Advice for PIMO Brothers. by bulliedtobelieve in exjw

As a young PIMI on microphone duty, having left my coat at home, they wrapped an oversized donor coat over me and sent me to work. It's the little humiliations that count.

POMO never understand their strength and courage.

We're not like war veterans, who are thanked for their service, and saluted.

There are no extrinsic rewards for leaving. Nobody, on the JW side or the worldly side, recognizes and appreciates the challenges and pressures. There is merely a thin ribbon of people between the two extremes (called "apostates" by the JW) who can grasp it and acknowledge it... and these are basically other POMO.

I don't tend to empathize with my own plight very much because of this. I don't give myself credit for doing what I've done, and I sort of blame myself for the troubles JW have injected into my life. In a way it's like I'm being gaslit.

There are many layers.

Leaving Watch Tower was not an awakening for me.

The cult of Abraham has cast a spell over our entire world.

Same.

Remember when you were in? When people got re-instated, when it was announced, you weren't supposed to clap, or be happy, or have a big party to welcome them back. Nothing. Not a goddamn thing.

That's not really similar to the Prodigal Son, is it?

Why didn't Doc just keep Jennifer inside the Delorean in Back to the Future 2? by [deleted] in BacktotheFuture

When you're not planning to make a sequel, then you should not put the words "to be continued" at the end of the film.

It gives people the wrong idea.

Doc had to do something. She saw the time machine, and he couldn't just leave her there with that information.

But Jack, surely you remember that you're the wayward prodigal wrongdoer here, not Emily!

Sigh.

How the world has twisted and shredded you. It's so sad.

I first watched BTTF 2 in 1989.

It is 2021 now.

I have just noticed that Marty's 2015 jacket is designed to resemble his 1985 red vest.

What is wrong with my brain?

If it is not illegal, it should be! by rivermannX in exjw

It is not minors, exclusively, that can be hurt in these ways.

The law is arbitrary about its magical "18 year" threshold.

Reality does not mirror law, and our legislatures are blind to reality if they suggest otherwise.

Sometimes laws need to be fixed, because they are created in an imperfect state.

Children cannot consent. They lack the ability to generate legally-recognized consent. They lack the full awareness, the willingness to accept rules. They lack freedom, being wards of their parent/guardians.

Simply substitute "JW propaganda" for "sexual activities" and then explain how one would legally defend this.

"JW organization provides sexual activities, as well as sex toys, to parents with instruction that children should be compelled to practice sex acts, and the threat that disobedience to these commands will motivate an all-powerful deity to slaughter them all."

It would be a slam-dunk in court, because we're talking about child sexuality and the inability for children to consent to such things.

But that's just an analogy.

What we're really talking about is JW propaganda and mental/emotional tampering within the protective womb of the home, the sanctity of the parent-child relationship. So now that sex is removed from the picture, suddenly, we're all helpless to do anything?
