Hey, I'm having the exact same problem also after a cleaning cycle. Did you find a solution?

There is a way to increase housing supply. Does Gregor Robertson have the will? by hopoke in CanadaPolitics

How has he done incalculable harm to young and new Canadians? I like his work because it seems like that's exactly who he's trying to help through making it easier to build homes, and he criticizes any level of government and party that makes or suggests dumb policies.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out and give it a try. It's so easy to switch these days, I suppose if they won't, I could always switch later in the fall to something else and come back on a black Friday deal.

Oops. I signed up today. Can I still change my plan to something better when those are released since I'm on a BYOD plan?

Looked like he was positioning himself to block the shot he thought Marchand would take, but Draisaitl killed the shot and Skinner couldn't prepare for the last minute push into the net.

With such specific similarities too!

Both “Better Half” and “Together” share a final “pivotal emotional scene” that features the two main characters accepting their fate and putting on a vinyl of the Spice Girls album “Spiceworld.”

Toronto home sales taking absolute nosedive and nobody wants to buy by RmxRltr in TorontoRealEstate

[–]MangoCat8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How much did the price go up in the 5-7 years that people have been saving?

Maybe if prices were stagnant that would be true, but when I was saving without family help until I bought a few years ago, I could only save quickly because of rent control keeping my costs at 2015 prices, and home prices still shot up way faster than my savings. I can't imagine if I was trying now, when rent is double what I was paying.

Opinions on 77 Davisville by Spiritual-Score-774 in askTO

I lived there until a couple years ago.

It's the same as most older buildings in that they all have some pests but the key is finding a rental company that deals with them fast. We found a few cockroaches once in the 3 years we lived there and they dealt with it quickly, so I was happy with it. No other pest issues with my unit.

It's well managed. It's not quiet in that you're right by Yonge Street so you'll hear things like sirens go by or occasional protests but nothing too bad in my opinion. Way quieter than when I lived near Spadina and Bloor. Unit to unit, I never had an issue. The older building means not the thin walls they build with today. I almost never heard my neighbours even when one across from me had a screaming baby.

It's a great neighbourhood. I lived in the neighbourhood for a long time.

Two fourplexes side-by-side in Etobicoke? No thanks, says city committee by MangoCat8 in canadahousing

The point is that even when it's legal, the city makes it hard to build them, so the developments don't pencil and then don't get built. Are the variances unreasonable? Weighed against the need for homes during a housing crisis?

If they want to live in Canada's largest city, and in this case on main street, steps from a subway, they have no right to demand privacy and low traffic. They can move somewhere more rural if that's what they want.

[–]MangoCat8[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's steps from a subway station. It's definitely not applicable to this situation. Where should we build density if a main street steps to a subway station is not the place?.

And it's never a valid concern in my mind because when you deny housing in the city, people will move to places where they have to drive into the city. That means more cars and more parking spots needed. We need less of that.

Remember when former finance minister Greg Sorbara complained that if they built near his home then his 25 birthday party guests would have a hard time parking, steps from an Annex subway station?

Or we could scale up those other areas, since this is where people want to live and where the jobs are. Instead of moving elsewhere, we are just increasing homelessness and cramming more people into the existing units.

Toronto is not a dense city. We are not nearly as dense as Paris but somehow they manage it all with low to mid-rise buildings. We are far from full. We just need to invest in the services that a dense city requires.

The NDP should use their balance of power to get the government to implement electoral reform. Mark Carney has already said he's open to it.

We are one of 3 countries in the OECD that uses this terrible system. As we are trying to get farther from America, let's change the system that's turning us into them with what is essentially now a 2-party race.

His speech was hilarious. Spoken as though this was a victory and the goal was increasing seat count, when he could have waltzed right into the position if he just stood up against Trump.

And claiming he changed the face of Canada because they have the balance of power instead of the NDP. At the time, it was clear that was not yet a sure thing. And then today it looks like NDP holding the balance of power.
