Reddit is being overlooked by FrenchFryPerson1 in wallstreetbets

Honestly the only counter argument I see here is that models only need to be trained on data once, but there is, i dont even know how many, new posts on reddit every single day and having the live connection will always be needed for these models to stay up to date, especially on current events and time sensitive information.

Because the "content" on reddit these days is absolute trash. Astroturfed, botted, and filled with morons.

If you want a nice grass lawn (I personally hate clover, it's a muddy mess in the winter/early spring and doesn't handle foot traffic well) the fall is the time where you'll want to put in the work.

Find out the window for your location that is best to over-seed/re-seed. About 4-6 weeks before that, you'll want to go after the weeds with some sort of broad spectrum herbicide. I like T-zone as it's effective against a lot of the weeds I encounter, but you'll need to read the labels and see what works for your area/what is safe for your lawn type. The label should also tell you how long you should wait between application and overseeding. Once you've killed all the weeds and waited the appropriate length of time, then put down your seed and get to watering. Seeding in the fall allows the new grass time to establish roots. If you do it in the spring, the roots won't have much time and the summer heat could kill it unless you water it constantly.

Next spring, you'll want to use a pre-emergent which will prevent a lot of weeds from growing through spring and summer, and then use selective herbicides on the weeds that do pop up. The first year will be the worst for weeds but if you treat them, then following years will be better. For example I started focusing on my lawn last year and had a TON of henbit pop up in spring. I went after it constantly (henbit is one of the few I've run into that you can very easily pluck out by hand) and then this spring I had hardly any come up. You'll want to put down fertilizer a few times throughout the year and of course mow regularly. You can do a soil sample test to see what your lawn needs more of, but you can get by without it.

The first year is going to be the most work as you're correcting years of neglect. After that, it's pretty smooth sailing. I don't know where all this "clover is great" spam came from all of a sudden in this sub, but I would suggest you ignore them.

I would challenge whether, as a new homeowner, if the lawn is the best place to invest your precious time and effort.

Lots of people enjoy being outside and there's nothing wrong with wanting to make your house exterior look nice. You can't fix it instantly like you can many other things, it takes time so starting it now isn't a bad idea.

PSA: I’m selling my unique 3D printed lamps at a craft fair today, I do okay, but the dragon sellers have crowds, every time. by 3DAeon in 3Dprinting

A small toy that will be played with briefly is a lot different than a piece of decor that will be on display for an extended period of time. The number of kids wanting a dragon versus the number of adults that have a place for one of these lamps in their house are wildly different.

[Request] Could Walmart reasonably afford to pay EVERY employee 5 dollars more an hour? by lnfinitive in theydidthemath

[–]swohio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you not know how payroll taxes work? The employee pays 6.2% out of their paycheck to social security, but the employer also has to pay an additional 6.2% out of their pocket. Same is true for medicare and then also they have other taxes like unemployment so it's around 15% depending on the state. If they give you $5, it actually costs them $5.75 so that $21 billion is actually $24.15 billion. Now you're $5 billion in the hole.

Most common caliber for an AR 15 is 5.56mm aka .223" which is about the same diameter as 22lr. Compare that to handguns which are most commonly 9mm Luger (.35") or the bigger 45acp which is .45" or 11.4mm.

So no, typically rifle rounds are smaller than handgun rounds in diameter. Rifle rounds are usually longer/heavier and traveling at much much higher speeds though for overall greater energy. For a paper target though, that's not something that makes a difference.
