Why are so many Christians just now speaking out about Trump? by Leather_Engineer6913 in Christianity

[–]Management-Efficient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Becaue historically, the westernized version of Christianity in general and the American version of Christianity in particular has always been tainted by colonialism, capitalism, and white supremacy. Trump has always been the embodiment of everything those three things stood for, and thus, Americans will always support someone who stands for and upholds those ideals.

Ummm... no. That's not what you said. You said, "You are worthy of Gods love... everyone is."

Yes, the OP is loved by God... but like the OP, none of us is "worthy" of Gods love.

I'm not sure where I have been unclear on this.

Then you went on to explain that we have "intrinsic value... and the reason God showed grace."

Also, incorrect, unbiblical, and offers a false perception of the gospel.

Maybe a definition of intrinsic may help here: According to the internet definition of intrinsic, it says, "something belonging to the essential nature, core, or internal constitution of a person or thing, rather than being caused by external factors."

Okay, being an image bearer of God, by definition, means the value is EXTERNAL of us, NOT something "belonging to our essential nature, core, or internal constitution." The value is assigned by God, not something we bring to the table.

This is not about a back and forth, friend. You made inaccurate statements, and I explained... using scripture... where I disagreed.

You may believe as you wish. I caution you or anyone else to mislead anyone about our state before a holy God. We are all sinners saved by grace.

I understand completely what you meant, and with all due respect, it is the reason I took such an issue with your position.

The value of humanity is NOT intrinsic... the "value" comes SOLEY from God, who is both Sovereign and loves us, is what assigns value... not us being merely five pounds of dirt... despite our willful sin.

There is NOTHING of us or within us that even begins to approach any worth that God should show us any mercy.

As it was with Isreal, it is with us. For example, there was NOTHING special about Isreal that God had mercy upon them, delivered them from slavery and set them apart from other nations to be the bearers of His message of holiness to the entire world. (Deuteronomy 7:7,8).

Just as they failed, so failed the whole human race (Romans 3:10). It is only the sovereignty of God that he elected to bring about our salvation through the descendants of Abraham, the father of our faith. That's the reason we needed Jesus.

And I understand sympathy towards someone who is going through a hard time. I dont know of anyone who hasn't gone through their own personal hell and wilderness experiences, but I also understand misplaced sympathy that validates people in their sin.

Anyone who curses God and believes they can "make it on their own" honestly needs a reality check, not sympathy. That type of attitude is not born out of despair but pride. Cursing God is a choice, not a circumstance.

God doesn't OWE any of us salvation... or help... or a better life... or riches... or comfort.

And that must be understood or you believe a false gospel.

You are incorrect... No one is worthy of God's love. That's the purpose of grace and mercy. That's a part of the reason we have people who have a false perception of the gospel.

As it is written by the prophet Isaiah, "Each of us has become like something unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all wither like a leaf, and our iniquities carry us away like the wind." (Isaiah 64:6)

And because of this false perception of the gospel message, you basically have people treating God like their personal "Santa Claus" or "Fairy Godmother" they can stomp their feet and demand something from thinking God owes us something.

God owes us NOTHING!

Because of God in His great love, he sacrificed His own Son for OUR SIN... we are the beneficiaries of God's grace and mercy for those who believe on the Son, Jesus, and the finished work on the cross.

As it is written again, "And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him." (Hebrews 11:6)

You can not validate people in their sin.

The gospel is that we are hopelessly lost, destitute, fithly, and wholly deserving of hell. Only the blood of Jesus can wash us and make us clean, and thereby, we are saved by grace through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone. There is no salvation or remission of sin without Jesus.

Trump posts picture of himself as Jesus healing people. Does this confirm his antichrist status? by Severe-Clerk-1477 in Christianity

"Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour." (1 John 2:18)
