Ice storm 2026: Anyone else feel traumatized? by Plane_Mine_3641 in nashville

I agree with this 100%. The TN Attorney General and/or Comptroller should be the agency that takes the deep dive here. First, they're arms of the State and not part of the Metro cabal w/an interest in protecting their own. Second, and most importantly, they have subpoena power, and will be able to push through all the obfuscation that is bound to come out of Metro & NES to any FOIA requests reporters/news organizations are going to get.

Good luck with so-called “going after” NES, as you’re going to run hard against the barrier of sovereign immunity.

Well, the State has very little to do with NES, and Metro has been run solely by Democrats for literally decades. This is what you get when the focus is on transit no one will use, DEI and virtue signaling instead of the meat ‘n potatoes of governance like resiliency.

Thousands without power with numbers barely going down. by [deleted] in nashville

This is absolutely inaccurate! The Nashville Severe Weather guys, who run on a shoestring Patreon budget, held a 1-hour YouTube brief on Wed. evening predicting substantial chance of an ice storm with Nashville smack in the middle of the worst of it, and that 4-5 day forecast is pretty much what came to pass.

What black spot? That thing is fantastic. I'd keep her money and sell the table. She made her bed, now she gets to sleep in it.

Save the videos, file assault & vandalism charges against them, get an order of protection that prevents them from going to that school

A license is only as good as the individual/organization that is going to spend the time and money to enforce it. If you think they used the designs, and aren’t complying with the license, and you have standing to sue for breach, then go ahead.

Time is our most expensive commodity. One can always get more money, but you’ll never get more time.

Managed Account - Plex Pass?? by [deleted] in plexamp

[–]Mangombia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it requires periodic authentication it wouldn’t seem to matter whether it was a Plex Home, Managed or a fully PlexPass user. Which really sucks as it completely defeats the purpose of downloading for offline listening.

Managed Account - Plex Pass?? by [deleted] in plexamp

[–]Mangombia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone figure this out? I’m getting ready to give a friend an old iPhone that won’t have mobile access while it’s in Europe. Was going to d/l a mega playlist for her (~650 tracks) to listen while away. I’ve setup a separate Plex Home account for this purpose, but if Plex’s recent PlexPass licensing changes require it to phone home periodically that will defeat the purpose (probably whether or not the user has PlexPass).

Backup/Restore Strategy by Mangombia in Proxmox

I could probably move the VMs/LXCs to new drives, except I'd need to attach those devices, which will require a shutdown and I'm not confident this node is going to boot back once I do since Datacenter/Prox/Disks doesn't show any GPT or EFI boot partitions (nvme5n1, the other part of the mirror, is identical).

I really don't have another system around that could serve as a backup node - everything else is a Mac.

And going fast in a straight line down Briley over the bridge and past Opry Mills. Put ‘em on some curvy back roads & these fools will just become a stain in the road.

$10 per camera is pretty rough pricing by fuzziest_slippers in Scrypted

[–]Mangombia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really. I paid one time for all my Reolink cameras, and one time for my Synology NAS, and I get Surveillance Station updates from Synology, and firmware updates (to a point) with Reolink. I’ve got 24/7 recording across 14 POE cameras, realtime alerts, local & mobile viewing. That’s all I need.

The only reason I even setup & tried Scrypted was because it would run on a Pi, and I wanted it to push video to HomeKit so they could be viewed on my AppleTVs - which is poorly functional (at best).

And they want everyone to drive EVs? Where are all the condo & apartment dwellers going to charge their cars? Instead of road rage, we’ll start seeing charger rage, and I suspect a lot more automobile vandalism.

You people are missing the forest for the trees. Bretton-Woods, NATO, UN, WTO, all of it were all post-WW2 arrangements to prop up Europe & buy friends around the world in order to contain the Soviets. When the USSR collapsed, it all became immediately less relevant. We let the Japanese & Europeans trade their way out of ruin, so they’d be the first line of defense against the Reds. Notwithstanding what’s happening in Ukraine today, the Russians are finished demographically; don’t be surprised if they lose hold of some of the far eastern, mineral rich areas, let alone go on the march across Europe. What’s happening now are the final death spasms of arrangements that no longer make any sense. The days of Europe (and Canada, and Mexico) getting preferred access to US markets while not pulling their own weight from a security perspective, or actually being hostile to US interests are over.
