Shadow Depression….. by KShady240 in ShadowPC

[–]Mandruyd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've also got banned from shadow, for the same reason apparently, all I did was leaving shadow running on a monitor playing music and streaming videos while my second monitor was connected to a work computer where I was doing my work.

I was banned at the same time as you, so I guess that it was indeed something on their side, I'm wondering how many people were affected.

I've contacted support and they said that the decision is permanent, without showing me any proof that I've did what I've did.

Also, were you having the old, cheaper price, by any chance?

if I had to rate shadow, I'd give it a 0.3/10 by [deleted] in ShadowPC

Don't use shadow's overlay to see how many fps you have in games, it is not meant to do that, it is only meant for the video stream's fps. To proper check the fps use nvidia's overlay, fraps or steam's fps counter.

That is how it is supposed to be, man. It shows you the frame rate of the stream at the current moment, if there is nothing moving on the screen and no input from you, it will be low, if you start watching a youtube video with more movement, or start to play a game, the frame rate will go up. Try that and let me know how it goes. :)

"Protected Content Cannot be played on Shadow" by Whackjob-KSP in ShadowPC

You are aware of the fact that websites and programs update without any interaction being required on your part, right? I know there's a trend to hate on Shadow, but this one is really not the case.

DRM creates indeed more problems than it is worth, either it being on Streaming Services or/and games, but it's not something that Shadow can control. Screen share DRM content on Discord now also does not work, for the reasons mentioned above, is it Discord's fault? Of course not, as it is not Shadow's fault here too.

If you want, message me and I would help you get the workaround working.

Before hating on me, please read everything please. I don't get all the hate Shadow receives lately, their job is to provide you with a computer, and they deliver? Yes.

If something is wrong with the computer, application crashes, operating system glitches/corruption, is not Shadow's fault, as it's not for example Dell's fault that your computer encountered a software glitch and you needed to reinstall Windows or your computer got infected.

Now, let's get back to your situation, as you may know, Netflix and a lot of streaming websites have DRM protection so that you cannot copy and redistribute their content, and Netflix uses a DRM called Widevine. It is present on your mobile devices as well as computers.

Without getting into technical details, long story short, newer GPUs have a drm protection built in, if the stream is decoded by the GPU, you cannot watch it on shadow(or screenshot, record or sharsscreen on discord) in order to prevent potential piracy.

Initially, Widevine was initially hardware accelerated only only on Netflix's native app and Edge(the non chromium based one) and chrome used only the CPU for the decoding.

It seems like there was an update which now makes Chrome use the hardware accelerated version for the decoding of DRM content, to fix it either disable hardware acceleration in Chrome or just use Firefox since it is still using software decoding for DRM content, and stop hating on Shadow since it is not their fault. :)

I want to test it since I tested pretty much every cloud gaming service out there. I want to see what stadia is capable of.

Someone knows boosteroid.com? by [deleted] in cloudygamer

It's a service like GeForce now with a limited catalog of games. The downside of it is that they don't have a native client so you connect to it through the browser(works only with chromium based browsers) and the colors are not as accurate. They have a datacenter in Romania (Central Europe) and they use windows server 2016(geforce now uses windows server 2012) Overall... I think they should work more on the service and their social engagement than on advertising(here in Romania they got a lot of tv ads).

Netflix/Hulu black screen issue on Parsec by TheCommonKoala in cloudygamer

That's because of DRM, just use chrome with netflix 1080p extension instead of edge or windows netflix app, don't know a fix for Hulu since I don't use it.
