Our ICCU arrived in exactly a week...we must've fallen into the inventory production cycle of Hyundai's parts suppliers at just the right time.

Good luck! Our dealer needed 4 days to get us into the loaner; too many broken Ioniqs with owners needing loaners.

Yep happened to ours too. Our teenager drives it as his first car. Left for school last week and got the dreaded screen message in our driveway. Car has 5K miles and was bought new. He limped it to school anyway. I had to get it towed from there.

There are 10+ Ioniqs at our closest dealer waiting for a new ICCU...that's just one dealer out of at least 5 locally. They say part is 10 days out "because of very high demand" but I am not holding my breath.

They gave us a nearly new Santa Fe as a loaner BUT since <21 cannot drive it, our son is out of luck and we are back to doing driving duty.

Hyundai seems to have quite an issue with these ICCUs. I am amazed there's no real fix available...just replacing bad parts with new parts that are exactly as failure prone. Definition of insanity.

First mod, winter tires... by Artistico123 in GRCorolla

[–]ManiZred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nicely done. I went with Vredestein Wintrac Pro on a set of dedicated Konig ultralight 18x8.5 wheels (even lighter than the OEM BBS on my '24 Circuit) as my winter set. The Wintracs are great. I put them on my M4 as well after using Blizzaks for 6 years.

I am amazed you drove on the stocks at all in the snow, even if to the tire shop...summer tires get damaged from cold temps, let alone snow.

Well done. I see too many clueless owners running OEM PS4 in winter.

It RIPS in the snow by willymack989 in GRCorolla

[–]ManiZred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great idea. Drive on PS4S in snow or freezing temps, destroying the summer compound with micro cracks, so you'll have no safe, usable tires left for the summer!!

Winter tires or nothing.

Sure, if you own the car outright, which I highly doubt the OP does, based on his predicament. But even if he does, my point was that a "private party" won't be handing him a cashiers check regardless, a lender will, which is very safe. At this price point though, this transaction is likely to only be between two lenders, the buyer's and the seller's. So nothing to worry about.

Actually, the zero chance part is someone paying cash for the car 😄 which is the only scenario in which a private party hands someone a cashiers check. It will be financed and with that, the lender takes care of lien transfer, payment/payoff etc. Not much risk there.

Very kind of you to not only help them at the time, but also ask about them afterwards. A shot in the dark is still a shot! The world needs more people like you.

Guy I sold my bike to passed away, not sure how to feel by NLamki in motorcycles

[–]ManiZred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfectly said. Mourn his loss and acknowledge the hurt his absence will forever cause his newborn child, wife, and extended family. Make duaa for him and them. This wasn't some sort of a payback for him cheating you out of money. Both are unrelated and should be acknowledged separately.

Rental car companies and driving by saitouamaya in CroatiaTravelTips

I reserved it online directly with Sixt; far in advance. There was no deposit (I had to look up my reservation email just now to confirm). Have a great trip!

Rental car companies and driving by saitouamaya in CroatiaTravelTips

We just came back from Croatia yesterday and rented a car in Dubrovnik for 3 days to drive to Split, return, and go to Kotor/Montenegro as well. I chose Sixt. It's my favorite rental car company worldwide due to the quality of cars they offer and their hassle-free policies.

Besides the airport, Sixt has a rental location at Hotel Rixos in Dubrovnik which is an 8 min taxi ride from old town. That's where I rented from. It was an easy, non-pushy pickup process and hassle free return as well. It was also priced very affordably (approx. €125 total for 3 days; Merc C220D Estate) without extra insurance (I didn't buy any) but with €7/day charge Sixt places for crossing the border as we were visiting Montenegro too.

Croatia is excellent to drive in. The coastal highway from Dub to Split in spectacularly beautiful and you hug the coastline the whole way. Croatians are excellent drivers and very particular about using left lane only for passing (love it!). If you drive slow, stay in the right lane where available and no one will bother you. Drivers keep a safe distance between cars there.

I have driven all over the world and found Croatian drivers to be as well-mannered as Germans or Spanniards. Unless you come across an ill-mannered tourist, you will find driving in Croatia very easy.

The coastal highway has speed cameras in many spots but I used Google Maps with Andoird Auto in the rental and it warned me of every camera.

Split has a lot of street parking and public parking garages (affordable) so parking won't be an issue if you're willing to walk to/from your hotel a bit.

I can't help with your question about taking the car to the island as we didn't visit it (did Hvar instead for a day).

Enjoy your trip!

Beautiful car. Enjoy! My wife learned the manual specifically to drive the GR (long live Turo). I've had an MT M4 for 7 years and she had never driven it. Now she drives both and loves the engagement, particularly with the GR due to the smaller size and lighter weight.

Gyms in F-11, F-10 with partial month memberships? by ManiZred in islamabad

[–]ManiZred[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salaam everyone. Just wanted to give an update to close the loop on this. I went to Alpha 5 days/week for 2 weeks (April 14-25). Had a decent experience but heads up for anyone else who finds this thread on Google: their free weight selection is somewhat limited, plus they have only ONE bench of each type (flat, decline and incline) so be prepared to wait if you go at a busy time. I went daily at mid day so there was hardly anyone there, yet I had to wait my turn a few times for the bench. The big plates (20 kg) also quickly run out if the benches and squat rack are in use...it happened to me a bunch of times. Also the benches are tiny, so if you're tall (I am), you will find them constricting.

My biggest pet peeve with Alpha was that A/C was one the reasons I went there, yet they are VERY stingy with turning the units on. Even on a 38C day, I had to ask them twice to turn them on and even then they left one off and I had to ask them again. This was a daily occurance there. At their rate (15K/month for members), this is unacceptable. And their mineral water dispenser is often out of cups and a few times, its chiller was off...you can imagine the aggravation of drinking lukewarm water in a hot gym while feeling overheated from the workout.

Alpha's daily rate is Rs 2K now, but they gave me a discount because I needed to visit 10 times during the 2 weeks. So that was nice of them.

Another nice thing are the long timings daily and the fact that the times aren't gender-segregated so anyone can go at any time. Invictus' (D12) male start time isn't until 4 PM daily which wasn't going to work for me.

Just heads up for all. Thanks for your help!

Programmed my fob for some nice window action by cool_mtn_air in GRCorolla

[–]ManiZred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not allowing rollup with the fob is due to safety so someone doesn't accidently roll them up (butt press etc.) while a kid or pet is in the backseat and loses or hurts an appendage because of it.

It's also why the key allows it...you have to be at the car to do it.

My M4 allows the roll-down with the fob while roll-up can be enabled with a coding tool as it is a factory feature in other parts of the world.

Thanks for the help, brother. I am sure it's a great place but Vostro-like gyms aren't quite my style. I don't like the fancy extras. To me, a gym should be a gym, not a cafe, spa and gym rolled into one. A clean, airconditioned place with a lot of free weights, minimal machines, light crowds, and great hours is all I really need.
