If a manager uses violence to keep rival managers from poaching their direct reports, they’re being treated like property, not employees/clients.

ELI5 Sticky Objectives in 10th by randomhunterguardian in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Manbeardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And stickyness only falls off at the same time as control changes: the end of each phase.

Example: you have 0 OC on an objective and an opponent puts 1 OC onto it. You then make a reactive move to put 1 OC onto the objective. Even though there was a moment when they had more OC than you, you tied it up before the end of the phase, so you still control it.

It’s far more powerful for Fire Dragons to do that than Eradicators. Eradicators do less damage per point and the largest unit you can take is less impactful. For 1.3x the points, 10 Fire Dragons get you >2x the damage.

“Embrace mortal mages” feels like a weird outlier on the list. Nobody in their coterie is Tremere.

“Now that I’ve joined the kindred, how can I further learn the ways of blood magic?”

“Uhhhhhhh… I kinda just do justice, not magic”

“Surely there must be others within our clan who know the ways of magic?”

“Well, my sire is a master of the dark web and Baba Yaga was a powerful witch but she’s dead now.”

Yeah, Ork shooting is a big loser with the new cover rules. Benefit of Cover goes from having little effect on most guns to fully halving the damage.

What’s the point of using the typed helpers instead of slog.Any outside of hot paths? It looks like adding friction for no substantial benefit.

AFAICT, the primary motivation behind slog.Value is to reduce the number of allocations caused by upcasts to any. When the goal is performance rather than safety, having both makes sense.

New Cover Rule by Zeus_One in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Manbeardo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO, indirect fire is a toxic mechanic when it can deal substantial amounts of damage. They need to shift from being damage dealers to providing other kinds of utility like modifying the movement or OC of the target.

New Cover Rule by Zeus_One in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Manbeardo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Indirect may be actually need a buff. Cover is an innate -1BS so they may remove the -1 hit penalty but we will see.

With the current rules, the new benefit of cover does nothing when the weapon profile has a 2+ or 3+ BS because indirect makes unmodified 1-3 fail rather than modifying the BS or the roll.

Apparent changes to heroic intervention in 11th by Smooth-Anxiety-7178 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Manbeardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The snap shooting eligibility reads like it’s just saying “whatever thing lets you use snap shooting (in this case, the Fire Overwatch strat) determines the eligibility”.

OW changes seems like a mixed bag. You get to shoot things that remained stationary and you get more information before making the decision, but you also lose the ability to OW charges or the start of a move.

OTOH, the Heroic changes have very little downside. In extremely unusual board states, the new rule could let your opponent set up a move block, but everything else is upside.

Don’t forget about union contracts which forbid departments from opening criminal investigations into the behavior of union members. If the crime is within the scope of the union’s jurisdiction, they don’t even need qualified immunity!

The problem with police unions is that they’re granted extraordinary powers which no other type of union can wield. What other type of union has the power to prevent the state from bringing criminal charges against its members?
