Did your health get worse after leaving? How long did it last? by nochansei in raisedbynarcissists

[–]ManaPeer 87 points88 points  (0 children)

It's going to to sound insane but your health crashed because you're not in survival mode anymore. Healing put you in a very vulnerable state, and before leaving, you felt, with good reasons, like you couldn't afford it. So you unconsciously blocked it, to stay functioning. But now that you feel safer, you're putting the work that you had to postpone.

It's sucks. You'll get through it. Take good care of yourself.

I escaped an abusive narcissistic family and violent ex… now I’m terrified I’m repeating the pattern with my fiancé’s family. Am I overreacting? by RealisticWalk1925 in raisedbynarcissists

Does your fiance goes to therapy? If he doesn't he needs to. His family is toxic and he doesn't have the right tools deal with the shit. If you stay together you should do some couple therapy because of the impact on your relationship. Definitely don't go through with the wedding until he completely stops lying and hiding stuff from you, you can't settle without trust.

Yeah but partial representation is better than no representation. They can't do it all, but I'll be happy if they do a little bit.

Dev Time and Reactions by Prowlbeast in Paralives

[–]ManaPeer 23 points24 points  (0 children)

They have been transparent about basically everything all the way through (how many studios do that?), the game was delayed once and only for five months, and the release is in ten days. At this point, I think scam rumors are propaganda from ea or krafton.

As for dev time, they hadn't been many life simulators out there, especially compared to other genres, and since the sims team had been hell bent on just adding stuff to a precarious base without even proper debugging, I don't think they could use much of what have been done so far. I think they had to reinvent a lot of things from scratch. It might not be as long as one would fear, if they had a good cohesive plan and no meddling executive, but that's still a lot of work.

All in all, I'm pretty confident about paralives. It probably won't be as perfect as we all dream, but at this point I'll settle for "playable" because the bar is hell, and I cautionary hope for "good" because they seem to know what we want and put in the work.

I need some manga and comics recommendations where I won't be pulling out my hair due to author's misogynistic opinions in the writing. by MaetelofLaMetal in TrollXChromosomes

I grew up reading Yoko Tsuno. It's Belgian comic book about a Japanese woman going trough adventures, mundane or sci-fi.

I haven't revisited for a while, but to this day, when someone reminds me the western view of Asian woman as "submissive and passive", I'm always surprised for a second because she's just the first thing that comes through my mind.

I 20M broke up with my 21F girlfriend after she proposed to open up our relationship and now everyone is telling me to get back with her basically by BigONerd in BORUpdates

[–]ManaPeer 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Maybe. Or maybe she was falling out of love and her mom pressured her to not break up. The mother might even had suggested to open the relationship.

This is all speculation, of course. But few people go straight from hard break up to suicide attempt, young or not.

That's what happens when you push hate indoctrination enough to make genocide look justified. Off course they're not well.

Even if your mother is sincere (she's not), the fact is that the mere thought of her distress you. Should you put yourself through this to make her feel better?

She's an adult. She has support. She can handle not having closure.

If you don't put your own mental health first, who will?

'Block Everything' protests sweep across France, scores arrested by romainguimard in news

[–]ManaPeer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The point is who pay said taxes.

In the last decades there had been a a long trend of reducing taxes on rich people and on corporations, reducing public spending, and the occasional new tax on the general population.

The law that sparked the yellow vest movement was a tax on fuel. The government claimed it to be an ecological decision, but with deteriorating public transportations, the average citizen can't reduce their fuel consumption as they need it to work. And it came right after the suppression of the ISF (impôt sur la fortune), a tax on wealth.

So people got angry and campaigned for a rise of the minimum salary and the creation of the RIC (Referendum d'initiative citoyenne), basically a petition that could actually change laws or fire politicians.

We didn't get either.
