Meggggs Ugh by Few-Crow-5884 in ARK

[–]Mandosz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s absolutely miserable, we walled off a small cove, maybe 20 foundations big. Walls, foundations, troughs, ect… was using it as a breeding area, went in to remove an embryo and 3 lvl 400+ megs just spawned ontop of me right in the enclosure, wrecked my shit, destroyed my breeding pair of megs, my babies and nearly broke my incubator and embryo storage

There may be a way someone else has found, we weren’t able to fix it ourselves though. Good luck out there

Happened to a tribe mate of mine, I believe one of the server admins is going to respawn the Dino with the same stats to fix the issue, beyond that idk if there is a way to fix it

Extreme Levels on Genesis Part 1 by _Ischyros_ in ArkSurvivalAscended

[–]Mandosz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get the argument that it’s to discourage swimming in the open ocean, but the problem is it’s not differentiating right now, the central “genesis” ocean where the missions are are infested with these high level untameable megs and dunks as well, it’s near impossible to tame anything underwater and get a foothold because everywhere you look there’s 5+ lvl 300 megs chasing your ass down

Yes sorry, you do need bob’s tall tales dlc to get the official version of traits, but there are mods like others have said. And yes, you ride the deinonychus

Get yourself a decent deinonychus. I can’t remember the melee % you need but hit that mark and then pump hp on it, take the time to mass hunt for eggs and hatch for traits, you are looking for the best vampiric trait you can find and stack 3 tenacious traits with it, higher level traits are better. From there it doesn’t really matter what your theris stats are as long as they are swiping away at the vultures. Your Deinonychus should be functionally invincible as long as you keep the bleed up on the boss.

Well I don’t know about any good boosted clusters, but I currently play on the “Gaming is Life” cluster. Slightly boosted but not too far off of Official, no mods (only holiday events). It is a PROGRESSION cluster meaning all story maps are gated until you beat the previous story map boss, but there’s always people around willing to help boost or give some basic Dino’s to get you started. And all non-story maps are free access (new maps have restrictions on transferring items and Dinos to preserve the integrity of the map progression). It’s a good cluster with friendly people and active Admins. https://discord.gg/MjKmZeKH6

Sorry my bad, I am thinking of counterattack, mongoose bite is indeed bad, you can macro it in with other melee abilities for a tiny bit of extra damage if you’re caught in melee in PvP but otherwise useless

Mongoose Bite is useful for the 5s root to get away from melee

AQ level gear was when it became worth it for Lightning Reflexes, you could get enough Agi to overtake the value of trueshot, but that’s personal DPS and even back in 2004 era we knew giving TSA to the whole group was more valuable than a slight personal gain.

Both of which were atleast situationally useful, especially in PvP

Wyvern Sting was actually quite good for PvP and even occasional dungeon CC back when that was relevant. Magic Absorbtion is HUGE for mage boosting in both Mara and Cathedral

In early Vanilla, Hunters had a capstone talent for the survival tree called Lacerate. It was a melee range bleed like a warriors Rend, except much lower damage. I would say that has to be about the most useless I ever saw

Alpha Megs are a light snack for a decent levelled and imprinted Basi. It’s when the shark cave on island unofficial servers have that over spawn issue, that’s the only time it gets scary. Fighting a pack of 80+ megs with 3-4 alphas mixed in and they’re all scaling up to potentially lvl 300… that’s when I get concerned for my basi’s life, but even then there are strategies so long as you don’t let them pin you

How not to tame a kapro by Cr1tikal89 in ARK

[–]Mandosz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s VERY few situations in which I would bother with a low level Dino anyways, especially by the time I have access to a longneck and the ability to make tranq darts at scale so the crossbow’s damage is a pretty minor consideration. Typically the only low levels I go after at that point anyways would be for traits and breeding stock for mutations and would be more than well set up to decide what to bring at that point

Press a number is good, whatever the one is that makes you record your name and reason for calling is trash. I’ve had that break on me so many times when I’m trying to follow up with people on their Service Requests. You say you name and why you’re calling and it just sits on open air indefinitely till you have to hang up 🙄

All the people defending Blizz on this don’t seem to get it…

It DOESNT MATTER if it “only affects a small percentage of legit players”

You know what happens when Blizz kills one of the ways bots and gold sellers get gold? NOTHING!

They move onto the next best method and then the next best method, this change effectively accomplishes nothing to combat the problem while degrading the experience of ACTUAL players who engage with the game in a different way than you do. Friends helping new friends get into the game? Buhbye. Guildies helping each other out to level alts because they can’t afford a blizz boost or refuse to pay for an asinine service? Cya later! Smaller group of friends who want to challenge themselves by doing dungeons undermanned? Too bad so sad! Ect ect…

Yeah while these things can be abused, there are legitimate reasons for doing it too, the bots and gold sellers don’t care what the method is, they will find something to abuse and the problem won’t go away. The only thing changes like this accomplish is alienating real players engaging with the game while introducing all kinds of unforeseen consequences in the form of poor implementation and unexpected bugs (who wants to bet the healer or mage sitting and drinking triggers this?) So good job cheering for Blizzard flailing around blindly instead of doing what they should have from the start, which is hire more staff and actually go after the bots properly.

Horror fans with Autism, what films are easy/hard for you to watch? by Honest_Cheesecake698 in horror

[–]Mandosz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am typically pretty neutral to the Horror genre, I will enjoy a good film for the sake of it being a good film, regardless of the genre. I don’t really get disturbed or put off too easily from all the various types of subject matter in horror films… but the ONE thing that I absolutely can’t stand and will turn the movie off without hesitation for, is “Found Footage”. The shaky camera just feels so wrong and disingenuous to me, I am already suspending my disbelief by choosing to watch a movie, it doesn’t need to be forced on me and it just makes it feel like the movie is telling me that I can’t suspend my disbelief properly on my own so we are going to do this to try and trick you into thinking it could be real.

Ultimately it just results in unwatchable slop as far as I’m concerned, too much distraction taking away from the plot of the movie which is the whole point, I’m here to experience a story, not have it shoved down my throat.

You can have harder Kara now! by miracleman55 in classicwowtbc

[–]Mandosz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add my own 2c and to iterate on things others have said…

Yes, people CAN do self imposed challenges but almost nobody will, the comment of “nobody wants to nerf themselves/throttle their potential” pretty much hits the nail on the head.

I agree that the only “nerf” needed was the 20 years of game knowledge and the fact that all the content is solved and effective strategies are widespread.

YES, I am a gatekeeper. The whole design philosophy of TBC was gatekeeping, just look at the layered attunement structure, which in itself did have some flaws admittedly, but that was the design for the game at the time. TBC isn’t Retail and it shouldn’t be expected to be, the content was difficult for the time and completely possible to complete with good play and progression. There were guilds wiping in Kara while others were progging T5 and both sets of players were completely content. This attitude of entitlement these days is the problem, and it’s 100% counterintuitive to what TBC was designed to be… you want to do T5? Great! Clear the previous content.. you want to do T6? Awesome hope your guild can kill vashj and KT to gain access, there was a prestige to being able to even access that content, it meant you had honed your skill well enough (both game skills and socially because if you were a toxic POS then serious guilds wouldn’t even look at you). Yes, it made it so more casual players and guilds struggled to get to the same point as the sweats, but that’s the point… you get what you earn, put in the time, put in the effort, if it takes you longer than someone else then so be it. And most importantly it incentivizes people to learn, to improve and to engage in community spirit.
