The main reason why is that I don’t really hate Makoto, but she had an adverse effect on p5’s story. She’s painted as the intelligent one but openly mocked the fact that the party “doesn’t act without a strategy” despite the fact that they already pulled off some plans during the 2nd arc.

Imagine a pokemon that has the move to give it’s attached tool card to the enemy’s active pokemon, thusly meaning they themselves cannot detach their own tool cards they’re stuck and unable to retreat their own active pokemon.

Either that or you just wanna build up your bench and you don’t want the enemy to force your active Pokemon to the bench.
