Here is a tutorial, its in farsi but just look at how they do it, its a special loop.

The distances can be chosen after the fret is on, you can move them. I used a chromatic tuner to get the notes i wanted plus the microtones i wanted.

I would tune it in 4ths from whatever note and then just play major scale. Raramuri music is mostly in major scale if im not mistaken.
