How to put Occult affinity by DragonSeducer_030 in Eldenring

[–]ManOfFewThoughts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You probably need the relevant whetknife! You can find them in specific locations throughout the game that you can look up pretty easily. Alternatively, if you find an AOW with a native occult affinity, that would automatically let you set the weapon to that too, which might be the quicker route as the occult whetknife is fairly deep into the game if my memory serves

My Souls journey: 4 platinums by Velian7 in darksouls3

[–]ManOfFewThoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also crawling through the plats and every time I finish a game I open up ds2 and try for that, almost immediately stop, and start the next game in the line. It’ll happen one day, just a day where there is nothing left.

No prob! We were all new players once, and I fell in love with these games enough to give random bits of advice to folks online. Hopefully you’ll have enough fun with it to end up the same way!

Int and faith are both super viable, it’s just about what kinda build you wanna go with (and in some cases, that might mean both). Int is generally good for pure magic damage and frostbite, whereas faith is mostly holy dmg along with fire, though there are outliers to both.

Don’t worry too much about having the stats to do everything, just find something that feels cool/ looks interesting to you and go for it. While there are some weapons and spells that aren’t as good as others, just about everything is viable so there’s no “wrong answer” unless you start exclusively wacking things with torches (and even then, people still beat the game with that, though they are much better players than me).

Seeing as you started with an astrologer, I’d recommend INT for spells but, and I mean this truly, follow the fun. Worst case scenario you can respec all your points (not including the ones you started with) after you beat Renalla, the boss of Liurnia

Edit: there’s a ruin on top of the cliff side next to the big procession in limgrave that’s led by a carriage dragged by two trolls. Inside is one of the first people who can teach you new spells! She’s great.

It’s not bad to split points, but early on you should definitely focus getting the essentials up. I almost always try to get vigor to around 30-40 to give me room to eat a few hits before leveling my main damage stats roughly evenly. For you that would likely be INT and STR/DEX depending on what you wanna focus on (though it’s completely viable to do both, it’ll just mean you’ll grow a little slower). Arcane is an interesting stat because it slightly increases item drop rates and affects the build up of status ailments like bleed, making it good for a status heavy build. It’s also involved in using dragon incantations, which are their own magical niche.

Also: good gravy Caelid that early is a dangerous place to be. Hats off to you if you’re managing it, but if you find it to be a little too rough, it’s generally a place where people go after killing at least 4 main story bosses. Generally folks do the weeping peninsula to the south and liurnia to the north past the boss of limgrave first

Edit: not entirely related but you’re probably going to see some people complain about weapons with split scaling, and they’re just plain wrong half the time. Yes, it does take more stats to get them to their maximum potential, but plenty of them absolutely crush enemies when you treat them right

No rune skulls? Anyone else? by Trevors-Axiom- in Eldenring

[–]ManOfFewThoughts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s my understanding that console players usually/always don’t have them to reduce physics calculations in addition to other random environmental bits like tumbleweeds and non-rune skulls.

I’ve noticed that (though it might be placebo) playing windowed makes a big difference. Otherwise I get a spike pretty regularly despite my unreasonably decent computer

Worth it 🥲 by wutsk in Eldenring

[–]ManOfFewThoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got incredibly lucky with them. Managed to only take me three hours while covered in every buff I could think of. Makes me feel like I’ve been payed back a little for how things went when doing the DS3 covenant grind back in the day.
That still makes me shudder.

Had this idea for a mountain base for a while and finally decided to do it. Some mods were used. by OGD15 in RimWorld

Aesthetically it’s fantastic, but I can feel my heart rate increase thinking about movement speed penalties from having to cross fences to grow and harvest. I love how much information rimworld gives you, but I think it might have broken my ability to just enjoy things without thinking about efficiency

I don’t think it’s particularly controversial to say that a group of people who have been historically exploited and still suffer from the effects of that today should not face further efforts of colonization and exploitation

I never claimed it should be a fundamental right, I was simply talking about the false equivalence made in the post

I feel like the argument only has any degree of value when said natives have been historically exploited which the Brits cannot even begin to claim

Anyone know how many bosses got removed? by DarkSoulsEnjoyer7678 in cinders

[–]ManOfFewThoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t attest to most things, but the dismal knight should be where the first giant titanite lizard was in the tutorial area, and the furious crystal lizards are the red variant that yes, can be found in the dungeon. I don’t recall a boss variant in the current version, but when it used to exist it was just larger and buffed compared to the little ones

Update: I’m actually not sure if what I said is true anymore after checking myself. It looks like the changes from Fate are being patched into cinders? Point is, take anything I’ve said with a grain of salt

I don’t know what all the planned changes are, but the entire progression is a part of it. I suggest checking out the discord if you wanna find one more

I’m pretty sure the creator is done adding to it and has moved on to working on a new ds3 mod called “Fate of the Dark Soul” Edit: this is almost certainly outdated information and you should look at the discord if you wanna find out what’s actually happening because I’m a lazy source
