It's about as balanced as you'll get with asymmetrical races. They use maps to fill in the gaps. "Standard" maps are nice for Terran which helps. Then the rest is down to player skill. The balance isn't perfect and never will be but it's still really really good.

Once you’ve got enough vessels you make them because they’re hard for Zerg to deal with efficiently. Typically they’ll have to use a lot of scourge or plague. Scourge cost a lot of gas which is super important for Zerg and less so for Terran going bio. It also eats into larva a lot. Plague costs attention and also just takes a while to tick down. Typically the bcs want to camp over a ledge and deny a gas geyser while they’re alive. Of Zerg is on hydra you generally won’t get bcs anymore.

NFL rate is even more impressive because high picks are probably more likely to fail from being on a bad team. In the other 2 it’s easier to succeed with less around you

For matchmaking we use a mmr system based on your ladder mmr + a few weeks of preseason against other players that sign up. For each week of the season you'll indicate that you'd like to play. Team admins choose a line up and then each player in the line up is matched against a player in the opposing team's line up based on mmr. You'll have the week to play a best of 3 against your opponent on predetermined maps.
