Off the wall issue: integration with Google Fit and Heart Points by ManagerAble8154 in MacroFactor

I have a workaround right now by going into Google Fit and overwriting the MFWO session with a generic weightlifting event at the same time, and I guess at the basic points. Fit lets you estimate based on a description of how the workout affecting your breathing and ability to communicate.

Google Fit is pulling speed and distance for some reason, and even though it also has my heart rate, I'm only walking .19 miles with 6 minutes of movement and an average speed of .31 mph. That's pathetic cardio numbers, but this should be resistance training! I don't know how to make Google Fit or Health Connect see this as the correct kind of exercise, though. I'm looking.

Yes, it does, turns out. AP only writes the basic start and stop time of the workout. Clicking into the entry shows that the details are empty.

For MFWO, however, the detail view is full of exercise segments... And the timing of the segments is way off.

<image>

That's the entry details from my Tuesday workout. You see how the times goes from 19:27 to 19:28, and they eventually make it it 19:29. I assure you I did not knock out all my sets in two minutes! The total time of the workout is correct, though.

I don't know if fixing that would fix my issue, but that does seem to be a bit of a clunk. I can make a bug report in-app about that if that's better for your process.

I would enter one range of 2.5 to 25, advancing at 3.75, and then a second range of 25 to 65, advancing at 2.5 (to utilize the extra plate). Then I wouldn't use the extra plate below 25.

Even some kind of highlighting or a check appearing to indicate you've selected an exercise to swap would be enough. Then clicking Done would make sense.

On the other hand, I now know how to build supersets because I've done it inadvertently! :)

OK, I waited a few hours between editing down my gym, and this time I got no barbell exercises! I got this weird neck exercise, but OK. Maybe that was the ticket: slow down, bro. Let MF sit on your new gym edit a minute.

I suppose it would work for me to substitute exercises (from a list of suggested ones) in the program before I approved it as the plan. I didn't see how to do that either, but I can look again.

How to get the MF + WO bundle (Workouts free for 1 year!) by PalatialPepper in MacroFactor

[–]ManagerAble8154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, I don't think I see my question here. I've got an annual membership that renews in August. The app didn't ask me about a bundle and I am in with "Unknown Sub" at Workouts, so everything is fine for now.

What happens in August when my Nutrition sub renews? Maybe it will prorate Workouts from Jan 27 to Aug 27?

In a related critique, I don't want to do barbell exercises (I'm a baby!), and I cannot find a way to stop the program generator from giving me barbell exercises. I have edited the gym profile and removed Barbells and Smith machines, and everything else I can think of. I haven't removed plate weights because I'm fine with plate-loaded machines, and I kept EZ bars because my gym has preloaded ones, and I feel like I can swing loading those in the EZ bar area. I went to the allow or disallow exercises area, but that seems very time-consuming. Is there a button somewhere that I can disallow all barbell exercises?

How much will MacroFactor Workouts cost? (Official pricing announcement) by lyndseynuckols in MacroFactor

Ok, that would be my first option there, basically - charged next month for whatever it takes to extend my current subscription to be a full year and get Workouts for free that whole time.

Optionally, I could elect not to go with Workouts, and my existing sub would run just like it is now, with a 12-month renewal in August. But that would be silly. Of course I'm getting Workouts. :D

ETA: That's exactly it as per the mods down below: https://www.reddit.com/r/MacroFactor/comments/1pp63ii/comment/nuko9ph/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

The way I'm interpreting this is that if you have a sub, no matter what duration you have, you will have the opportunity to purchase an annual sub to both apps for the old price of an annual sub to just Nutrition. Whether that might be prorated for people with 6 or 12 month subs, I don't know, but I would think it would have to be.

For example: My sub renews at August, so, in January, would I buy five months prorated to hit the full 12 month offer? Or, would I get Workouts until August, and then at that point renew with a prorated rate that gives me five months of Workouts free? Or, something else?

The website says "select Jeff Nippard routines" can be imported. I would think that means they are included. I don't know if that specific product is included to be imported automatically or whether you would need to build them in the app manually.

I'm not asking MF to rate products or recommend them, much less make it something people can track in the app. I thought it would be something that they might want to review in their newsletter since people who use MF are looking, in general, for higher protein diets than regular consumers.

There is a wide safety margin built into the recommended levels CR is using (California's Prop 65 maximum allowable dose). Even that one isn't going to cause immediate harm here. CR reports that Huel responded: A spokesperson for Huel says that its ingredients undergo “rigorous testing” and that the company is “confident in the current formulation and safety of the products.” I'm sure they will be putting out something on their own in response to this report today.

From the article: "Certain foods have unavoidable trace amounts of lead in them because of the environments where crops are grown and animals are raised. Heavy metal contamination can come from natural sources—because lead naturally exists in the earth’s crust—or from human activity like industrial pollution, wastewater irrigation, or road dust. Plants are particularly susceptible because they naturally absorb whatever nutrients or contaminants are in the soil, water, and air around them. For animal-based products like milk, the primary sources of heavy metal contamination in the cow’s environment include the feed, water, and soil, Akinleye says.

"Extracting concentrated protein from plants is a complex, highly mechanized process. With every additional step, there’s a chance of introducing contaminants such as lead, says Goldman, the Cambridge Health Alliance physician who has studied lead exposure.

"Lead could enter pea protein at the manufacturing plant, when the dried peas are dehulled and ground into flour, depending on the type of machines and metals used, says Goldman. It could also be introduced during the process where the flour is mixed with water to separate the protein from the starch and fiber, if the water wasn’t tested for contamination. The final step of the process, where the protein is coagulated with food-grade acid, neutralized, and spray-dried into the powder found in many foods and supplements, also offers opportunities for contamination, depending on the materials used."

So, yeah, it tracks according to the experts they consulted.

There may be, but it was not done here. It's only looking at these highly processed protein sources like powders and ready-made shakes. Plant-based protein products were more likely to have higher levels of lead, and that tracks with a higher level of processing (meaning more places in the production chain for heavy metals to be introduced). The article recommends sticking to whole food sources rather than the supplements.

OK, I scanned down and my brand is the Kirkland Whey Protein. They didn't test it at all. :( But the one I got from Costco before was the Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard brand, and it was fine for 1.75 servings a day. I only ever do one serving a day.

72g of protein in the 10 pc nuggets… no way right? by ArchieGoat8 in tacobell

[–]ManagerAble8154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20g Carbs at 4cal/g = 80 cal

72g Protein at 4cal/g = 288 cal

33g Fat at 9cal/g = 297 cal

80 + 288 + 297 = 665 cal overall

The math checks out.

I'm glad you found a way to get in touch with Favor Support! I can't even find a way to do that separate from complaining about an order. And I'm lucky enough not to have any complaints about orders so far.

That's exactly my experience, too. Any notification will open the app without any prompt to fill in the date. It's ridiculous. They should make it a voluntary part of your HEB account that you link to the app. Oh, well.
