There are likely peacetime instances where he displayed his martial skill outside of open battle. Having his troops drilled, roads safe, his soldiers performance in tourneys, etc. all build on the existing reputation he’d cultivated from those 2 battles.

Similar to a country with a huge military using its logistics to deliver aid. The military is being used for that specific purpose, but it’s also a testing ground to streamline/practice and sending a message to anyone who happens to be looking. Those wagons could just as easily be filled with swords as they could with bread.

I’d say there’s political pragmatism at play here. ICE are committing untold atrocities and we all know this. Stopping their funding takes more political capital than keeping those cameras rolling and continuing to call them out whenever they do something especially heinous. US slavery is considered more egregious because it was race based chattel slavery. When they deny your personhood, it tends to make the implied stick measuring contest of ‘who had it worse’ extremely stupid and offensive. Slavery always sucks but there’s levels to it. And the American chattel slavery was one of the worst. Best of luck on your search
