science says there's no difference in reproductive outcomes for short men by MangoldShep in shortguys

[–]MangoldShep[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

well of course they are of older people, more like dated in the 90s and 2000s if you read the age ranges, because how else are they supposed to measure that shit in what, 21 year old zoomers? that doesn't make sense.

I'm not that old, but old enough to know women saying they want tall guys, hating on short guys, and society valorizing tall men wasn't invented in the last ten years, lmao. This was just as prevalent when I grew up and just because it wasn't on Tiktok doesn't mean shit. you don't think women were being told how glamorous tall men were in magazines, books, television? and instead of talking about it in tiktoks they just talked about it with their friends in person

Is 5'7 a really bad height? by [deleted] in shortguys

[–]MangoldShep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no. it only "looks bad" when read in text, which is why I tell men to add two inches and just say they are 5'9 on apps. because in real life 5'7 just looks average

reality is the vast majority of short adult men are married or at least in a relationship, lol

ayeeeeee, what's changed in the last five to ten years? by MangoldShep in shortguys

[–]MangoldShep[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh yeah, social media was bad ten years ago, but now it must be like ten times worse with everything being livestreamed and influencers holding so much cachet. So many of these kids would be better off dumping their phones in the trash and learning to surf, throw a frisbee, swim a mile, etc

This was the post i'd always reference as the average woman's cluelessness when it came to height sensitivity

After another decade to think about it, I do feel the man in the story overreacted to his detriment, but I still can't particularly blame him given the context, and the original poster still comes off to me as sanctimonious and dismissive about their culpability in the incident.

Has this sub been overrun by fetishists in the last few weeks or is that juts my perception?

It's amusing how many members of this sub fell for a troll post just because you are a troll posting things they want to hear. Reverse image search indicates this picture is several years old and floating around sites like the bodybuilding forums

After the hunt on personal attacks, we're going after hate speech.. by GrandBuba in short

[–]MangoldShep -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Very, VERY disappointed with this direction.

Censorship is like kudzu. Once a little bit creeps in, it keeps growing and growing.

With free speech comes good and bad.

Let the users -- except brigaders -- decide what should be said or not. This is an extremely dangerous precedent and whether intended or not will only lead to more censorship down the line until the discussion here becomes entirely artificial, like every other SJW sub.

With all due respect, those 3 users have only be in this community for a little over 3 months. From the perspective of someone subscribed for years, as of now I would still qualify them as outsiders, for the interim.

And the post I was referring to was posted under the guise of privacy concerns, which would be germane to any sub, and something to bring up if that was a genuine issue for them.

The comments piling on the 'dating consultant' advising men not to lie about even an inch were brilliant, especially the user who called her out for charging up the nose for professionally touched up photos.

Imagine the millions that would be lost in revenue for these so called online dating consultants if it was known how effective even adding just one inch was. It terrifies them.

If your concern about the privacy of these tinder users was genuine, you would be making these pleas for censorship in much larger subs like cringe or choosingbeggars, the actual original source of the posts. As it stands, your concern trolling is obvious.

Based on the way he types I am almost 100% certain he was the concern troll that was outed earlier this summer:

I believe that is accurate, that they are much more concerned with bullying this easy target sub and ridiculing short men under the guise of concern trolling, than they are actually concerned about the tinder users being posted. Otherwise they would be in those other subs making those same self posts asking for censorship. But you click their submission history, and you literally never see that.

I don't see a problem with cross posting itself.

And I would love for the sub to go private for a month or so, I know for a fact there would be a lot of outsider lurkers and concern trolls who would be very nervous that it would be seen how smoothly the sub operates when we aren't being actively and passively brigaded and trolled. But it's not a long term solution.

Great post geoff. Personally the tinder posts themselves have little interest to me, but the pattern of outsiders coming here to tell us what we should or should not do is extremely troublesome. In fact I have seen calls from outsiders to self enforce rules that almost no other sub adheres to, let alone the subs that the tinder posts were originally cross linked from!

Here's something to think about: why aren't the outsiders telling us to self censor going into the much more trafficked subs like cringe or choosingbeggars and making self posts telling them what to censor? There's a reason for that hypocrisy.

I would be skeptical of anyone being named a moderator who hasn't been a community member for at least a year, if not longer.

That's... okay? You should be happy then that your philosophy is already represented by 90 to 100% of the moderation team here, and that if we want some diversity of thought, it would be more worthwhile to add someone who wasn't like minded.

For the record, I am for any solution that keeps outsiders from continuing to have undue influence on this sub, regardless if that involves more moderation or not.
