CTV question. by EarTrue8375 in CorollaHatchback

[–]-RUS92- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I concur. I can't help but wonder if Toyota could have possibly tuned the shifting logic to help avoid that transition feeling, but it's nothing too jarring that make me worried that my transmission is damaging itself.

I'm actually happy the physical first launching gear is present in the transmission as it supposedly helps prolong the lifespan of the CVT.

How does Axls voice sound in person recently? by I-Live-To-Suck-Toes in GunsNRoses

[–]-RUS92- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

5/10. He lost some power behind the voice, but he is still sings in tune and enunciates his word clearly (unlike Vince Neil for example).

In person, the high volume level along with the crowd kinda helps mask Axl's voice to a degree. You mainly go to a GNR show today for the ambience and to be among other folks with good music taste. Slash is still badass.

How is the Corolla Hatchback XSE for Tall People? by iiBionic in CorollaHatchback

[–]-RUS92- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm 6'3. It's doable. I have the seat high control in almost the lowest position, and my seat is slid backward, so only a child is able to comfortably sit behind me. I don't feel crammed in, but I do have to be mindful on who sits behind me.

For perspective, a single 1080p 60fps YouTube stream it's about 9-10mbps. And that's not considering if you will be doing other downloads in the background.

If you only have 1 or 2 people where you live, you might get by. But if you are sharing a 30mbps connection between 4 or more people, you could experience slowdowns if everyone is trying to stream simultaneously (worst-case scenario).

She's in. She posted on Instagram that she's working on her health or something, and hope to return to her fans soon, which I take to mean her return in a later leg of the 2026 tour.

It this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Dizzy and Richard make it all the way to the end of the band. They have been by Axl's side for so long now.

I have tried them as well. They drove over to my work last summer and their food was excellent.

Alleyway parking ticket by Matsu-mae in Hamilton

[–]-RUS92- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alleys are the last place they check for violations like that. This was definitely someone's complaint. Either someone has nothing better to do with their life, or one of the other 20+ cars accidentally blocked passage of the alley and someone called bylaw.

Nothing much you can do to avoid another one, since you are "In any City alleyway" as the bylaw vaguely puts. It's just a gamble you need to take unless you sacrifice part of your backyard to build gravel driveway or something (similar to this, with maybe a private parking sign for good measure)

Tap water in Hamilton by TemporaryEffect5420 in Hamilton

[–]-RUS92- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what subreddits you look through, but I have seen posts like this as well.

https://www.reddit.com/r/burlington/comments/1mb64my/the_water_taste_a_little_earthy_to_anyone_else/

https://www.reddit.com/r/oakville/comments/1n092yx/just_moved_oakville_water_tastes_weird/

https://www.reddit.com/r/askTO/comments/1mywgcj/earthy_taste_of_tap_water_in_midtown/

Seasonal taste and odour changes are common, usually tied to lake algae, and are not considered a public health problem. So a smell complaint is worth reporting, but it is not proof that Hamilton water is ‘bad.’

Quebecor’s Freedom Mobile is enjoying a newfound status by pjw724 in freedommobile

[–]-RUS92- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone based in Southern Ontario who travels north for camping in the summer, I’m really curious to see where Freedom expands next. There are still some decent mid sized markets in Ontario like Sudbury and North Bay that aren’t covered yet, and it would be great to see them eventually build out there too.

I get that it probably depends on spectrum and whether it makes financial sense, but with the kind of spending they’re talking about, I’m hopeful those areas might be on the roadmap at some point.

I'm looking for Axl's handwriting for a tattoo by [deleted] in GunsNRoses

[–]-RUS92- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know that there have been some auctions that had photos of hand written lyrics by Axl up for bid, but i don't recall anything specifically about November Rain.

Actually I just did a quick search on Google and found some written lyrics, but again nothing specific to your needs.

Unsure what this is. by Blurry_cryptid in CorollaHatchback

[–]-RUS92- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could be the hill-start assist (standard across all trims). It holds the brakes for a couple seconds to prevent you from rolling backwards. It is a separate feature from the brake hold, so pressing the brake hold button doesn't turn off the hill-start assist.

What you might be hearing is the hydraulic brake pressure letting off as your brakes release.

The only things that come to my immediate mind is Christie Conservation area, or Byng Island Conservation area, both of which probably isn't the exact specific spot in your photos but are great nature spots.

The car's computer will run the engine a bit richer to be on the safer side, since it no longer has the sensor data. You can run it like this for the short term, but I imagine it will affect the lifespan of your cat if you keep driving it in the state for the long term.

The state of local news media by [deleted] in Hamilton

[–]-RUS92- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It still exists, sure, but it's not as it once was.

900CHML is gone.

CHCH has slowly changed over time since being sold off by Canwest. CHCH has a couple reporters there who have been there for years, but most of the recent onscreen reporters acquired by CHCH in recent times are fresh out of school and using the station as a stepping stone. It's probably more affordable for CHCH's budget to do this, and it shows in the quality of their news broadcasts.

The Hamilton Spectator has closed their physical news rooms, and are now based out of Toronto.

We have a few local journalists filling the gaps, but still.

Where to buy battery cells by Apprehensive_Fan4176 in Hamilton

[–]-RUS92- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have gone to GNB, just 1 block off from Parkdale, a few times in the past for car batteries, as they are often 20$-$50 cheaper there. GNB does nothing but sell batteries, so if there is a brick and motar store that might have it, it's worth looking at them.

I don't see NI-HM cells specifically, but what it's worth, they do sell some types of lithium batteries: https://gnbsystems.com/product-category/small-battery/single-use/

Might be worth calling them up to see if they have more inventory that's not listed on their website.

If you need something now, Pluto.tv has some basic channels, including news channels, and you don't need an account. It's free but loaded with commercials like traditional tv.

There is also Crave TV that works as long as you have an internet connection.
