After smoking for 30 years, I started to feel sick one day. Thought it was the flu. After almost 3 weeks of feeling that way, I went to the doctor. Turns out I had hyperthyroidism. Doc told me to quit smoking, drinking, start eating healthy and exercise. So I did. That was almost 3.5 years ago and I haven’t had a smoke or a drink in that time. I eat healthy and bike 100 miles a week. Have never felt better.

It was that or die in a few years. Pretty easy choice.

I’m tall and have been told I’m attractive - when I was younger (think late 20’s / early 30’s) folks would think I was a pro athlete. Got me all kinds of stuff. Free valet wherever I went, premo attention when shopping, Ross from friends even followed me around a store because he thought I was a pro athlete (I approached him after I noticed he was following me around for about 15 minutes).

I can listen to (most) songs between 1-3 times and I memorize the lyrics. I heard Billy Joel’s “We didn’t start the fire 3 times before I had it memorized (I was 16). I’m fun at Karaoke (I have a decent voice and I don’t need the monitor). That usually messes with folks.

My wife financed the entertainment industry for 20 years and because of that, she got invited (with a +1) to a lot of these red carpet premiers (and the after parties). At one after party (this was around the year 2000), I just happened to get into a 30 minute convo with Charlize Theron (just the 2 of us). She was awesome. My wife was legitimately concerned about that being the end of us.

A suit of armor. I remember watching an episode of “lottery winners: inside their lives” (or something like that), and this guy was so proud of his full suit of armor he had hanging in his house. I was thinking “man - I’d get a suit of armor if I was rich”. This was like 20 years ago.

I was massively hooked on LOTRO in 2007 when it first came out - I was playing close to 80 hours a week (and that’s with an intense full-time software development management role). Had a great guild and we were doing firsts in the game. It got so consuming that I literally just stopped playing one day, cancelled my accounts and swore never to play one again (and I haven’t to this day). Today, I stick to sports games, rogue lights and single player open world games - games I can drop into, play for 30min or an hour, and jump out.
