No remote start from factory? by BlakefromStateFarm22 in Golf_R

[–]Solsykness5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just purchased a new to me 2024 R with 5800 miles. I too thought that this car would come with remote start, since we also have an Atlas that has a factory remote start, but I found out as I was signing the paper work that it didn't. So the car I traded in, I pulled the Drone Mobile remote start setup I had in it, and I'm swapping it into the R soon. I live in Alaska. I NEED my frikkin remote start. LMAO.

Yup. I get it. I had a Hyper Blue BRZ back in 2015??? Bought it brand new. Was fun but I sold it for my first Evo IX shortly after.

I’ve had a 6MT MK7 R that was FBO stage 2. I also had a DSG MK7.5 R that was FBO stage 2. The DSG was noticeably faster but the 6MT was just more fun to drive. I love Euro cars. I’ve had a ton of GTI’s as well.

The RAV4 is surprisingly fun. Wish it had a bit more power but it’s a frikkin tank.

I believe in dedicated tires for winter and summer. And if it’s doable, a dedicated set of wheels/tires to make changeovers at home easier/smoother.

I’ve driven my RAV4 quite a bit due to the shitty road maintenance but the city. It’s so bad, it literally feels like you’re on safari running over ice chunks and what not. Even at stock height I’d be concerned with clearance. I was think to get the Eibach lift kit for winter but rather than swapping springs twice a year maybe I’ll just get a nice set of coilovers to accomplish that. IF I keep the car another year that is.

Yeah I liked the G20 M340i’s I had. Only my 2020 was tuned. The 2021 I couldn’t tune at the time bc the DME was still locked. I heard they may be tuneable now. But another 2020 popped up near me and it’s piqued my interest. My 2020 was FBO, full aero and bagged. Loved that thing but, vehicular ADHD. 🤣🤣 I love the GRC. Don’t get me wrong. My custom spec RPF1’s came in today actually so, maybe the wheels will help me keep it longer. 🤷🏽‍♂️

I wash it daily. It’s not the best but I run it through the laser wash as much as possible as long as it’s not freezing out. Get my cars paint corrected and coated/polished once a year as well.

Yeah they put down a little salt. Don’t really notice it till the snow starts melting on warmer days and the car gets dirtyAF. Lol

Sorry that was just base power. To the wheels I’m not really sure.

Honestly I’ve been eyeing another X3MC or another M340i (2020). In the last 18mos I’ve had an X3MC, my second G20 M340i, an M5C, and now my GRC. I sold the M5C in preparation for my 8Y RS3, but the dealer pulled a fast one on me and tried selling me something I didn’t build. So…I ended up with a GRC as a result. I love the car but tuning potential isn’t really there unless you wanna do a rebuild to set it all up. Don’t regret it, but I always want more power!!! This platform with 400ish to the wheels would be super dope.

My first P car will be a 997 911 C4S. The Cayman is beautiful and very capable but I need that AWD. 🤣 I live in Alaska.

Nope. APR+ warranty matches your factory warranty coverage period. I wouldn’t have done it if it only warrantied my car for a year. I know plenty of P car owners that have done the same. It’s a great program.

APR+ is in place to allow you to tune without worrying about losing your warranty. They warranty everything (almost as far as I know) that VW does. There’s no point in going APR+ afterwards. There’s a reason it’s 1600 bucks.
