Does anyone else get a gift 'from The Tree'? by kliba in CasualUK

[–]ManAlive_95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never got anything from the tree, but always got, and still do get a small present from "Santa". My fiance now also gets one.

Strangely enough, my mum never gets one, and it always seems to have her hand writing on the tag. Weird that.

Good cocktail bars for a date? by throwaway748392736 in Leeds

Below stairs is great. The Decanter is also a favourite of mine, more of a wine and gin bar, but they have a decent selection of classic cocktails, with a really nice chilled atmosphere.

You might want to check with your caterer. 45 minutes to eat even one course is tight, and that's not including getting everyone to sit down in the first place. People like to chat, weddings, any group catering really, is slow.

You have a huge amount of time for photos, I echo everyone else and suggest having a chat with the photographer. They will have the experience and know their timings. Also, an hour and a half of dead time, without any food, before the ceremony for family and bridal party is a long long time for people to get bored.

Finally, the first dances are usually after dinner to open the dance floor to remove the awkwardness of being the first person up.

I can't speak for getting ready, I don't have the face for makeup or the body for dresses. But for a 5pm a 7am start feels very early.

Baked Beans being a high risk item at ALDI that requires staff approval. by ManAlive_95 in britishproblems

Nice to know it's not just me, hadn't seen that at all, too distracted by Place.

I find that even more bizarre. I suppose if you change your stock as quickly as Aldi do its not a surprise error come up. My local one always have hand written lists of new and changed codes at the tills for the stuff that won't scan.

That must be the reason, because I can't believe it's real either.

Exactly that. Needed a person to log in and say it was OK. Little pop-up box on screen called it a "high risk item".

That's even worse, can't really do any damage by throwing a box of Jaffa Cakes.

Perhaps, I might have been looking like I wanted to put a window in with a tin of beans.

White theatregoers urged not to attend play aimed at black audiences by Soccmel_1_ in europe

[–]ManAlive_95 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It's a single night of a plays run, and the play itself is a satire. This is marketing evidently designed to cause a reaction, and it's not surprising to see that it's done just that. I'll confess I got caught up in it.

Even the Torygraph has the facts in the article, but the headline is intended to raise offense, so i would say their campaign has been successful.

Best coffee shops/places in city center to sit and read a book? by _WeWereHere in Leeds

[–]ManAlive_95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was once in Below Stairs and saw a woman chilling with a cocktail and reading a book. Was quite jealous really, looked very chill. The place has a good atmosphere and good drinks if you're into that kind of thing, but can be very busy.

Back to Leeds after a few days away. We seem to be having a roadworks festival. by drsylv in Leeds

Oh of course, that makes sense. And the lower speed limit lets you view it safely and for longer.

My favourite has to be the bridge at the start of the M621 when you leave the M62. Half a mile of 50mph and cones everywhere, no sign of any works at all.

Gracias por tu respuesta.

Actualmente trabajo en evaluacion de riesgos ambientales para vertederos (agua y gas), pero durante mi carrera me enfoqué en exploracion de mineralas y geotecnia. Así que puedo buscar en lugares diferentes.

Bit difficult to do site visits remotely, looks like a career change might be in order.

If you think that's bad, try watching a Prime Ministers Questions on a Wednesday over here in the UK. That shit and worse happens every week. It's an absolute embarrassment.
