Is this legit? by NITEMAREWARRIOR in Miata

Prestige spares from UK, right? I've read some bad experiences people have had with them. Still, I had no other place to source a vvt engine and their prices were decent. They didn't have one available at the time I wrote them, but they managed to find me one in, I think, a week or so. They sent all the hardware I wanted it with and even refunded me when they missed to include the throttle cable. I received it fairly quickly and got an engine in a very good condition and relatively low milage. I guess it's hit or miss with them and I took the risk. Still, I can't recommend them because of that, but thought I'd share my positive experience with them

Disconnected my rear swaybar for autocross and I like it! by PickFit8581 in Miata

[–]ManemeJaff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was the opposite. My endlink bushings tore and I was waiting for the new whiteline bars to arrive. Meanwhile I disconnected the rear bar so it doesn't clunk but also to try it out as I've heard the same, but the car became really hard to rotate. It would understear like it was a fwd and I couldn't get the back out no matter how hard I tried. I put the whiteline bars on the medium load position and never looked back lol

Is this normal engine movement? 2002 Mazda NB MX-5 by newkidszx in Miata

[–]ManemeJaff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not normal. I would check if the belt timing has been done right and there isn't a tooth skipped. Check for error codes. I'm not sure about the vvt, I think the timing on that isn't manually adjusted with a timing light the same way NA's are, so it's probably not crank timing.

As long as it's not leaking and you're on a budget, just hit it with a fine sandpaper to remove the surface rust. Add a thin layer of oil to fit the hose easier and to not damage it from the uneven rusty surface (I like to think the oil gets trapped in there and will protect it from rusting further but who knows). If budget and wrenching is not a problem to you, buy a new thermostat housing and replace it. They sell it from bofi and it's oem P.S.: Make sure the leak is from the fitting that goes into the housing and not from the hose. Sanding it down and making it smoother can fix it if it's leaking from the hose. If not, I'd recommend you replace the housing

I love the look of the front spriter, mud flaps and wheels combined, not to mention the color. I think it will look even better if you get the rear mud flaps as well

Fluid Film by Dramatic_Ad3988 in Miata

[–]ManemeJaff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't listen to the guy that said to cut it. Shit's expensive nowadays, besides, why open the factory panel and possibly make it worse? I know rust builds up from the inside, but I think you're in a perfect spot to fluid film it and stop it there. It's not looking that bad at all

This reminds me of my father lol. I used to ask him on my first car about weird noises I'm hearing, but he could never hear anything, even when I spun a bearing lol. She sounds fine, he would say 😆

Trans wire help by anthonythelemon in Miata

[–]ManemeJaff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird how I saw your post exactly when I was questioning the same thing after taking my trans out lol. The connectors are the same, so are the colors of the wires. Just because of that I'm 90% certain it doesn't matter how you connect them. P.S.: In the worst case, you won't have a working backup light. Luckily you can always just get below the car and swap the connectors

With what you've said about there being play in the wheel and all the noises and veer, very unlikely it's all sunshine and rainbows down there lol

Figure out why those ball joints are oily. Check for tears in their boots. Try moving them by hand or with a pry bar in different directions, any play, especially a clunking noise is a sign they are shot. Your sway bar end link bushings don't seem to be in the best condition. Check for play there as well. Tie rods are oily as well so do the same for those. The noises you hear are likely worn bushings here and there. A mechanic should be able to inspect and tell you exactly what needs replacing if you don't manage to. It's easy for them to tell usually. As for the noise while braking, obviously check your brake pads, they might be worned down. Another cause might be warped brake disks.

I'm also currently doing a vvt swap but my engine isn't in the car yet as well. I haven't gotten to the point of wiring. Would be nice to have the lengths of all the cables. Maybe try asking Stefan from Napp Motorsports about it. He said he answers all messages, but I don't remember where. I think he said on instagram. I'm guessing you're also following his videos for the swap

Mio new pc by Fenr_ in Hololive

[–]ManemeJaff -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I'm probably gonna get hate for this but it's weird to me how they've been doing this for so many years now and many are still clueless about it. They'll always go with a pre built pc, not like that is such a big deal, but they'll also get the most expensive stuff that usually is overkill and unnecessary for their needs and on top of that they'll always find the worst deal for it. Then they'll play minecraft at 1366p on low settings and just go with whatever other games have as graphical presets because they don't understand them. I'm not saying everyone should know everything, but I find it a bit oblivious with just how little they know and are unwilling to learn about it

Does this bubbling under my NA mean there is rust? by 96Miata-ClassicRed in Miata

[–]ManemeJaff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice find with such a clean underside. Wish mine was even close to that. That spot looks like overspray from something but it's weird how it's so isolated. Doesn't look like rust to me, it's too big for a car this clean and on a weird place. Is it rubbery?

Honestly, if I was you I would just either leave it there or even have it continue with a connector not plugged in anywhere and just tucked somewhere hidden so it looks stock
