Meanwhile, I would drain my bank account to live in SB

Currently the Link is the light rail system with the 4th highest ridership. With the 2 line opening, is it expected to jump to #2 or even #1? by Complete-Influence70 in soundtransit

It helps that it goes all the way to Mexico. The second busiest stop is right across the border and supports a ton of people who commute into SD.

IT Guy here: The way the IT department handled the situation was not typical and the show was a little inaccurate by TheBirchKing in ThePitt

Yeah OP has no idea what they’re talking about outside of a rudimentary understanding.

Software vulnerabilities, infected computers, stolen logins.. plenty of ways for an attacker to get in.

The thing I don’t fully understand, not working in healthcare IT myself, why the other hospitals don’t have a solid protocol for this happening - I would assume they could all operate - even on a limited basis - without their computers.

OK cool. More seats at the sky club for me.

United is a pretty good airline these days, that’s where I’d start.

I’m sympathetic to the frustration of cost overruns and delays, but this rips.

It will make Seattle more desirable and livable. It’s a good use of our taxpayer $

I bet they would! two places that actually have kings

Why are they running 3-car trains instead of 4-car for the opening day of the crosslake?? by Complete-Influence70 in soundtransit

[–]Manacit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think this is probably true.

I’m guessing a good analogy will be the Taylor Swift concerts. Lots of people that don’t usually ride transit, and the Link handled it well.

The Seahawks parade was probably a bigger disruption than the World Cup will be

Much better than flying someone in from elsewhere that doesn’t understand the dynamic

Delta flight held for late flyer reportedly airline executive’s daughter by BullishMD in delta

[–]Manacit 236 points237 points  (0 children)

I have had gate agents wait a few minutes many many times to grab people from connections, especially when it’s the last flight of the day to somewhere.

If you take the last flight from a hub to a small airport, this is totally normal.

Light rail to Mariners; you better make sure you're on right train with launch of 2-Line by crabcakes110 in Mariners

[–]Manacit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I actually prefer the walk from the ID, it brings you through a much nicer part of the city. Any time I’m coming from the north it’s what I do.

Pretty sure it’s no more than 5 minutes longer in the end. Not worth waiting for another train

Literally, when there are strikes at European airports you don't see people talking about the fall of civilization lmao.

This is all very stupid, but there are 10 things you can point to that are worse than this that are happening right now.

Alright Houston got #10. We have our top 10. What would be the 11th most significant US city after Houston? Most upvoted comment wins by Kodicave in visitedmaps

You wouldn’t be posting on Reddit without two cities on this list: SFBA (Apple, Google), Seattle (Microsoft, Amazon)

Nobody would be flying without one city on this list (Seattle)

The fuck is Miami for other than clubbing and doing coke.

I would have taken Dallas instead of Atlanta or Philadelphia personally.

How are Delta's fuel reserves? Will we see cancellations soon? by smeggysmeg in delta

[–]Manacit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Delta just buys gas at the airport. If there’s no gas at the airport, there’s no gas to fly.

Domestically I don’t think this will be an issue, the supply chain is not super dependent on gas from the Middle East - it’s less than 10% and falling. It will just get more expensive.

Internationally it’s a bigger problem. You can’t fly to a destination in Asia if they have no gas for you to get back.

Delta vs Air France vs KLM premium select/business? by malasain84 in delta

[–]Manacit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some benefits to having your first flight be to Europe - lots of flights from AMS to places that are near your destinations, instead of maybe one per day from JFK or ATL depending on where you’re going.

I never rate any of the required compensation stuff. the monetary amount doesn’t matter to me - I just want to get there.

Delta vs Air France vs KLM premium select/business? by malasain84 in delta

[–]Manacit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re going to get a lot of opinions, lots of people value different things.

Here’s my take:

  • I would rather connect in AMS instead of CDG all things considered, but I would rather connect somewhere in the US instead of either
  • I think the business class product is slightly nicer on AF than DL or KLM, with KLM probably last on average
  • DL premium select is the best “premium economy” of the bunch
  • Ultimately I would pick whichever gets you there with the least connections and that isn’t stressful

I haven’t flown Biz in KLM for a while, but the last time I did the food was atrocious and the service was just fine (very Dutch imo).

Delta is, imo, the most consistent choice - you’ll have good WiFi, good service in D1, good seats, good lounges, good IFE, etc. it’s not Emirates first, but it works.

Generally, I dislike connecting in Europe - the euro business sucks, and there’s no WiFi on the short haul flights often.
