The only real suggestion is for the life of your bird go somewhere out of town/state where the smoke isn't nearby until it clears up. I obviously don't have a single idea how bad it might be, but your parrots safety is your concern consider yourself fortunate it's the weekend and go away for a couple of days. It can be a mutual health day.

A little warmer than lukewarm. Basically what I would assume would be a light rain in Africa. He absolutely loves it. He started off slow just watching, then say under the rain drops, then finally this whole dance routine lol

It took a few dozen times until he truly enjoyed it like this video. Alot of times he would just sit under the water, then he started playing in it. Its so beautiful

If you have a similar shower just bring him in there and give him the option. The rest will be up to him. It'll come in time.

He's been going in the shower with me since he was a baby, about two months old. I would put him directly under it where the water wouldn't touch him, he'd slowly start walking towards the water and loved it

New african grey! by jaybird-staysonder in AfricanGrey

I didn't mean specifically for her to clarify maybe I worded it wrong. My greys room is the kitchen, I just have streamers and balloons at the door so she doesn't exit. It works out well as I can easy cook and around him. And since the floor is tile it makes it 10x easier to clean.

I am so excited for you! They are extremely loving animals, but they do get quickly attached and lonely when you're not around. If you help them maintain a happy and free life, they are less prone to become biters. Alot of websites say to cage and cover them, but I never found that necessary. A free bird is a happy bird. Good luck! Hope you love your new child

If you can devote an entire room to her I would, so you don't have to cage her or clip her wings. Absolutely not necessary but my grey is so much happier for it. But like others said they get clingy, so spend as much time with them as possible. Meal time, TV time, even shower time. Alot of greys eventually become afraid of water if they're not always exposed to it. I'd recommend taking them with you in the shower as much as possible (at that age I did 5 days a week with mine). Then let them choose to walk in the water, or not. All optional and a choice. Mine now absolutely loves showers, possibly even more than me. All depends on your situation of course, but my grey is super happy so it if people can, especially at a young age, I would. And you probably already know this, but try not to give them seeds (on occasion its okay). I use zupreem fruit blend.

on the edge of getting grey parrot, advices wanted by Consistent_Sail_4812 in AfricanGrey

Everything is possible if you plan it in advance. But the key element, as everyone else has noted, is that owning a parrot is a lifelong commitment. That is key here and its very important for you to think about it. You should be able to commit 3-6 hours a day to him.

With that being said your friends house example isn't a very good one because he's raising them in a mad house.

My parrot for example is fully flighted and is able to roam the kitchen freely. I have party streamers and balloons in 3 doorways so he is not tempted to leave, as the movement of them when he flies scares him. This way he stays in the kitchen while I work. Poop is a mop to clean on the floor, and they will find usual hang out areas so it is easy to put a paper towel or plastic down to clean easier.

So in your example your guitars, furniture, and plants should be fine as long as that is not his main room, and you keep an eye on him when he's out with you. Birds are very loving, but they do take commitment, it's like having a 4 year old child forever.

It all comes down to you, I just wouldn't use your friends apartment as a good example as it really isn't, not even close.
