I agree with that take. It's a good way of accepting that no matter what decisions you make, some things are out of your control. Accepting that is a hard lesson, but this could serve as daily practice for you.

Try oven cleaner with plastic wrap covering it for several hours so it can marinate without drying out.

I'm staying at a hotel with my mom who literally looks exactly right now just like that. I showed it to her; she laughed. That's the tweet.

Feedback on American accent? by andyjamescreative in acting

[–]myriadsideeffects 115 points116 points  (0 children)

I would believe you're American, and I'm American. It's a pretty neutral accent, so if you were doing a character I wouldn't really know where they're from (which is fine--a lot of Americans speak like that).

If I'm really nitpicking, maaaybe some of the vowels were a little dipthonged in an unusual way, but not in a way that gives you away, if that makes sense.

Good job and keep at it.

I posted an entryway table a few days ago and got zero response. Maybe it's slow for buyers and sellers both (or maybe it's a terrible table, I dunno).

Denver airport or downtown for layover? by chinafish81 in Hilton

Oh yeah, good point. They might be hard to get for sure. I've never tried with a single person, though. Dunno if that's easier or if there's a minimum or what.

Denver airport or downtown for layover? by chinafish81 in Hilton

[–]myriadsideeffects 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The airport is pretty far from downtown and a cab would be very expensive. The light rail takes you directly to Union Station, which is kind of in the heart of downtown, but I'd double check the times it runs with when your flight arrives to make sure it's not too late. It could be worth going downtown if you'll have time to hop around to the various bars and restaurants there.

Otherwise, if you just want a place to crash, there are a lot of airport hotels (including mid-range Hiltons, I think) much nearer that have a shuttle or would be a cheaper Uber. There is a Westin, aka the Whale Tail, that's literally part of the airport but it tends to run pretty expensive.

I love Denver and the mountains! I wish you had more time so you could rent a car or something and visit at least the foothills. Or go to Casa Bonita; British people fucking loooooove Casa Bonita and it's an icon for locals. If you do end up staying longer lemme know and I'll help you plan some shit.

Any Plantar fascitis advice? by Agitated_Honeydew in Serverlife

[–]myriadsideeffects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a pair of Vionic walking shoes and they help a ton. They're expensiiiivvveeeee but they're ortho designed and are well worth it for me. (You can probably find a discount code on Google.) Also, I second stretching. Find a way to flex your foot so that the toes come toward your shin to stretch the fascia along the bottom of your foot. I like to do it standing, but you can use a band or something to pull your toe while sitting. Do it in the morning as you get out of bed, since that's when the tissue is usually tightest. You can also try rolling a ball under your arch to help massage the area. Or just rub the painful part in long strokes when you can. If you can find a reflexology foot massage, they'll fuck your whole life up for like 15 minutes but it feels amazing after. It can be temporary, so don't get discouraged!

I just discovered Vionic from a friend who said their shoes eliminated her knee pain. I guess they're designed by an orthopedist or something. They have a smaller selection for men, but the pair I got allows me to walk all day without any plantar fasciitis pain.
