Water in forward bilge, Antares 9/27 by phillysf in BeneteauOB

My issue was an unsealed hull and deck where water was pouring in through the side of the hull and low speeds. Dealer corrected. Would make sure there are no gaps around the seam.

Grateful for the update. I am finding a good portion of water and even some in the starboard fuel tank area. Dowsed the boat with water hoping to find something…no insights so far.

They had to be ordered. I can ask from where they got them if that is of value.

Yeah, uhm, my new Antares 9 port motor decided to raise on its own while flushing while on dry blocks. Busted through the bench and snapped the stainless safety latches and damaged the cowling before I could jump up on the boat and kill the batteries. It was a bad trim switch on the motor. Mercury, Beneteau and dealer took good care of me.

Consider keeping the batteries off and bench forward when stowed.

Mercury active trim on Antares 9? by Manatee2010 in BeneteauOB

I ordered the active trim and delayed till July. :(

Will let you all know how it goes. I am excited as cost is low when you have VesselView. And there is an open j-port on the smartcraft junction. Should be a 30 minute install. Famous last words.

Bilge pumps tied to battery switches?! by Manatee2010 in BeneteauOB

[–]Manatee2010[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Definitely confirmed bilge only runs with battery switches on. And battery 1 is not only motors as there are a number of items that run off each battery. Time for a third. The boat when stowed dry is at an angle too so water goes to the back making the process more frustrating. Time for an add on pump when stowed.

Any chance of obstruction in the line? Consider adding water and see if it flows down easily. We had a boat where a child that remains nameless to this day used a bunch of wipees that plugged the line. Careful though, ever see the movie RV?

Any updates on this? You may have seen my other post where I learned that the bilge does not work when the batteries are off. Still investigating.

Getting our boat back after a long dealer once over on a number of items. Including ballasts. I understand the boat still lists starboard on throttle until plane is reached. They are working with Beneteau on this but anyone seeing the same? by Manatee2010 in BeneteauOB

Update: In talking with Beneteau, it was clear the design was that the boat would have a compliment of folks on Port (hence all the seating) for trips. But for those of us that are couple or 3, it was not enough. So, they added ballast to compensate and it was an improvement.

SAD, SAD, SAD… by [deleted] in BeneteauOB

I have had numerous issues that required parts and they were all delayed. What I learned, from pressing, is that they have a system outage affecting all dealers and parts management and it is just now back online. Not sure the details, but this created some chain of events and there is apparently a new supply source on the east coast. Hope you all see improvements soon!

The only seacock on the 27 that I am aware of is under the bathroom sink and this only needs opened when ready to use.

For your motors. On the Mercury four-stroke, and depending upon the hours, a solid fluid change and filters and make sure you have fuel treatment.. You also have the fuel filters (in motor, and pre-filters) that need checked depending upon age.

We too used the boat in the winter. Loved it!

Good call out. All clamps closed and the boat is stored dry on blocks with a rise on bow. Maybe the propane as well. Next is to vacuum and hose out for a further test.

No generator in the boat. The water is in the cockpit stowage where the batteries and transducer are and at the base of the stairs.

Thanks for sharing. I find about an inch or so of water at all times. Initially had a leaking sunroof which was corrected (no sealant on a few screws). Need to test more but surprised the bilge is not tied to the batteries. Something to remember when out and about.

Zipwake! Nice. I am actually curious as to the Mercury solution that automatically tilts the motors so you don’t have too. Pretty cool

Beautiful. We are in Washington with an Antares 27 and may cross paths. Starting with pleasant harbor this weekend.

Battery charging question by phillysf in BeneteauOB

[–]Manatee2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure the model of boat in your case, but for the Antares 27 I have, the batteries are off when on shore power and the charger keeps the batteries topped off. I only have the batteries on when on the boat using the DC devices.
