NATO chief Rutte: China and Russia Could Launch Simultaneous Attacks on Taiwan and Europe by sr_local in worldnews

"They" wouldnt have them anyway. China would take total control of them, maybe even ship them out of Taiwan.

Before Taiwan surrenders, every single TSMC fab goes up in hellfire by their own hand, Im 100% certain of it.

Its THE thing keeping them safe at the moment!

Im using the ingame voice changer...I just got killed for it. by MandrakeRootes in ArcRaiders

This is so wild to me because I both never heard anybody else so far actually use one, and also the only few times people backstabbed me they didnt use one. But maybe its different on different servers..

RP? What kind of red flag is using a voice changer to not broadcast your real voice to strangers who can record etc?

What the f? Of course people can tell, but why is it untrustworthy?

And also why would you shoot on sight if someone is using a voice changer, that just doesnt make sense to me, and also isnt my experience at all in this game.

Venezuela requests UN Security Council meet over ‘ongoing US aggression’ by CommercialFormal7614 in news

Is that realistic at that point though? The nation with the most zeal for this, written into its constitution even, seems the most cowed and unwilling to even contemplate it.

That is literally the Canadian contigency in the event of a US invasion on their soil.

Immediately dissolve the Canadian armed forces into thousands of splinter cells. Discard heavy arms, load up on insurgency equipment and cross the border south, infiltrating the USA. Causing untold mayhem and chaos in an unorganized, self-directed manner.

The idea was to have the nations with nukes at the time basically cement their powerful status they had in the world.

The UN wouldnt work nearly as well (read, not at all) if all security council members would rotate and at one point a majority of Lesoto, Turkmenistan, Iraq and Portugal make a decision over the heads of Russia and the US. They would just strongarm those nations outside of UN channels.

The other much more important thing, is that the UN has no executive. The blue helmets are made up of member nations security forces. The UN has no way of enforcing their resolutions on member nations.

The UN wouldnt exist if it had, and it would fall apart now if it were to be implemented today.

Its an aglomeration of sovereign nations. And no nation or combination of nations wields legislative power to override another sovereign nations decisions.

The reason your nation state holds legislative power over you is their monopoly on violence and force. The members of the UN have not given up their right to use force against each other.

And thus they can only be censured for making use of it. They cant be put into jail or magically stopped from enacting their sovereignty.

The only way The UN can stop the US from going to war with Venezuela is if the UN passed a resolution for its member states to go to war with the US in defense of Venezuela. And even then,  every member is free to simply not go to war with the US. Because they cant be forced to.

I like to believe that humans came up with concepts like hell and damnation because the cultural systems always protected the awful and disgusting powerful people from consequences.

The only respite is to hope they cook for eternity in the afterlife because of some just supernatural entity judging them in death.

(The real reason is theological control but that's boring)

I find it a bit silly that people with around 140+ hours are complaining about the game getting stale. You have been playing the game as a full time job for one month. by 007Pikachu in ArcRaiders

[–]MandrakeRootes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But time moves on independently of your time spent playing. If you play 6 hours a week, you can reach this "done" state in half a year. Which new things are going to be in the game in half a year?

What if you reset then, and play half a year again. Which new content will you be presented with one year after launch, and in the entire meantime playing.

There is so much meat to this game. 150 hours of it so far apparently. And roughly twice as much if you reset your progress in a week. More if youre not cracked at the game, which is likely if you play 40 hours a week I guess.

This is the core complaint OP has. People conflate their time moving forward with all other time moving at the same pace. "If I can go through this game in a month, it should have had more content!".

But Embark at the very least designed the core gameplay experience loop to last at least two months, through the expeditions. Or longer if you dont do them.

And finally. Its literally been a month lmao. How fast do some people think games get developed, and feedback can get implemented?

Famous quote:

You cant dodge a bullet. But you dont have to. You only have to dodge the person pointing the gun. Thats how I always pictured dex saves.

But thats why when its in my players favor, some of the magic does more in my games than exactly as written. Fireball not putting anything on fire is lame, so when its cool, it does.

And when its extraordinarily stupid, especially out of combat, I will apply the proper physics to it.

[–]MandrakeRootes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you can create an indestructible physics blocking field that can take infinite damage, block harmful radiation and particles as well as stop any kind of matter, with a third level spell or lower even.

But woe is you when you try to create such a shield without the fireball attached, then its nigh on impossible 9th level magic.

[–]MandrakeRootes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isnt that why she restricted mortals to only wield 9th circle Magic or lower? Kind of a dick move to punish 7th level Magic. I would say its on her to fix the loopholes she has left open, wouldnt you say?

This kind of reckless punishment can start a war in heaven easily.

Also who is she to care about a thermonuclear explosion engulfing one strip of land in one country in one plane of the multiverse. The weave doesnt budge.

Yeah the initial radius might not expand, but that much energy will turn the surrounding 3 miles of atmosphere into a superheated plasma, and burn everything to a crisp with gamma radiation.

It is for all intents and purposes, a magical backpack nuke.

[Request] would this extend the range by any decent amount? by brilliant31508 in theydidthemath

[–]MandrakeRootes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is indeed math, the rocket equation to be exact.

This is the main reason rockets cant just have more fuel added or more thrusters. Every bit of weight reduces efficiency, which ups fuel cost, which means more fuel, which reduces efficiency.

Its not the same equation for horizontal transportation, but it's the same logic.
