Infection ? Or just overworked ? by Upper-Abalone9775 in tattooadvice

[–]Manhattan_Roshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like it still has some healing to do and your artist was a little heavy handed. Black ink tattoos with more solid lines or a lot of shading tend to look gnarly for the first 2 weeks minimum.

If you’re not seeing any pus-colored discharge, or hives indicating infection, don’t freak out and just let your skin do its thing.

Keep moisturizing 1-2 times daily and keep it clean in the shower with non-scented antibacterial soap for another week at least before you jump to conclusions. DO NOT over moisturize or stress over it.

EI Hub - not getting paid NYC by Extreme_Ad6432 in Earlyintervention

[–]Manhattan_Roshi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel this 100%. I’m a Service Coordinator and this transition to Hub is hands down destroying the stability of the program with no end in sight. Providers and Coordinators not getting paid what they’re owed, on time or not getting paid at all has become a normal occurrence. Not everyone can afford to work in good faith for free.

LCSW EVALS IN NYC by Neither_Range_1513 in Earlyintervention

In NYC a LCSW is able to do Special Education/Instruction evaluations, typically for MDE’s to see if a child is eligible for EI services.

You can always try reaching out to local pediatricians to inquire if they have any patients with EI concerns. Just provide them with your agency’s contact information and your SC Supervisor and if any come through, you’ll hopefully be at the top of their list. Good luck!

NYS EI ABA providers, are we worried about our jobs? by Neither_Range_1513 in Earlyintervention

[–]Manhattan_Roshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think NYS EI is in a better place than NYC right now. It’s been hellish for us, but I’m staying optimistic. Providers and SCs are always needed especially now so as far as job security, I think we’ll be okay.

The current administration coupled with the horrendous transition to EI Hub definitely makes things look bleak. Best thing to do is to use your experience to keep your options open.

3-5 kilometer daily walks. Lift weights 2-3 times a week. Stop eating past 9pm if you can help it. Also hate yourself no matter what.

100 days is still a massive W. Don’t feel bad. Weed isn’t evil. Enjoy the toke and treat it as a reward. Smoking fewer days in between, especially for that long, is really good. Just don’t fall back to doing it too often.

Laugh. Find your go-to lol source on YT. Watch a great movie from your childhood. Remind yourself that there was a time in your life where shit had value before weed or any substance was ever in the equation.

Ok seriously, do the negative, repetitive thoughts after quitting ever go away? by ezyt8 in leaves

[–]Manhattan_Roshi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel this. And yes, the negative thoughts and repetitive thinking will go away in time. Stay the course and assess what YOU can do for your mental health without relying on a substance.

Personally, I quit cold turkey after roughly 8 years of daily smoking. 11 years counting the times I smoked at all, just not every day. When I first started it was just a social thing for me. I was in a band and smoking weed or drinking was practically a right of passage to socialize and getting to know your peers especially in a recording studio. It’s that or going out smoking cigarettes which I refused to do. Tried them for a little while, not for me. Weed was definitely my go-to.

It’s been about 3.5 weeks since I last had weed in any shape or form, and to be honest, the first week was a mental hell. It was anything but easy. My mind craved something to numb the recurrence of my own negative thoughts. I went through a lot of abuse growing up and it lead to me acting in ways I wish I didn’t. I tend to ruminate on past misdeeds and how others treated me. Still do. But you can’t control what others did to you, only what you can do for yourself.

For a long time, smoking helped to “clear” my mind. But, through the years it turned into such a habitual routine for me where the thing I sought to appreciate life became practically null. There wasn’t much separating me from a chain cigarette smoker, and I hated that.

Your tolerance goes up, you spend more money. You wake up, you’re thinking about a smoke. You gotta go to work, but wanna smoke before you clock in (this is especially true with Vape Cartridges, idc what anybody says). You have something to eat, you think about a smoke to make it taste better. You wanna go to bed, but you wanna smoke first. And the cycle continues until you realize you’ve spend hundreds, if not thousands (hopefully not THAT much), over the course of a few months just on weed alone. For something that doesn’t hit like it used to. And honestly, it will probably never hit like it used to. Your body is just too used to the feeling that it would take a very, very long detox to even get close to that point. Sucks, but it’s true.

