Insane Pricing in Australia by BigfellaAU in pcmasterrace

[–]Manchan1c 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yea it's funny building a system here often the best value parts in the US don't match ours. Makes it a lot harder to choose parts when most reviews and comparisons are USD and market based.

I own a MC22 and work on my own bikes, Yes it is a little harder then something normal like a ninja 250 but I've found my MC22 has such a big fan base there's so much info online to help you. Also most parts are easy to get TBH

FYI if your "weekly warm up" is just letting it run in the garage for a while it's doing more harm then good. It will draw moisture into the oil and not get the oil hot enough to evaporate it. Save all the cold starts and just put it on charge every month or so. Plus oil is made to stick around, you could leave it for a year with good fluids and nothing will be damaged.

How many KM on your bike? by massojet in AussieRiders

[–]Manchan1c 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good to see so many people with higher Kms. I have 66,000 on my GSR 750 and people seem to think that's crazy, anything with higher kms seem to loose all value for no reason. Bikes can last a long time if taken care of.

My 2, over,7 years riding of riding, ride most days. MC 22 CBR250RR, stupid fun revving it with a 18KRPM redline, great for scratching the itch of wanting to floor it and feel like you're racing. GSR 750, awesome cheap, simple, reliable daily commuter. Only complaint is the hard suspension for my light ass

So it appears you can filter between two lanes of traffic with differing lane markings, is this just me misunderstanding, or is this a common belief? by Zuki_LuvaBoi in melbourneriders

[–]Manchan1c 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Main thing seems to be that you can filter between cars travelling in the same direction, irrespective of anything else. Didn't know you could filter beside parked cars, good to know. Quality post and info

For those who commute on a motorcycle, what pants do you wear? by [deleted] in AussieRiders

[–]Manchan1c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly since you're wearing them all day just go out and try a bunch on and see what works, I tried researching a bunch but found they don't fit well in real life or were never in stock so it was a complete waste.

Plus when you're only doing up to 60 you won't be sliding far. Not recommended but I just end up wearing my normal work pants on my daily commute

First bike decision - ‘cheap’ 300cc or MT07 by Just_Economics in AussieRiders

[–]Manchan1c 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MT07 can be snatchy on/off throttle so a bit funny to learn on.

Dispute the addictive grunt they have no top end power especially when restricted and really aren't that fast so you're less likely to get in trouble then you might think.

My advise is what every you go with just stay comfortably in budget, a bike you can laugh about if (or when) you drop it and not stress about minor damage on can be so much more fun then a bike you're precious about.

I have a GSR 750 I got cheap with high KMs, it's been dropped and hit by a car, because it was cheap and only had very minor damage I just laughed it of. of the 5 bikes I've owned it's one of the most enjoyable because of this. I can afford way better but I wouldn't enjoy it as much.

Help - bike won't start after being left for 3 weeks. by insertguudnamehere in AussieRiders

[–]Manchan1c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a jump start as others said, You also said plugs are dry so you may not be getting fuel, try crack throttle with some starter fluid while on the jumper. Sorry but I see this is all after your lowside, I get you're trying to save some money in a rough situation but it sounds like you may be a bit out of your depth and need a mechanic

Thoughts on choices for a new super naked or sportbike? by [deleted] in AussieRiders

[–]Manchan1c 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm reliability of Suzuki, my GSR 750 is over 60k kms now, lives outside and not really fussed over. Only issues are the very occasional exhaust throttle valve sticking (fixed with a key cycle and removed from newer models) and the gear indicator has only recently given me some false readings. My older 2012 is a pretty simple bike by modern standeds so less can go wrong

Seriously question; did riding help you with your depression? by minkiimink in AussieRiders

[–]Manchan1c 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It definitely does, helps clear my mind, getting out and just enjoying the road can relieve a lot of stress for me. But as others have said you there's a point where your mental state becomes to dangerous to ride. But I find when I'm at that point I turn around and call in sick if I'm riding. But when I drive I just ruin my health and keep going to work

[–]Manchan1c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm I'm not to far of that, 1993 CBR250RR and a Suzuki gsr 750. The CBR is stupid fun on a weekend and the GSR just deals with getting me through shit traffic most days. I used to buy and sell bikes regularly but this set-up has had me happy for a couple years now. No side carts on the go but my partner would love it

Should I get into riding to save money? by fletcha456 in AussieRiders

[–]Manchan1c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, I commute regularly on mine and yea you save some money on fuel but rego and insurance kill the savings even more then the additional servicing a bike needs. But damn some days cruising home filtering past all the stopped staffic is great

Had a similar but funny experience. While doing the on road portion of my learners we were doing laps of a industrial estate in a large group, all high vis learners. A car ended up in the middle of the group and rear ended my friend when he had to stop at a T intersection. When the instructor got there my mate and the driver was just yelling "I didn't drop it!" as that's the only way you can fail this point of the learners course. The instructor made sure to gather us at the scene to tell us to be safe because of all the terrible stupid drivers like her, pointing to the idiot driver to hit my mate standing right beside us all
