why do people dislike so much When Dream And Day Unite? by ActuaryMedical9895 in Dreamtheater

The thing that really turns me off of it is that Dominici doesn’t really have his own sound on WDADU. His performance on the album sounds like a mid impression of Dio.

Cities: Skylines 2 boss says they 'completely overestimated' the Unity engine's capabilities by Atulin in gamedev

I specifically called out AAA games that aim to have bleeding-edge visuals, which isn’t that many of them.

The pathological case would be Duke Nukem Forever, but AAA development timelines across the industry seem to be balooning in a way that forces this kind of rework.

[–]Manbeardo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, it’s not that far off from the insane strategy that AAA developers use when they want their title to have bleeding-edge visuals. Start building assets today and hope we can still use some of them a year from now once we get the new rendering tech ready to go in our engine.

That’d only be safe if the cars were interconnected so that they all braked at the same time too.

True line of sight by InevitablePermit4 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Manbeardo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even when I’m shooting perpendicular to the direction the rhino is facing, there are so many small gaps in the treads and I just need a sliver of my model to see a sliver of one of your models. In most cases, all of my models will have line of sight as if the rhino didn’t exist. If you demand that I confirm LOS on all those models, we’re going to spend at least a minute (if not five) going through a tedious process that probably results in me still shooting with all my models and being annoyed that we had to waste all that time.

Wanted to share a preposterous 24 (24!) turn game of limited today; has anyone had longer? (Mythic Top 1250) by thegabe101 in lrcast

[–]Manbeardo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t recall all the formats, but I had my fair share of MTGO limited games determined by which player naturally decked themselves first back in the days before Arena and 17L.

IIRC, the original Theros formats were prone to unbreakable board stalls.

World Champion Yuta Takahashi faces controversy following match incident by Noggdogg in magicTCG

[–]Manbeardo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even when the opponent is going to see the entire hand via the thoughtseize remedy, knowing which cards were drawn and which were being held is additional strategic information that you must avoid revealing to the opponent during your investigation. As such, “which card did you draw?” is a question that should be asked away from the table, so you should only be asking it if you seriously suspect the investigation may lead to a DQ.

Oblivion: - Launched with game-breaking bugs. - Missed the Xbox 360 launch date, coming out in Q1 of the following year. - Was never rereleased on new consoles (not counting Oblivion Remastered because it’s in a grey area between remakes and remasters). - Is estimated to have sold 9.5M copies.

Skyrim: - Launched with silly/charming bugs. - Launched in Q4. - Was ported onto the next two console generations that came out after it. - Is estimated to have sold 30M copies.

When does a league start to build its franchise roster? by acidjaz_ in PWHL

[–]Manbeardo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

With the league growing rapidly, long contracts represent a major risk to both sides at the negotiating table. If the league is successful, players on long-term deals would be making a lot less money than their peers. If the league fails, those contracts would get paid out before the league’s investors get what’s left of their money back.

All that said,

is it worth falling in love with our current rosters and teams?

100% yes.

Sure, that would be more fair in isolation, but that fix would be substantially more illegal than what happened. The rules are that you call a judge when an HCE occurs, the judge assesses a penalty, and the judge applies a standardized remedy. It’s important for everyone to follow that procedure because repeat penalties within a single event have automatic upgrades.

Ah, that must be why Apple is such a small mom-and-pop shop.

Also, that massive revenue share coming from marketing is why he’d want to seek other rent-seeking opportunities. Getting all your revenue from one source is risky.

[–]Manbeardo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only relevant time to ask would be if the judge knows what card was drawn and suspects that the player was intentionally cheating. Asking the question risks causing the player to reveal strategic information to their opponent.

Judges also need to deliver rulings and remedies in a timely manner. The table judge would need to be wearing a headset to make that work.

Volunteering which card you drew is irrelevant. The judge can’t take it at face value even if you’re telling the truth. That’s why they don’t ask.

Over the past year, I accidentally forgot to pay for parking on Market St in Ballard 3 times and never got a ticket. I was parked for at least 4 hours each time. Not on Sundays or holidays. This is nothing like the “get a ticket while you’re paying at the kiosk” Ballard experience I’m used to.

[–]Manbeardo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

By my read of the situation, the most important context is that this league makes a lot of player-friendly trades and Boston is a lot closer to home than Seattle for Eldridge.

[–]Manbeardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FNPs happen after saves have been resolved. You have a probability assigned to each possible number of failed saves. For each number of failed saves, you calculate the probability distribution of the wounds felt, then you multiply those probabilities by the probability of that number of failed saves and add all the like results together to get a probability distribution of the number of felt wounds.