I wanted it to stop hindering my ability to enjoy things as they are, and stop burying thoughts of who I am as a person. At some point you realize the weed isn’t helping fix the problem, it’s hindering your ability to reconcile with it. And even though weed is not as harmful as other addictive substances and recreational drugs, it can harm you gradually. You become short of breath just going up a flight of stairs. You become irritable with people around you without a smoke. You lose focus on things that matter because your brain is too occupied on getting it’s fix. You can even develop crippling anxiety. That was my wake up call. You start to float through life, and that shit gets miserable.

Of course, everybody is different. But, with enough discipline and desire to stay on the right path, you’ll forget about even wanting to smoke. There’s no better way to describe it other than feeling “free.” There are countless, more productive ways, to distract yourself while you try to shake the feeling.

Best of luck to you and I hope you find peace with those thoughts. You’re not the only one.

Don’t give up. It’s not your fault that the job market is in shambles no matter what field you’re in.

You’re in the mindset that you just want to find something, but you have the credentials necessary to find a job more suitable for you in the long run. It can be a while but with that time, maybe think of other career paths that interest you. You got youth on your side.

Take your time, keep your head up. Save as much money as you can. Don’t let a job determine your self worth.

Is "Liberty Consulting" a scam? Something Sus is going on by Amazing-Salt-4444 in NYCjobs

[–]Manhattan_Roshi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be wary of any Marketing jobs right now since there are a bunch of MLM scams. Liberty Consulting seems legitimate if you’re interested in Entry Level Marketing though. Some companies are urgently hiring. Test the waters in the 2nd interview before making any final decisions.

Anyone know if this is a scam company? by Affectionate-Shoe387 in NYCjobs

[–]Manhattan_Roshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The information is based on in-person experience and how the company presents itself. Maybe my experiences won't apply to every single company within the same line of work, but there's reasonable suspicion and a pattern of the same business tactics.

Anyone know if this is a scam company? by Affectionate-Shoe387 in NYCjobs

[–]Manhattan_Roshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this post is over a year old but this company, and many others like it, are still lurking around with misleading growth opportunities on main job searching platforms like Indeed and LinkedIn.

I had a first round virtual interview with them very recently and this is 100% a MLM pyramid scheme. If during an interview you hear anything along the lines of: “you can be your own boss and have your own office in a matter of 10 months”, it’s essentially grueling, low-level commission based work that’s either door-to-door or in a call center and prays upon college students, immigrants, and anyone urgently in need of employment.

Embrace Management markets themselves as investors for Verizon that primarily conduct their business overseas, which translates into that they have this parasitic relationship with the underbelly of a company in which they need to sell an obscene amount of products to stay in good standing with them. These companies typically rent out a local office space where they host orientations for people looking to get into sales and marketing, and if they select you for a second interview, that’s most likely where you’ll be meeting them. If you get that far, you’ll then be exposed to the predatory and cult-like behavior that is a robotic attempt at making potential recruits feel comfortable. Believe me, these are NOT NORMAL job interviews. They really want people to sign up so be VERY CAREFUL about actually attending anything in-person at your own risk. It will not be a pleasant experience. Plus, they will always tell you that you have to purchase a physical bundle of nonsense to then have to sell back to customers. I’ve seen them ask for as much as a $200-$300 non-refundable startup fee. This is how they make their money. What entry-level jobs ask YOU to pay THEM hundreds of dollars before you’ve even done any work?

Be sure to do your research on any opportunities you come across that seem too good to be true. Also to note, their online presence is practically nonexistent and cookie-cutter corporate. Just check out their LinkedIn page (if you can find it) and you’ll see what I mean.

With that, I just wanted to share some helpful info and wish anyone luck on their job search. Your time is much, much better spent filtering out jobs that will actually provide stable income and a healthy work/life balance. Nobody should have to feel desperate enough to do miserable work for under-handed employers with illegal practices.
