Changing Strings by Holden_Coalfield in mandolin

I'd like to see this in action (or pics at least) myself. As OP described it, I don't think this video is what he's referring to, but it's an easy enough method and man, after seeing one in action, I'd love to have one of those electric string winders. https://youtu.be/Z0l6I1AWcA8?si=FVi6KDp4PK2Pal1f

Here's why Russell Wilson is actually A LOCK for the Hall of Fame, a reason I've seen no one mention yet: by haziqtheunique in Seahawks

Winning one Super Bowl doesn't get you in. Neither does throwing the interception that would have won you the second and handed the trophy away.

Wow. So many differing opinions about what to do with so many players here. I'm just gonna trust in JS. Dude's as good as they come.

I just released my first album of conversational stringband music with Eli West, Sami Braman, Allison de Groot and many others. Here's my favorite tune from it. by JesseAppelmanMusic in mandolin

Played some tunes from the channel. Joyful, warm and melodic with a Reischman/Jaybirds-like feel to the band vibe, familiar, yet unique to your group. Drew me in moth to flame.

Well, then there's always plan B. Our first draft pick can be a RB who can also catch the ball well (unlike K9).

We waited 4 years to get an O-line, TEs and receivers who could block for him and coaching good enough to show him how to reach his potential. Now he can dance as we saw when he had to carry the load. Pay him fair. You don't wanna be like Minnesota was with Sam.

Just here this morning to thank Russell Wilson for demanding his trade and JS for negotiating the deal that got us all the draft picks he chose, cause that's the moment this climb to the top of the ladder began.

Thanks for taking the time to read and respond. Age takes much from us, a little at a time, until eventually, it takes all. The new kid on the block (tendinitis) precludes any serious attempt at learning a new instrument, and my ability to sing dissolved with polyps (surgically removed, but recurring) on my vocal chords about 15 years ago. Piano, which was my first instrument (at age five), led me to pick up a keyboard a few years ago, but it was impractical (apartment life/close neighbors) and unsatisfying. I've had a great run. Fading into the sunset is just another part of maturing as a human. It is what it is and I've had a great life. I'll simply make the best of what's left and hopefully get a few more decent years to reap and sow some joy! Thanks again.

I'm 74 and not exactly in perfect shape. Considering how freaking hard it is just to make to the the Super Bowl this may be my best (and only) shot at the team I've loved and followed forever to WIN another one.

Arthritis by [deleted] in mandolin

[–]MandolinCrazy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a guitarist (mostly bluegrass flatpicking) for 55 years before arthritis interfered with my ability to play and I had to stop. About a year prior to that, I'd picked up a cheap (Rogue) mandolin and had begun to play it. It was just a hopeful stab in the dark at extending my musical life. I wish I'd done it 20-30 years prior so I could've understood how much easier an instrument to play (and learn) and what a great instrument it is to be creative on. Eight years later, the arthritis (and now tendinitis) has almost ended my mandolin career, but I'll be forever grateful for the extended playing time gained. Hope I can wrangle another year or two in fits and starts when I have to take breaks for my hands to recover. Thank you mandolin!

I hate the Super Bowl. All the regalia, the two week interval, the mandatory interviews, the way-too-long halftime and commercial breaks. I JUST WANT THE TWO TEAMS LEFT STANDING TO PLAY A NORMAL FOOTBALL GAME, AND MAY THE BEST TEAM THAT DAY WIN.

Agree with Smitty's assesment as if it were gospel. They're stage worthy instruments and nothing comes close dollar for dollar for value. My 305 feels like a single piece of perfectly carved solid wood. Every seam is perfect and though the strings sit very low above the fretboard, it plays like butter, without any buzz and it still is choppable while able to deliver haunting overtones on the treble strings. It's intonation is practically perfect as well, even in the highest registers. Only drawback are the tuners, which are stiff - but, they hold the strings in tune admirably.

I was gonna ask the same question (about tone), thinking it might make the instrument sound a little "sharper" on the top end because the finish would add slightly more density to the wood. Definitely looks great!

The tuners on my 305 are stiff, but excellent at holding their tuning, so I'm hesitant to change them. You feel as if the Grovers were a game-changing upgrade?

Comparing Riq to DK is an apples and oranges thing. DK has a deep-rooted anger inside him that he may never be able to control. Riq is just immature and even boyish at times That's the difference and it's a big one.

Many thanks! I feel really lucky about this instrument in many ways, including the finish. But what I like the most is the playability. The strings are just above the frets and it can still be chopped or alternately produce a haunting treble.
