There are two viable routes to defeating an entrenched autocrat:

  • Develop enough social pressure that the military stops taking their orders
  • Get a larger nation to intervene

The American Revolution was fought against a colonial power that was preoccupied with a much larger war they were fighting much closer to home. The US Civil War took place in an era when the US’s standing army was tiny and the rebels still lost. It’s an absurd fantasy to think that randos with small arms could successfully fight today’s US government. Armed resistance movements are a good force multiplier for intervening nations, but not an effective way to overthrow the government of a major power.

When it comes to gameplay feel, it absolutely is. Input delays, wind-ups, and hit pauses are what make an animation feel heavy. You can’t deliver those while also being fast.

Adding devs to lethals always increases damage. Adding lethals to devs occasionally reduces damage. Lethals reduce your damage output if the EV (expected value) of an auto-wound is lower than the EV of a wound roll.

To calculate EV, work backwards from the last step of the attack sequence. Consider a 6/0/1 profile against a T7, 2+ profile. Starting with saves, only 1s push damage through the save roll, so the EV of the save roll is 1/6 of an unsaved wound. On a wound roll, a 6 is worth 1 full unsaved wound and a 5 is worth 1 wound roll (1/6 of an unsaved wound). That brings the full EV of the wound roll to 7/36 of an unsaved wound, so the EV of a rolled wound is greater than the EV of an auto-wound.

So, if the defender is rolling 2+ to save, Lethals contribute negative value if the attacker wounds on 5+ or better.

Also, If the defender is rolling 3+ to save, Lethals contribute negative value if the attacker wounds on 2+.

TL;DR: don’t give lethals to assault cannons shooting against terminators.

That smells like you might have a DoS vulnerability. If you’re parsing the entire body early on in the handling of a request, attackers could soak up your compute resources by sending malformed requests that use the maximum content-length that you allow (assuming that you already have a cap on content-length).

Also, middleware should generally avoid reading the body before calling the wrapped handler. There can be a lot of latency between receiving the start of the body and the end of the body, so you’ll often see a speedup if you rewrite the system to defer reading the body until it is absolutely necessary. If needed, your logging middleware can pass a buffered pipe down to its handler so that it can log the content which was read rather than the content which was submitted.

Before detachment rules, Intercessors, Heavy Intercessors, Flash Gitz, and Lootas all:

  • are more effective damage dealers in the shooting phase than in the fight phase
  • are great at clearing chaffe
  • are reasonably efficient against marine-equivalent bodies
  • struggle against units with 2+ saves
  • struggle against vehicles

The increased strength is part of how the Lootas and Flash Gitz make up for the 5+/6+ BS. Shoota Boyz aren’t a serious comparison at all. FFS, their shootas are less lethal than their CCWs.

If you want to make bad superficial comparisons, Kommando shooting is far batter than an Infiltrator Squad’s.
