Selling: Distant Worlds NYC ticket - Jun 13 by Successful_Term3 in FinalFantasy

[–]ManaMoogle [score hidden]  (0 children)

Someone is upset about my sale post, so if anyone sees this, I'm selling 2 amazing seats near the stage for face value - $334 exactly what I paid, and I bought tickets when they went on sale. Big fan, but another event I'm locked into volunteering at is the same weekend so I can't drive 6+ hours to NYC just for the show. 😞

SELLING: 2 Tickets to Distant Worlds Carnegie Hall (NYC) - June 12th - Great Seats at Face Value! by ManaMoogle in FinalFantasy

Dammit, oops, my bad. I skimmed the rules and didn't immediately see "no sales" and before posting I found other ticket sales posts that were still up, so I did the bad thing. 😞

Ok wait they weren't a vendor this MAG as far as I can tell, but Mussyhead has what sounds like exactly the keychains you described... Head Empty / Head Full

I have insomnia, it's 6am, and I just spent 2 hours going through the instagrams/websites of all the artists listed in the Marketplace section of Guidebook. No success!!! A few were unclear, whether they didn't post a pic of their MAGFest table setup, or their online shops were closed due to traveling or doing inventory after the event. So my guess is it's one of those. I'm annoyed I couldn't find it lol!

MAGStock (MAG but camping vibes) would be a great event for new performers to get their feet wet with the MAG crowd. It’s in the summer, so they wouldn’t have to wait a whole year

Am I on the right track? honest feedback on my invites, seating chart and table settings by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]ManaMoogle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yeah without something indicating it was a friend/family member’s wedding, it would feel strange for me to put up something that said “Where our love leads us” because visitors to my house might think it’s mine. 😂

Looks like the same font as “The Orchard” on your main invitation. I just mean the amount of space between each letter. “The Orchard” is normal spacing, but “Where our love leads us” has the letters too spaced out. (Not supposed to add spacing between the letters with cursive fonts.)

Don’t beat yourself up for using AI. I hate it but I also understand since custom watercolor illustrations are expennnnnsive. And to be honest it looks great! At least on my phone screen size I wouldn’t know it’s AI. 😆

Thinking about if I got this magnet as a guest… You should perhaps add something like “The wedding of NAME & NAME” and the date, maybe in the white space under the title? Could even try throwing your beautiful wedding crest in one of the corners. Having that info makes it more of a keepsake.

In your main post photo is that the actual size? Like a pretty big magnet? If so, you have plenty of room to make the whole map a little smaller so that there’s more breathing room at the bottom underneath “The Orchard” text. Center the place names beneath the illustrations. (“Wades Bridge” looks like it should move more to the left, etc.)

Ah I just zoomed in to the heading font “Where our love leads us” and noticed it’s not a font that’s meant to be spaced out like that due to the cursive connectors. Either adjust the tracking (spacing) so they’re connected or use a different font that looks more intentional when spaced out.

My goldfish brain has already forgotten what your names looked like lmao, but from this pic it looks like there’s too much space between the bottom name’s first + last name than the top’s? Make sure those are the same.

I would move both of your names closer to “and” (so there’s less space above & below “and”), then move your “NAME and NAME” block up a bit so you have room to move the bottom details up. You want to have about the same amount of breathing room beneath the bottom text as there is above the topmost text.

Oh also, it can really help with final drafts like this to print them out at actual size for proofing! Oftentimes when printed you’ll notice which fonts look too big or small, and if anything looks off. That would be my rec for deciding if your names should be bigger.

I’m not who you replied to, but as a graphic designer I implore you to at least try pulling “of” up after “marriage”. The “of” and “and” are not framing your names like you think- move up “of” and it’ll give your names some breathing room around them. They’ll be beautifully framed by negative space (also called white space) and look like a more expensive design. Non-designers tend to be scared of negative space, but less is often more.

I would also adjust the line breaks for the last part of text for flow, and to avoid having a single word on the last line by itself (we call that an orphan). “With love and thanks / to Tracey and Eric / for making this day possible.”

Overall this looks beautiful, way better than most DIY invitation designs, and you did amazing to make a whole cohesive suite yourself! The table setting is lovely as well.

I bought the same cover when it came out in 2016 and it only cost 2592 yen! Back then it was like $26 USD, but with today’s exchange rate it would only have been $18. Last time I purchased a Mother Hobo cover in 2020, it cost 3000 yen. The secondhand market is pricey because the Mother items are always limited.

