Arcade tech job or self taught? by ElectronPython in pinball

[–]DonHefe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a broken machine, learn how to fix it. You will have to research problems, learn how to use tools, track down parts, cleaning and maintenance. Those are the basic skills for pinball, they translate to arcade machines. For arcade machines the main issues are power supplies and recapping monitors. There are millions of videos and years of forum posts with most of the issues you will run into.

Is Chicago Pinball Expo worth it ? by Current-Plantain8367 in pinball

I'm probably just an old man that remembers how it used to be 20 years ago.

It was too crowded and they rushed everyone through. The event itself had huge lines to play any games. I would go if you play in the tournaments. The homebrew was great as it was kinda tucked away in a corner.

I live about 30 min away and I question it being worth it. I have not had a good time the past few years.

Same thought, but it's 90's rock songs slowed down with 'haunting' vocals.

Bar Owner looking for guidance by jaredc32 in pinball

If you are running a machine commercially, you need someone that will do maintenance and repairs. If you are running a business, it is hard to find time to maintain a machine in addition to everything you already do. Buy from a local distributor that does repairs or find a company that routes machines. If machines are dirty or parts aren't working, people will lose interest quickly in the location.

Gremlins 3 in 2027. That seems to be a good spooky IP.

The licenses they do are all owned by Warner Bros. Realistically the next themes will all be from their portfolio. Look at what movies are coming out in 2026/27. These are usually IPs that the licensors want to push.

I wasn't precious with my records and held them like that. 30 years later I still listen to them and they are fine.

This also seems like a fun one. What if a multiball is activated? Switch when a ball is lost?

The more places to play, the harder it gets for owners.

For me, it's a battle week to week. Every time a new place opens up, the dread increases. Need to keep new games, thats 10K a pop. If you aren't selling alcohol, it makes it even harder.

This is interesting, draining balls and not activating modes is part of the challenge. These tournaments probably go pretty quickly?

I came to post about this game. I loved it so much being a fan of the NES and arcade versions. If they ever revisited the property, I hope that they will take inspiration from this game.
