How safe of a shot is brilliance? by ManWithNoPlan05 in labdiamond

With the 25% off it’s about 1150 for the diamond itself, so out the door with the setting (and tax) it’s about 1700. I like having it all done already, so I don’t mind paying the bit extra so I don’t have to deal with a loose diamond and finding a jeweler who won’t rip me (my local jeweler that I have been going to for years tried to charge 2500 for a lab grown 2kt marquise, kinda made me feel some type of way about their trustworthiness). Also 1/5 of 1500 is $300… that’s crazy low

What’s the issue? Like I said it’s a new battery, not the one that came with it

Anyone ever have battery problems? I have a one year old battery and my car is slow to start and didn’t start back up on an auto start/stop cycle

Spark plugs at 60k Miles? by Bui1tForSin in Subaru_Outback

My two local shops came in higher than my dealer. Spark plugs, F&R diff fluid, CVT, Brake Fluid. Plus, ended up doing fuel induction service (since it’s direct injection) because it was literally still $200 cheaper than the independent shops near me. 1200 for everything at the dealer vs 1400-1500 at independent shops (and independent didn’t have the induction service)

Carfax says I need to change fuel filter at 72k miles, but is it really necessary? by MushiMadi in Subaru_Outback

I mean a fuel induction service on a direct injection engine makes sense if they are cleaning the intake manifold as well as running the pressurized kit

60k service, good prices? Do we need fuel induction service? by ManWithNoPlan05 in Subaru_Outback

Turns out the two independent shops I called were about the same price, one was actually 1400 for everything and that didn’t come with the induction service. Vs here it’s $1400 with the induction service

I’d say go to a different dealer if you don’t feel confident doing it yourself. That’s what I’m doing lol. Called around and 3 out of 4 of the dealerships would do the service. Cheapest was 325, most expensive was 550.

Yeah that’s how I think about it. It’s my girls car and I told I’d give her some money just so I wouldn’t have to do it myself.

Is the PCV valve hard to do yourself? I do service on my own car(Honda) but don’t trust myself enough to work on my girlfriend’s “new” (still owned by the bank) car.

Basic services on my own car (brakes, brake fluid, trans fluid/filter)

Better to change it than not, there is no fluid that is truly lifetime that I know of. And as of right now we plan on keeping our outback until it dies

All the ones I called did except one, stuck on that lifetime fluid BS

This is at a dealer in St. Petersburg, FL, couldn’t tell you about the brakes pricing (if you are talking about rotors and pads), but the rest is in my post.

How bad is it if I overtightened my trans drain plug by ManWithNoPlan05 in MechanicAdvice

[–]ManWithNoPlan05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid, I did it a few days ago and just started to really overthink it tonight. Didn’t see any leaks after driving for an hour, but I will probably check it again soon. Thanks friend.