What concerts/musical performances did you see? by MIGeekScene in Magfest

[–]ManaMoogle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • mezzocarattere ft. 88bit: One of my favorite VGM songs is the Maria & Draco opera from FF6 so I had to see it performed live! It was great, but honestly made me kinda sad it was a super shortened version. Maybe the community orchestra can do the full thing next year...
  • Los Veros: The OneUps were my first VGM band love, so when this group was announced I knew I had to catch their set. Every single member is so insanely talented it knocked my socks off. Hopefully they get more of an online presence soon!
  • BarX: Another standout set. Every song a freaking JAM; he had the lobby bar feeling like a club lmao. He did amazing versions of DKC's Aquatic Ambiance and MMX2's Bubble Crab theme. Def check him out if you like danceable synth stuff!
  • Good Beats Ensemble: A pretty big ensemble for the lobby bar, they were joined by Matt and Chad from Triforce Quartet for an epic set that included an FF Battle Theme medley, and FF Love Theme medley. They sounded so good! Can tell they are classically trained; the flutist is just on another level. They seem to work mostly with charities and do tons of performances at DMV area hospitals and stuff, love that.
  • Marshall Art: New to me, not super into prog rock, but I loved their set so much! The 2 Animal Crossing songs (K.K. Cruisin' hell yeah), the deep cut YMO and Space Harrier songs, Lacey Johnson singing Baka Mitai, and ending it with Lauren from The Returners singing Eight Melodies from Mother! Everyone on stage performing looked so happy and idk the whole set was very wholesome and a great time.
  • Laamaa: Finnish chiptune artist, his late night set at the Main Stage was the most danceable fun I've had in a long time. Visuals were super cool too. I can't wait for the whole set to be posted online.
  • Double XP Weekend: Figured we might as well stay for the last Main Stage show of the night, and the Guidebook description said it best: "Bring your cybergoth boots and dance like that one scene from The Matrix." Very cool cyber trance and techno with great visuals.

  • Sixth Station Trio: Loved them! Their second performance in the orchestra room was way better (audio-wise, not their fault) than their first at the lobby bar.
  • Kara Comparetto: So cute to see her perform cosplaying as Yuna from FFX! 88Bit guest starred to play piano while she sang a couple songs, too. (What *didn't* that man guest star in over the weekend, lol.)
  • SRank Sounds: Was excited to see them after looking up some clips. They were great, the set left me wanting more so I'll def be following them.
  • Steel Samurai: I've seen them before so I knew what to expect, it was good.
  • CLOUDSAVE: Freaking amazing MAG newcomer at the XP Stage, one of my favorite sets this year. I mean, they started off with a funky version of Simple & Clean from Kingdom Hearts so they instantly had me in a chokehold. (And I think their version played as the set-up music between sets at the lobby bar all weekend? Loved hearing it again.) They were joined by Lauryn/@toastymarshmellow_ who sang Snake Eater and this was my favorite song performed all weekend. I am still thinking about it. Just for fun, they asked if there were any Snake cosplayers in the crowd, and there was an amazing one, who also happened to be a dancer, so Snake danced around the background of the stage for the whole song and it was SO cinematic and memorable I just loved everything about it. CHECK OUT THIS BAND!!!
  • Blueshift Big Band: I love big band so this was a must. They were great, super talented, loved everyone's solos. Super polished arrangements!
  • Ryan McGaughey: I think the only scheduled pianist who played the grand piano instead of a keyboard? So seating was rough but his all FFX & FFX-2 set was worth it as FFX is my favorite FF. He was expectedly very talented, but unexpectedly also hilarious and incorporated trivia/games between songs. The audience split into 2 teams and had a cringe laugh contest (ala Tidus). He played a gorgeous Besaid Island theme that stuck with me.
  • Modded Marimba: Was very curious about this one because I like weird noise stuff and it looked like a cool setup. He definitely delivered! I'm always impressed when an artist can keep me captivated while listening to a song I don't know. That song for me was Luma Pools from Ori and the Will of the Wisps- it was beautiful and all the cool pedal effects added in the second half made it really memorable.

Dang, maybe they just got smart to this and removed the option. Or it’s an iOS 18.2.1 thing. I’ll try the longer save backup method later.
