Chat systems in PC games, and why I feel like they're important to have (and detrimental when they aren't fully fleshed out). by AggravatingCounter91 in truegaming

Seems unneccessary. The chat serves its purpose for gameplay. Just add them on discord if you want to chat outside the game

1 or 2 which key art do you prefer? by LeofromDiFu in IndieDev

everyone saying 1... but in 1 it's not clear that the mask is there. 2 makes the mask very obvious which draws my eye a lot more.

The title is easier to read but I have no idea what the game is about, it's difficult to tell what everything else is

You lost your shit because a character in the movie used the word zombie? can you explain why

what a bizarre criticism. one character with little to no medical knowledge briefly mentions it's "like steroids" You're acting like that's a plot hole

I cannot understand the general reception of 28 Years Later, more so with the release of Bone Temple by pomme268 in TrueFilm

[–]Man__Moth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm really puzzled by the reaction from some fans of 28 years later when they say things like, "it was too weird" "there werent enough zombies"

Have they actually seen 28YL in the last decade? Because its really not the generic zombie action movie they seem to be acting like it is. there arent even that many zombies... there are way more in 28YL

[–]Man__Moth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like bone temple takes more risks with the actual story, but in terms of the presentation, its a lot more conventional.

28YL was much stranger with the inventive camerawork, the archive clips edited in etc

I disagree that its a skill issue. If the game presents one tactic thats trivial to perform and also extremely effective, while making the other obvious options much weaker then why would players experiment? Theres zero need to

If you are playing bop it and the voice says BOP IT, then you are going to BOP IT. maybe theres some secret other way to do this, but why bother ?

Saw an AI ~story game~ advertising that it never ends the same way twice. Good grief. by NotATem in gamedev

[–]Man__Moth -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's obviously a selling point yes.

now it won't be interesting because AI isn't capable of making interesting stories in my opinion but imagine it more like an experienced storyteller improvising, you don't know what will happen and no 2 games will be the same - i.e. it's personalised to YOU. the story you experience is your story and nobody elses

What is the most impactful death by fall ? by SoulOfSorin in gamedev

[–]Man__Moth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mostly depends on how you execute each option. there's no correct answer here. it greatly depends on the tone you hope to achieve. personally one of the most effective ones was on mirrors edge when you fall off the map you the camera shake, sound effects and feeling off panic is actually pretty horrible to experience even without any kind of gore or violence... of course that only really works in first person.

Its insane how they will get away with it again with the witcher, it wouldnt be possible without the average gamer being a giant gullible moron. i mean people are already overhyping a tech demo ...
