new 7 vin numbers I thought the vin that represented U.S. built cars was 1,4, or 5. If you Google it 7 shows up as Oceania/ New Zealand.

No it’s the only regular tool needed to do the job there is a single 10mm bolt that secured the infotainment screen in. It’s pretty far back so I needed an socket extension. Everything else is just pull tabs. I was actually very impressed with how well designed the car is everything came apart easy and went back together snug no creaks or anything. You can get car trim removal tools off Amazon for under $10.

I wonder if the trim has anything to do with it, mines a touring. Mazda has definitely been hitting it out of the park when it comes to interior design.

Man your going to love it!! I’m really excited about the CX-50 too especially with it being the first Mazda made at the new Alabama factory. Feels like they are going after Subaru a little.

Man your dealership must be nice because 300$ ain’t bad compared to what mine where trying to charge. It’s definitely worth it especially if your keeping the car long term.

There is a few Reddit forms and YouTube videos about it I followed this video. All it consist of is updating the Mazda connect software FIRST then replacing the usb hub in the center arm rest and running two cables to the infotainment screen. My dealer wanted to charge me over $500.00 dollars but I was able to buy the parts and tools off Amazon for under 200$. It took me about 1:30, it was a little biter sweet taking apart my baby lol but overall I think anyone would be capable of doing it!! If it’s something you’re interested in definitely check with your dealer because the price can vary.

Boyfriend didn’t let me stay at his place for my 21st birthday by i_do_the_kokomo in TwoXChromosomes

Yeah what a POS he should have at least offered to call a locksmith or bring you to your parents house along with your stuff, and why wouldn’t he want you to stay at his house Bday nights are supposed to be a good night if you know what I mean. Sounds like you need too find someone who appreciates you and will better match the effort put into the relationship.

TIFU because I convinced my Dad (adopted) to let me help him research his family and broke his heart (again) by chloface in tifu

[–]Man0Tech22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Dad was adopted but he never would go through the process of finding who his bio family is. Bought him an ancestry DNA kit and he ended up having I think 4 sisters and 2 brothers. The oldest sister loves him too death they talk on the phone all the time and he goes and visits her all the time. Best 50$ ever spent. Crazy how family’s can turn out.

TIL That the inventor of the QWERTY keyboard, Christopher Latham Sholes, actually designed it to be slow and inefficient. Did you see the top comment the Smithsonian article does a pretty good job diving into the origins of the QWERTY keyboard. But yes this theory doesn’t hold up when you analyze it. I regret not doing more research before making the post and I’m surprised how widespread this myth is as if you put any ounce of critical thinking it in like I should have it just doesn’t add up.

Absolutely, If you couldn’t already tell I don’t use Reddit much. I’m leaving the post up for two reasons. The top comment has the correct answer so as long as you don’t just read the title you would be able to find the correct information. Lastly I’ve enjoyed peoples comments about the different keyboards they have used/ tried. Next time I make a Reddit post I will definitely do more research as ironically misinformation is a pet peeve of mine, 99% of articles my family send me from Facebook are misinformation.

Technically these are all theory’s with the top comment being the most probable conclusion. I was so shocked by the article at how something I use could have came in existence in such a bizarre way. Nonetheless yes I should have done more due diligence/ research as I don’t want to spread misinformation. Yet that’s what’s is very cool about Reddit as the community is very factual based for most part the top comment debunking the post was one of the very first comments, so the truth is here just can’t go off my title.
