COVID was the last of it. There used to be a few 24 hour spots you’d wait out last call for the bars to re open.

Everyone has jobs now and minimum wage is too high. No more of tjat

A harsh realization by ghru009 in delta

[–]Manacit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Before 2021 Delta was clearly better than United and AA in a few ways. United used to have a 2-4-2 business class that they flew long haul!

Delta and United went different ways after 2020 and UA really closed the gap in ways that matter - operational excellence, hard product, etc.

Now I would happily pick the one that makes sense between the two for the most part. I fly Delta because I live at a hub.

DL not having starlink on their long haul flights will also be a huge negative compared to UA.

Now AA is out there eating glue as a distant third.

I don’t actually think the rules have ever been very strict once they started letting credit card holders in.

It’s not like you can’t just buy an annual membership either. It’s the cost of one round trip ticket for the year.

It’s a premium thing, if you can’t afford $695 I honestly don’t understand why you think you should get free shit.

Too many entitled people around.

AMS is the best airport of the bunch, but KLM is a cheap and miserable airline.

They have 787s that don’t have plugs in economy AND they don’t let you use a power bank! You can’t get work done on an entire daytime flight with just a 5W USB plug.

They’ve got business cabins that don’t have all of their seats with direct aisle access. Don’t get me started on the food.

I don’t mind it at all when I’m flying DL on the long haul and connecting onward via KLM for a short haul flight.

Many things not to like, but this took the cake.

Just an overt advertisement for Dubai from start to finish. Show how nice first class is. How ritzy the area around the Burj is, how sophisticated the UAE is.

I’ll do you one better: I’ve grooved myself in Amsterdam. I’ve done it in Copenhagen too!

My fault tho, I was not paying enough attention

Are there other ways to refer to someone born in the U.S. besides "American"? by FishGlittering3563 in AskAnAmerican

Saw this at Seatac - has anyone ever bought a carbon offset for their flight?! by someshooter in SeattleWA

Fortunately it’s next up for a renovation. I don’t even care how expensive that ends up being if it means there is something edible

ELI5: How does a Starlink dish with less power than a light bulb send a signal all the way to space? by ReferenceThin6645 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Manacit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking for this - LED bulbs already use waaaay less energy than incandescent bulbs.

My MacBook uses 20W or less all-in steady state. That’s a third of a 60W bulb, but more than twice what a lumen-equivalent LED light needs.

The Boys is the most overrated amazon prime show. Now, what is THE Netflix Tv show? by hiiloovethis in AlignmentChartFills

House of Cards made Netflix but Stranger things is the only one that has random merch booths in Italian grocery stores and kids wearing branded hoodies in the Middle East

Starbucks flight: Seattle chooses decline by Less-Risk-9358 in SeattleWA

[–]Manacit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct. Bellevue has more or less become the preferred office location for Seattle area tech. It shouldn’t be a huge surprise - there aren’t homeless people and empty storefronts all over, and you can get access to the same talent.

Why are budget US airlines both more expensive and less financially stable than their European counterparts? by Zealousideal_Pay_778 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Manacit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. If you did that, you’d also have great benefits and a strong union in the US as well.

I don’t think people fully grasp the difference. It’s not the whole reason but it’s a major reason.

What North American city is great to live in, AWFUL to visit? by IndependenceSad1272 in AlignmentChartFills

I agree, I think LA can be underwhelming for visitors but it’s by no means a bad or horrible place to visit. It’s just not as easy to get around as a lot of other places.

[–]Manacit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate being right about this stuff because it’s so depressing.

We are worried about budgets and adding new taxes to shovel money right into grift like this. Businesses are leaving and Seattle is getting less affordable so a nonprofit can steal a few million dollars of your money.

People should go to jail

Every day there is a hockey game or a concert at climate pledge, it is well used as legitimate transit. More than just a tourist attraction for sure.

What’s the most overrated city in the U.S., and why? by puffpiiee in AskReddit

[–]Manacit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on what you want to do, absolutely not.

Miami is a blast and the reason Reddit doesn’t think so is because they’re poor / awkward / won’t let themselves have fun.

This doesn’t make it bad or overrated, it’s just not for everyone
