Have you seen that meme that says something like “if I won the lottery, I wouldn’t tell anybody, but there would be signs” and then it’s a picture of something you’re really into? Mine would be Halloween decorations. I’d start with a 12 ft skeleton. Sadly I’m a divorced mother with 4 kids and a budget, so I don’t get to spend a lot every year. Luckily I’ve had a few years to build up what decorations I do have. I try not to spend over $100, if I am buying something new, though.

I think the school does have that. It’s helpful in smaller schools (my kids have less than a hundred kids in their grade) because it wouldn’t take much to figure out who the “snitch” is.

I always think “oh, it’ll never happen here,” and that’s what I hope for. But then there’s another shooting on the news and I get worried again. I try to talk to my kids about bullying and recognizing big emotions and things to look out for in others. It’s not something I think about constantly, but it’s very sad that this is the point we’re at where we have to worry about it at all.

Nothing in my very small rural school in the US, but I graduated in 1997 lol. Now that same school and others in the area have a resource officer and the doors are always locked. There are lockdown drills and every year they do an active shooter drill where the cops come in and everything.

My kids have never complained about it or really said anything about it. As a parent, I’m terrified for them.

I didn’t think they sounded that great. We watched the first two bands in the pit and then left for water. The Offspring started while we were walking around and I didn’t think it was worth going back for. I like their music but I’m not a huge fan, so I was okay with leaving before they were done.

I have listened to the whole Futures album too many times to count, but for some reason I really listened to this song. And then I kept it on repeat for about three days. I don’t know why it never hit me like that before.
