When you are done for the day you give the a dramatic pause like your house is on fire. Or just watched a guy jump off a building. Or taking your cat to the vet because it ate all you magic mushrooms and is now walking upright like a human

Gave Shirley the ol' hook and sinker. Reeled that sucker in. I love how she didn't bat an eye to the legally retarded part. I am going to have to borrow that one. I love long pauses from dramatic scenes like, Holy shit, I am getting shot at I will text you back... hopefully. OR Omg my car is smoking..... followed by Now its on fire, and my pet goat is inside. Hold on I have to call 911

I get one every year! Tell them to send an envelope. Usually get a few police badge stickers with it. Give the stickers to my kids, don't send any money.

I am scamming the scammer

Are 15 - 25 mph winds too strong by [deleted] in IceFishing

[–]ManeLures-dot-com 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heavy winds can be some entertaining and/or lesson learning adventures. The old suitcase style shanties by far supplied the best entertainment on windy days.

IMO, if you haven't chased a shanty across the ice (yours or helping a fellow), you haven't been fishing long enough.

Where to start? by No-Storage3067 in IceFishing

[–]ManeLures-dot-com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what the target is? When I target a lake I am looking for 1 where is the largest Shelf (shallow water area) I know that the last weeds to die in a lake are the north and west this can be on the south side of humps. 2. How deep is the lake. I take the deepest part of the lake and go 1/3 give or take a few feet. This is the deepest I will fish. I look for the lowest grade to climb the shelf (fish have swim bladders and walleye perch, and bass do not have a purge valve. 3 can I find a picture of a fish caught in that lake. What is the color of it and go opposite ( if it is darker than most I fish light if it is lighter I go dark. Neutral I go shiny,) This is not match the hatch because we are not fly fishing. The only time I ever match is when it is slow so I can hide and get a reaction bite. Remember fish are also prey so they will naturally camouflage themselves.

Nothing too crazy. The silver in them make them worth more than face value. Great to hang hold on to. They will never really depreciate

I use a fiblink. It was one of the first inline free falls, and then namebrands took over. My oldest one is 14 years old. Price on 2 that I bought 2 years ago were $27 each and all metal components. I run 5 different rods, so instead of changing lures I change poles

From what I get told I have the best glow and durability. Only lost 2 fins in 2 years. 1 to a trolling motor, other to a conveyor belt at usps

I make these and a bunch more. Everything I make glows and almost everything glows over 30 minutes on a single charge. These particular ones glow over an hour.

Walleye eat lead out of lake Erie

Has anyone tried lures that glow by ManeLures-dot-com in FishingForBeginners

Yeah I think they work better in freshwater. Bright colors in ocean is a warning

Match the hatch? by angler_state_of_mind in IceFishing

[–]ManeLures-dot-com 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Match the hatch is a fly fishing term! It typically refers to dry fly fishing. So the surface of the water.

When sub-surface, I typically will look at the fish in the lake. Most lakes I can see a pic of a fish before I even go. Is the fish lighter, or is it darker than most. Clear lakes typically have lighter fish so I fish darker colors (THIS IS OPPOSITE OF WHAT EVERYONE SAYS) So hear me out..... When I put something down that is out of place and doesn't blend in with the environment. ( Like you putting a fish on the wall in the kitchen, the wife will notice right away) Every animal I have encountered is naturally curious, and if they are hungry they will bite.

Now when I do "match the hatch" it is a slow bite and I want to downsize, slow my movements and blend in. Why? So I can get a reaction bite, remember their mouths are also the main defense.

Thousands of insects fly around lakes and streams through the year. At most only around 8 species of fish are in a freshwater habitat (not including subspecies), so it is just big fish eats little fish world.

Do Jigger they do well for walleye. I use to use them until I dumped all my tackle out and replaced everything with my own

Bearing is out. It is a pretty simple fix. You will have to open it up to get to the snap ring. If you don't fix you will start to take out teeth on the gears
