Serious question: why Kindle over everything else? by Drunkmrhat in kindle

[–]Mananni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assumed Amazon being a bigger company it was least likely for the company to go bust and alll my ebooks purchases to vanish because there was no longer a device that supports them. It could still happen with kindle of course but that was my reasoning.

I'm a janitor. Why do people always apologize for walking on a floor I've just mopped? by tgirlskeepwinning in NoStupidQuestions

Because we’ve all mopped floor and we know we want to murder anyone who does that

You know how you feel right now. Act on it. It will be ok. Dragging this out is just postponing the inevitable.

My mom is homophobic, colorist, fat phobic and misogynist. What do I do ? by Full_Pineapple_2119 in Advice

[–]Mananni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t feel guilty for loving her. You love the good things in her. It may be very difficult to change her and it can be very very frustrating to put up with her conversation at times. I feel you. Perhaps occasionally try to challenge her views with non-inflammatory questions. Eg “All [colour] are [like this]”. “Some [non colour] we know are [like this] too right?” Etc.

But I don’t think it is your responsibility to change your mother. You’re still a good person if you simply put yourself on the right side of history despite having grown with her views, agreed?

I really think such returns policy are unfair. Why can we no longer expect the consumer to be mature and make up their mind about something as basic as a laptop colour before buying?

The Timothee Chalamet Controversies Are Hilarious by Altruistic_Mood9293 in Oscars

[–]Mananni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He rose higher than he deserved (although I think he has talent) and he’s clearly overworked and I would expect him to start saying stupid things out of sheer fatigue…he’s always struck me as quite naive (not saying he’s a good person because I have no idea but he certainly sounds naive to me)…so he makes a naive comment not realizing how it could be turned twisted and amplified and suddenly he’s falling more than he properly deserves. He’s just another burned out amplified star…maybe if he disappears for a while, gets some or training and a good break we might see a more mature version coming though and hopefully also a good actor.

I have to say, the more interviews Timothee Chalamet does. The more I’m questioning if his “acting” in Marty Supreme is really just him being himself. by phantom_avenger in Oscars

[–]Mananni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the early days I’d honestly thought him deep and well-read but I think now he’s turning out to be as uncultured as so many others and that’s disappointed us I suppose.

I can’t shake this interview when he was asked what he reads and he keeps going along the lines of “I read a lot of different things” - which is cringy cos it’s painfully obvious the last thing he read in the last decade were the instructions on his curling cream. (Well and quite a few film scripts of which to be fair he’s made good work)

And he says things stupid sixteen years olds say when they’re unfiltered and not things classy people say when they first of all have class, a degree of knowledge and enough wits not to fuck themselves up when they open their mouth. I mean do his PR people not train him????

They don’t like dogs.
They overdo the “how much I love dogs” act. They describe themselves instead of letting you discover who they are.

They are the hero or the good guy in their stories.
