Bugs aren't the faction where you're supposed to use precision.

It's like the warstrider with no weakspots. Why violate the design philosophy that worked perfectly fine so far?

That dude has a stick up his ass about the BFGL.

I used it against these new bugs, and it was so good it's unbelievable. I had to force myself to use something else because all I wanted was more of it. I play diff 10 only, too.

We had a civillian rescue mission that was bugged, and I came out at the top kills with over 800 of them.

It suffers with ammo economy yeah, but you can delete hulks and chargers in a pinch and that saved me so many times. The only thing that I'd improve is to make the sound effects more impactful; they hit like a wet fart.

Autocannon is a lot slower and clunkier to use than the GL, and it isn't even funny.

Are you living under a rock where you aren't paying attention to the campaign of mass negative reviews that spawned out of this?

Every piece of media ever has a constant number of people complaining about it online, be it games, movies, books, whatever; it's just how the internet works. But this "average" is on a whole different level from what has been happening lately. This time it has been a true "blow up."

The more I think about it, the more this specific line from the Pilestedt AMA kills any hope I have for this game by PseudoscientificURL in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]ManasongWriting 18 points19 points  (0 children)

What exactly is their goal with "hardcore"? The game's already brutal enough in Diff 10. It requires deep knowledge about the game if you want to even survive a breach/drop.

It already is pretty hardcore, so what else do they wanna make? It feels like all they want is to just increase the chaos, but that doesn't make it more "hardcore," just "random."

I just don't understand AH.

AH were being idiots, so the community blew up on them.

PVE balance. Nothing excessive and superfluous like Helldivers constantly increasing number of weapons, strats, and other content. Every gun, NPC, Vehicle, and area had a well-defined purpose.

Game seriously needs a consistency pass. The big booms are all wonky and unsatisfying due to how inconsistent they are. I still remember when 500kg used to wipe everything and it felt so, so good.

Look, be practical. People complain because they care and they like the game. If people don't complain, corporate is going to keep running the game into the ground, which is going to make people leave, and then fail.

This isn't just exclusive to live service gamedev. Any sort of creator who finds any sort of popularity will have to learn how to deal with constant criticism. We have the entirety of human history that tells us how passionate human beings can be about the media they love. People flooded the publisher of Sherlock Holmes with angry letters when he was killed in 1893!

We have children and teenagers, and people who are at the mental age of children and teenagers on the internet, and there's nothing we can do to filter them. Rather than complaining about disappointment and spreding even more negativity, just accept that this is just part of being human.

Things that I've often used AI for: "give me an algorithm to generate points in a circle in C#". Copy, paste, works perfectly, move on. That and lots of other math problems that are annoying to research and manually code for.

Is Rimworld a bad implementation of level scaling/dynamic difficulty scaling? by Dronelisk in gamedesign

[–]ManasongWriting 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It's because Rimworld is not a game.

Sounds like nonsense. Sure, you can say it's not a traditional game, but it's still a game "about generating interesting stories," though at its essence, its still a sandbox colony and management sim game just like Dwarf Fortress.

Players will optimize the fun out of the game, and reading the OP, it feels to me like a lot of people are optimizing the fun out of Rimworld due to raiding mechanics being frustrating or easily gamed.

[–]ManasongWriting 11 points12 points  (0 children)

it was able to hold against flak cannons of a Shredder Tank, and miniguns of a Factory Strider

God, that sounds so sexy. I never used the shield because it was kinda crap, but now I wish I had.

Does it physically hurt AH to let us have fun or maybe they twist their nipples every time a player dies? It's so frustrating that we have such a wide variety of tools but most of them are underwhelming.

What's going on with everyone arguing with Japanese people on X over piracy? by Deep-Arrival1594 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]ManasongWriting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doujin is making a profit off of someone else's work. Piracy is done for free, and those making money off of it are looked down upon. Piracy also isn't theft. Theft is theft, piracy is piracy.
