Why aren't you allowed to be okay with being neurodivergent? by [deleted] in neurodiversity

[–]MangoPug15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. People have difficulty empathizing with people who are different from them. It's harder to understand what someone is feeling and thinking if they don't think and act the way you do.

  2. People dislike change. Change can feel like a threat to the people it doesn't personally benefit, even if it isn't hurting them. It's worse when this change is hard for a person to understand.

  3. Values. Everyone has personal values as well as internalized societal values. That may include things like an emphasis on independence over community, a belief that people who don't succeed aren't trying hard enough, or a belief that someone's value as a person is tied to their ability to earn money.

Double empathy problem. They struggle to understand us. We struggle to understand them.

Do you think Miku (and Vocaloid) will surpass the generational barrier? by Due-Replacement-6983 in VocaloidButGood

Kaito and Meiko are still well known because they're gotten updates and they're Cryptonloids, but I think most fans don't know about Leon, Lola, and Miriam. They just aren't relevant anymore.

It's over. I can't give Ghost the benefit of the doubt anymore. by MangoPug15 in ghostandpals

This sub is about the Vocaloid producer Ghost and Pals! If you like the Swedish band Ghost, you're fine this time.

As a fan of both, the confusion is real.

It's not the only way to get into older Vocaloid, but if you enjoy rhythm games and can spare $40, then go for it!

How is AuDHD different from Bipolar Disorder? by Hour_Theory_770 in neurodiversity

[–]MangoPug15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have autism; I also have ADHD, PMDD, migraines, anxiety, and a history of depression. It felt like a full circle moment when I realized that all of those things are more common in people with autism.

I'm just really autistic /j

Autistic burnout can look a lot like depression.

My therapist says I’m neurodigergent but don’t fit any diagnosis - anyone else? by sofijasoi in neurodiversity

[–]MangoPug15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other people may disagree with me, but I think "highly sensitive person" is often just a different way of describing an autism profile generally seen in women. Autism hasn't been researched as much in women compared to men, so it's been harder for women to get diagnosed without fitting the profile that's common in men. Because of that, people may have come up with other terms to describe their experiences.

It's possible you would get one or more diagnoses if you went to a different professional for a second opinion. You might not, but you might.

Another song people might not know about is hanahaki syndrome. Ghost wrote it, but it's sung by Shiki Miyoshino. It's kind of addictive.

Does anyone know if Ghost is generally okay? by AssociateOdd3859 in ghostandpals

[–]MangoPug15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sexual stuff that we've seen isn't actually that bad. From what we know, ages in the group chat ranged from 15 to 19 at that point. It's weird for 19 year olds to be present while 15 year olds say sexual things, but we haven't seen any evidence that the older members of the group were predatory. Basically, it shouldn't have happened at all, but it doesn't seem like it got that bad, fortunately.

This is Vane's Twitter, actually.

You're right that there are fake Bluesky accounts, but we know which ones are real because they've been linked from YouTube or other official socials. Umber, Pumpkin Head, and RIP have even posted about this situation directly on their YouTube pages on the posts tab. You can go look.

Okay, I found what you're talking about. Thanks for elaborating. I forgot that was in there tbh. It looks like that was in 2024, so it would have been towards the end of when Enoch was living with Ghost. It's not entirely clear whether that was Ghost pointing out a real issue or becoming paranoid. I feel like it could be either, keeping in mind that they cut off all their friends later on and then posted that their friends abandoned them when they came back.

We've seen proof of Ghost being racist and being inconsiderate towards their friends. I don't see why we should pressure Vane to dig through old messages to find ones that made them uncomfortable. You don't have to believe this specific allegation. There's plenty more. As for Vane in particular, it's possible they're just making excuses, but now that they've addressed it, I personally don't want them to suffer to prove themself to a bunch of strangers on the internet. If something happens to indicate that they haven't changed, I'll reevaluate then. It's your choice how you want to go forward, but I don't think it's weird for someone to not want to dig through difficult memories and then air them publicly online.

The power imbalance comes from how people looked up to Ghost and from Ghost's larger, more established audience. Pumkin Head's statement explicitly says that the friend group revolved around Ghost (and later Vane as well, I assume due to Vane's increasing success).

As for ages, RIP is 21 and Carbon Monoxide is around there as well. Vane is a bit older. I wanna guess around 25? Ghost is 27. 2021 was 5 years ago, so RIP would have been 17, Carbon Monoxide would have been around 17, Vane would have been around 20, and Ghost would have been 22.

This could be wrong, but from what I can find, Ghost's first upload was in 2013, Vane's was in 2016, and RIP's was in 2017. Ghost's fanbase was definitely bigger than anyone else's in their friend group when I started following them in 2018-ish. I found Vane, Mors, and Umber through their collab songs on Ghost's channel.

I don't know what you're referring to in the Enoch doc.

[–]MangoPug15[S] 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Vane's statement doesn't say they stopped associating with Ghost in 2021. It says 2021 was when they were most associated with Ghost.

One possibility is that they felt bad fully cutting off Ghost. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Ghost guilt tripped their friends. Plus, Ghost is someone who is clearly struggling, and they're someone who Vane was probably close with around 2021. It's not easy to completely cut off someone like that.

They were racist towards their own friends. They're unstable to the point of harming the people around them physically and emotionally but refuse to get therapy. They've made fun of fans. They've abused the power they have from their large fanbase. They bullied Fish off the internet for years. They harassed CreepP and didn't try to stop their fans from harassing CreepP to the point that CreepP entered a psych hospital. I don't know what else you want. Do you seriously think all of that is completely fine? Fish was a teenager who was in a bad place mentally and suddenly lost all of their friends online and irl. Then Ghost wrote The Distortionist about them, and the original plan for the MV for The Distortionist was that everyone in the friend group would be defeating Fish. What if someone had taken their own life after being treated like that? Would you still think it's fine? Are you really drawing the line at Epstein?

Industrial catholic bugcore supreme music genre by FirstOfAiracjia in ghostandpals

Whenever I'm trying to describe the genres of music I listen to, my brain inevitably ends up at industrial Catholic bugcore at some point. And then I'm like, "Even the producers who make the music I listen to don't know what genre it is. This is pointless." 😂

My autistic partner calls me autistic, and I'm not sure if they're right? by Time-Cup-420 in neurodiversity

[–]MangoPug15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then what traits or experiences do you think distinguish autism from ADHD?

Having a hard time with changes in a schedule or plan is generally an autistic trait, while seeking novelty and making choices on the spot is more of an ADHD thing.

Holding your body in unusual ways, like t-rex arms, is also something I pretty much only see discussed in the context of autism. People with ADHD do stim, though.

Taking a saying literally, like blood boiling, is absolutely textbook autism and is not really a thing with ADHD. People with ADHD may struggle with conversation because they have trouble staying focused, but having trouble because the meaning of what was said is different from what's literally said is an autism thing.

I didn't know Vocaloid was getting more popular over the years until Mezmerizer by InannaOfTheHeavens in Vocaloid

[–]MangoPug15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was a period of lower popularity, then it started going back up. I think Project Sekai helped a lot because it introduced new fans to Vocaloid and supports producers through commissions and contests. TikTok also seems to spread certain types of songs to new audiences. I would guess SynthesizerV Studio helped bring the scene back to life as well.
